Chapter 15: Absurd Upgrade Conditions
The four of them stopped at the same time, and Luo Jiu asked loudly: "Who?"
"Police, open the door."
Everyone looked at each other hurriedly, and were a little flustered for a moment.
Luo Jiu pointed inside the house and asked the others to go in first. She walked over and looked out through the crack in the door. There were two policemen, one old and one young, standing outside.
"Uncle police, what's going on?"
Her voice is childish and you can tell she is a child right away.
"There's been a theft in the neighborhood and we're investigating. Is there an adult at home?"
"No, the master is out."
"Your house is located in a position where you can see the crime scene from upstairs. Did you hear anything last night?"
"I was sleeping so soundly that I seemed to hear someone screaming..." Luo Jiu caught a glimpse of the policeman holding an evidence bag, which contained the egg-sized steel bullet.
The old policeman noticed her gaze and asked, "Do you know this person?"
"I don't know him," Luo Jiu denied with a smile, "I just found it strange. Where did they get such a big ball? It looks very heavy."
"The criminals fell down last night because they stepped on this. We suspect that someone in this area is making weapons of mass destruction. We need to check every household. Please open the door so we can take a look."
Luo Jiu's hand was on the door bolt, his brain working rapidly.
We absolutely cannot let them in. There are a lot of things lying around outside, including several boxes of identical Gundams on the rooftop. If we let them in, they will definitely be caught.
"This door... I can't open it. When the adults at home went out, they said it was unsafe recently and locked me in."
The old police officer asked suspiciously, "Lock you at home? Don't you have to go to school?"
Before Luo Jiu could speak, the young police officer smiled and reminded him, "Master, today is Saturday, what school are you going to?"
The old police officer closed his eyes and said, "Look at my memory. I almost forgot that today is Saturday."
Luo Jiu smiled obediently, "Then can you check other houses first, and come to my house when the adults come back in the evening, okay?"
The old policeman nodded, as if he agreed, but based on his intuition from many years of handling cases, he always felt that something was wrong with this family.
He took a few steps back, raised his head and looked around. Luo Jiu's heart became tense and he didn't dare to relax for a moment.
At this moment, a sharp whistle attracted everyone's attention.
A bus carrying people suddenly lost control, rushed off the road, and crashed into the flower bed in the community square with a bang.
Almost instantly, flames ignited in the car, and someone shouted, "It's going to explode!"
Everyone screamed and ran away. The two police officers left this place and quickly ran over to check the situation.
Luo Jiu ran into the house, and the three people guarding the entrance asked hurriedly: "What happened?"
"It was a car accident, but I felt something was wrong."
The four of them ran onto the terrace, and in just two minutes, the outside had become another world.
Indeed, it was not an ordinary car accident, but zombies appeared in the car. The zombies kept biting the passengers. There was nowhere to hide in the narrow space, and the mutants multiplied rapidly, causing the vehicle to lose control.
Two police officers opened the bus door with the purpose of rescue. The old police officer reached out to take the child from the bus, but was bitten on the neck by the little zombie. He twitched a few times, his pupils turned gray, and he quickly fell down.
"Master!" The young policeman realized something was wrong, but his feet seemed out of control and he could only stumble backwards.
After dozens of seconds, the old policeman stood up in a strange posture. The blood on his neck had solidified into black. He cast his gray eyes at the crowd. It was obvious that he had become a new mutant.
The crowd in the square looked blankly at the vehicles in the thick smoke. Some were recording videos with their cell phones, and they seemed not to understand that the end of the world had already arrived.
The car door opened wide, and a car full of zombies rushed out, sniffing the scent of humans and starting the first round of attack.
The old man standing in the front was the first to be bitten on the neck. The people around him screamed, shocked by this magical scene, and stared blankly with their mouths wide open.
A roar came from the sky: "Run! What are you still standing there for? Run!"
That was the sound Luo Jiu made with the speaker turned up to the maximum volume and using all his strength.
The crowd seemed to have just woken up from a dream, and they fled in all directions like wild animals. They ran, everyone was running desperately.
If you hesitate for a moment, the zombies will pounce on you and bite you to pieces.
The young police officer had run into a dead end like a headless fly, and the one chasing him was none other than his mutated master.
"Master..." His voice was filled with tears, "Master, please don't come over here."
The other party could no longer hear anything. He rushed straight towards the young policeman, showing his sharp teeth.
The young police officer grabbed the zombie's arms with both hands and leaned back with his whole body. However, the unique fishy smell of zombies was getting closer and closer, almost touching his face.
He closed his eyes resigned to his fate, and just as he was about to surrender, he heard a gust of wind and the sound of bones breaking.
He opened his eyes and saw a steel bullet the size of an egg shot into the zombie's temple, almost completely embedding into the master's brain and shattering most of the skull.
The gundam was exactly the same as the evidence in his hand. However, after the zombie froze briefly, it turned half of its head towards him again.
He gritted his teeth, shoved the steel bullet in his hand into his master's mouth, pushed the zombies away and ran away.
Luo Jiu and others used binoculars to watch him disappear at the street corner in his sweaty clothes, and breathed a sigh of relief in silence.
Feng Qi turned to look at Luo Jiu, "I didn't aim yesterday because it was too dark. Is it accurate this time?"
Luo Jiu nodded, "Okay, keep it up."
Everyone looked extremely nervous. The square had become a living hell. Even though they were staying out of the action in the villa, they were still sweating.
Zhong Jialing swallowed nervously, "What should we do?"
Luo Jiu: "Guard it. At least for now, the zombies won't climb the wall."
Cheng Yaoyao held Zhong Jialing's hand and said, "If you are timid, don't watch it. Come downstairs with me and talk to grandma for a while. You have to help me hide what happened outside from her."
After they went down, Luo Jiu pulled a chair over and sat down. Feng Qi covered his rapidly beating heart and said, "Is there any medicine to lower the heart rate? I need to take one."
"Yes, there is Betaloc in the space."
Feng Qi took the medicine and swallowed it, but Luo Jiu suddenly thought of something.
Yes, space.
Today is the day when the space can be upgraded. She quickly called up the operation page and clicked the upgrade button.
Beep! A new prompt pops up, indicating that the upgrade conditions have not been met.
Luo Jiu clicked to check the upgrade conditions. Feng Qi swallowed a bitter pill and was monitoring the situation with a high-definition telescope when he suddenly heard Luo Jiu, who never swore, say a swear word.
"Hold!"
"What's wrong?"
"Look!"
Feng Qi leaned over to take a look and saw that it said: Condition for first upgrade: kill one hundred zombies.
"Fuck! This, this, this... Damn it!" Feng Qi was so angry that he was incoherent. "If I can kill a hundred zombies, do I still need to level up?"
