Chapter 265 Mushroom Chicken Soup with Yi Noodles

Chen Suwen sat up, lit the lamp, and the room immediately became bright.

Chen Suwen turned on a desk lamp, which she already had in her space. Since it was just her and Zhou Qingyun in the room, there was no need to hide it.

"Is everything alright?" Although she had great confidence in Zhou Qingyun's skills, Chen Suwen still wanted to know if he was injured.

Zhou Qingyun shook his head, "I'm not injured, I'm just a little hungry after a long day of running around."

"I left you a bowl of chicken soup. Make yourself a bowl of noodles. Oh, and take a shower first."

As a southerner, she would take a bath even in the coldest part of winter, and she made sure Zhou Qingyun took a bath as well.

Now that she's in the north, she still insists on taking a bath every day.

Zhou Qingyun was also used to taking a bath. After hearing his wife's instructions, he nodded and went out.

There was still hot water in the kitchen. Zhou Qingyun tested the water temperature and, before getting water to take a bath, he set up a small stove to heat up the mushroom and chicken soup in the clay pot.

We're cooking it on a small stove now. It'll be boiling by the time he finishes his bath, just in time to make noodles.

After a quick wash and a rinse, Zhou Qingyun washed away the stains on her body, changed into clean clothes, and then went to the kitchen to cook noodles.

The aroma of mushroom and chicken soup wafted out, and Zhou Qingyun took the fresh noodles that Chen Suwen had given him and put them in to cook.

The fresh noodles weren't dried, so they only needed to be cooked briefly in the broth.

After cooking the noodles, Zhou Qingyun placed them on a small stool in the kitchen to eat, and Chen Suwen also moved a small stool and sat opposite him.

Resting his elbows on his knees and supporting his chin with his hands, he looked at the man eating noodles across from him. "Have they caught all the human traffickers?"

"Yes, we caught them. There shouldn't be any who escaped."

The four human traffickers caught today from the back mountain of Guangming Brigade were not all of them. After further interrogation, they caught more than a dozen other human traffickers.

There were four women among them, and the rest were all men.

This human trafficking gang also had weapons; if Zhou Qingyun hadn't been on guard, he might have been injured.

The group of human traffickers abducted three unmarried girls, around sixteen or seventeen years old; and two married women with children, around twenty to twenty-five years old.

There are twelve children, most of whom are boys, and there is only one girl.

Human traffickers know that baby girls are worthless, and many people buy children from traffickers mainly for the purpose of "carrying on the family line" and having a son.

They despise their daughter so much, how could they possibly be willing to raise a girl who is destined to be married off?

They kidnapped grown-up girls to sell them to other men as wives. What can a little girl who is only a few years old do?

Therefore, they rarely abduct young girls; they mainly abduct young boys and women over sixteen or seventeen.

Chen Suwen frowned as she listened to him finish speaking, "Human traffickers all deserve to die."

In fact, Chen Suwen was once one of those who supported the death penalty for human traffickers, but she also knew that it would be very difficult to sentence human traffickers to death.

But every time I see abducted women and children, I feel like killing all the traffickers.

Zhou Qingyun smiled at her indignant expression and reached out to pat her head. "Don't worry, they won't get away with this."

The penalties were severe in those days, and crimes like human trafficking were very serious; those traffickers would not have a good end.

Chen Suwen nodded to indicate that she understood.

"Dad, you're back?"

Zhou Cunzong, who had been asleep, got up and was puzzled to see the kitchen lights on. When he came over, he saw his parents squatting in the kitchen eating noodles.

Zhou Qingyun looked up at his son and said, "You're back."

"Dad, I heard you caught several human traffickers today! My God, how are you so amazing? How come I never knew?"

Zhou Cunzong admired him immensely.

His father was quiet and unassuming; he had never realized that his father could single-handedly capture four human traffickers.

That's amazing.

Moreover, his father later went with the armed forces to arrest human traffickers, which shows how capable his father was.

He never knew his father was so strong.

Zhou Qingyun slurped up the last bite of noodles, smiled at his son, and said, "Your dad has always been very capable, you just didn't know it."

"Really?" Zhou Cunzong was a little doubtful, but he was happy that his father was so capable, hehe.

Hearing their conversation, Chen Suwen stood up and said, "Alright, aren't you going to the toilet? Hurry up and go."

"By the way, bring a flashlight, what if we fall into the latrine?"

In rural areas, toilets are mostly dry toilets. Although the latrine pit is not very wide, you might accidentally step into the dark on a dark night.

Wouldn't it be even worse if you stepped into the bottom of a cesspool?

As Chen Suwen pondered, she couldn't help but frown.

She was uncomfortable using a good toilet that she had used for decades, and suddenly having to use this kind of dry toilet again made her feel uncomfortable.

Moreover, dry toilets have a strong odor; they smell so bad that just thinking about them makes me want to vomit.

Zhou Cunzong was sent to the toilet by his mother, and Chen Suwen also went back to her room.

Now that Zhou Qingyun is back safe and sound, she can finally sleep peacefully.

When Zhou Qingyun returned to his room after finishing a pot of mushroom and chicken soup noodles, Chen Suwen was already fast asleep.

He smiled as he watched her sleeping peacefully, but he didn't lie down immediately after finishing his meal.

He tucked the blanket around his wife, then sat down at the table, holding a pen and paper, seemingly drawing something.

Zhou Qingyun didn't care whether he farmed in the village or not, but like Chen Suwen, he didn't know how to farm from the beginning.

He doesn't like the kind of farming that's purely manual, where you work so hard for so long but the harvest isn't very high and the income isn't very high.
