"There are so many mushrooms on the mountain. If you want to eat them, go pick them yourself. Why are you asking others for them?"
"If you want to eat them, go pick them yourself. My daughter and I got up early this morning to pick these mushrooms, and we're just giving them to you for free. You're really shameless."
"You have the nerve to ask me to give you the mushrooms I painstakingly picked, how can I be embarrassed to ask you for meat?"
"Hurry up, give me a five-pound old hen, and I'll give you five pounds of mushrooms."
Chen Suwen reached out to the other person, looking as if to say, "You've gotten a good deal."
The man's eyes widened. "Then why don't you just rob me? You think you can trade five pounds of mushrooms for five pounds of my old hen? Are you a bandit?"
"You're the bandit! You're the robber!"
“We just got back, we haven’t even reached our doorstep yet, and you suddenly appeared out of nowhere and asked us to give you the mushrooms. And you still say you’re not some highway robber?”
Chen Suwen countered with a question.
Judging from the way they were acting just now, the other side was clearly the bandits, wasn't they?
She was just giving him a taste of his own medicine, and he couldn't stand it?
"You're the bandit! Who stole anything? I was just thinking we're all neighbors, so let's be generous and share!"
"I never expected you two to be so stingy." The other person grumbled, complaining that Chen Suwen and Zhou Ling, the mother and daughter, were too stingy and miserly.
Chen Suwen raised an eyebrow, "Oh, you're so generous! If you're so generous, why don't you share your family's money and ration coupons with me? If you're so generous, why don't you share your family's grain and meat with me?"
"You're so generous, and I'm so stingy. Why don't you share your things with me, hurry up?" Chen Suwen stretched out her hand in front of the other person, urging her to give her the things quickly.
"Unreasonable, stingy." The other person was obviously unwilling to share their things with others, muttered a few curses under their breath, and then turned and left.
She could accept not being able to gain any advantage from Zhou Ling, but she couldn't afford to share her own things; that would be a real loss.
We'd better get out of here quickly.
How could she forget that Zhou Ling's mother was a formidable figure? If she continued to pester her, she would only bring misfortune upon herself.
Forget it, she'll figure out how to take advantage of Zhou Ling after her mother leaves.
Anyway, Zhou Ling's mother can't stay here forever; there will come a day when she goes back to her hometown.
If she can't afford to offend Chen Suwen, that shrew, can't she at least avoid her?
Chen Suwen snorted coldly as she watched the other person flee in disarray. She glanced around, as if everyone around her was probably like that person, trying to take advantage of her.
Everyone looked away, avoiding eye contact with her.
Although they envied Chen Suwen and her daughter for picking so many mushrooms, they didn't dare to ask for any. What if Chen Suwen forced them to exchange them for something more valuable?
If we can't afford to offend them, we'd better stay away for now.
