Captain Qianshuihe rushed over and saw Chen Suwen warning that hooligan. Although he was very dissatisfied with her being so aggressive as a woman, he still considered that she wanted to exchange things with the brigade.
When their brigade went to the commune's supply and marketing cooperative to exchange goods, they didn't get much of a discount. Chen Suwen always helped them get things they couldn't get normally.
He still didn't want to offend this "god of wealth".
"Agou, what's wrong with you? Quickly apologize to this comrade." The captain immediately scolded the hooligan as soon as he arrived, telling him to apologize to the person right away.
He wanted to say that Chen Suwen and the others were bullying people, but now he realized that it was this guy, Ah Gou, who wanted to do something to someone's daughter.
The captain glanced at Zhou Min. This young girl was indeed beautiful. Although she looked young at only a teenager, it was clear that she was a beauty in the making.
It's really not surprising that Ah Gou, who likes to tease cats and dogs, likes to make fun of young women and wives, and likes to have shady entanglements with widows, would be interested in her.
The captain was somewhat indignant. Chen Su asked them, "Why did you bring such a pretty young girl with you when you came to exchange things?"
Was it a deliberate attempt to undermine the unity of their brigade?
Chen Suwen keenly sensed the captain's meaning; his eyes held a hint of resentment towards her.
She released her grip on the dog's shoulder and clapped her hands as if to brush away something dirty.
"Alright, since your brigade doesn't welcome us, we'll be leaving now."
They came to exchange goods, not to beg for help. Since the people in the brigade disliked and treated them so badly, there was no point in them staying any longer.
"Ah Zong, let's go."
Chen Suwen walked over, picked up her grandson and granddaughter, put them on the back of the tricycle, and then picked up Zhao Lexin and put her on the tricycle.
After hearing what her mother said, Zhou Min quickly climbed into the car, held the three children in her arms, and waited for her third brother to drive the car away.
They left without giving anyone a chance to stop them, and Zhou Cunzong didn't delay either. At his mother's command, he got on the tricycle and rode away.
Chen Suwen followed closely behind, and the group of six quickly left the Qianshuihe Brigade.
"Hey—wait—wait, Comrade Chen—"
The captain was surprised that Chen Suwen was so decisive and ran away so quickly.
He hadn't even said anything yet, so why did he just leave like that?
Didn't you say you were coming to exchange something?
They left without even getting anything in return?
But Chen Suwen and her son Zhou Cunzong pedaled so fast that the tricycle and bicycle sped away.
Ordinary tricycles aren't particularly fast, but Zhou Cunzong's tricycle was specially made by Zhou Qingyun, and its speed was about the same as that of a bicycle.
It can even reach speeds comparable to racing bicycles. As long as you have the strength to pedal and get the bicycle moving, you can pedal as fast as you want.
The mother and her children quickly left the Qianshuihe Brigade, leaving the brigade leader and Agou dumbfounded.
"Aunt--"
Huang Xiaomei ran over carrying the dried ferns she had dried, but only saw the backs of Chen Suwen and the others as they drove away in a cloud of dust. Her eyes welled up with tears.
She hadn't changed the oil yet. She had painstakingly stockpiled so many dried ferns hoping to exchange them for something better, but now they were all gone.
"Captain, why did Aunt Chen and the others leave?" Huang Xiaomei looked up at the captain while holding her bamboo basket. She had no idea what had happened; her deal had suddenly fallen through.
When the captain heard Huang Xiaomei ask this question, he couldn't help but glare at Agou next to him.
"What's wrong with you? They finally came over to exchange some things, why did you provoke them?" the captain complained.
"How is it my fault? Captain, isn't it your own attitude that's the problem?"
Ah Gou wasn't too afraid of the captain.
He's a good-for-nothing who always slacks off when he's working, and he's not afraid of the team leader making things difficult for him.
With his thick skin and fearlessness, he wasn't afraid of what the captain might do if he got angry with him, and he could talk back to the captain without any restraint.
"That auntie was angry with me, but she only left with her people because you, the brigade leader, came over and talked to her."
"What does this have to do with me?" Ah Gou absolutely refuses to take the blame.
The captain didn't think there was anything wrong with his attitude. He just felt that Chen Suwen, a woman, had just threatened Ah Gou and treated the members of their brigade very badly.
A woman, threatening a man by saying she would gouge out his eyes and beat him up, what's wrong with him not being nice to such a restless woman?
Besides, he was only not very nice to Chen Suwen because of Agou, and that bastard Agou actually thought it was his fault?
"Ah Gou, how can you talk like that? If you hadn't harassed that woman, would her mother have gotten angry and run away?"
"That's a whole lot of peanut oil! Such clear oil would be perfect for cooking! Now you've made it so we can't get our peanut oil replaced!"
Ah Gou can be ungrateful and callous towards the captain, thinking that the captain is the one in the wrong, not himself, but the other team members cannot.
They weren't as fearless as Ah Gou. Ah Gou, that heartless man, didn't care whether his parents, brothers, or sisters would be targeted by the brigade leader.
They were afraid.
The battalion commander wielded considerable influence in their battalion, and they dared not offend him.
