As Vilia spoke, his right hand had already grasped the lightning sword beside him.
"Sizzle..."
The blue arcs of electricity pulsating on the mental weapon indicate that its user is in a good mood.
"Since everyone has reached an agreement, you gentlemen, please step out for a moment. We need to discuss some matters. We will personally receive the refugees later."
"Yes, I understand."
The homeland guards who came to deliver the message, along with several soldiers on duty, felt that something was amiss, but they couldn't quite put their finger on it.
One can only marvel at how kind the administrators of their community are, showing such enthusiasm even towards outsiders.
The sounds I just heard from inside the office must have been my imagination, right? How could their manager be such a person?
The moment the office door closed, the friendly expressions on Evan and the others vanished instantly.
At the same time, they were exchanging whispers.
“Charles told me that their gathering place encountered members of the Dark Order who worship the god of darkness, Moder, about a week ago.”
They were discovered as soon as they entered and were immediately eliminated, leaving no survivors.
Now, at this perfect time, a group of "refugees" with similar characteristics have arrived; if nothing unexpected happens, they should be a group of people.
Evan was the first to speak. He only learned about the Dark God Moder, whom he mentioned, from Smith after he became the highest administrator of the settlement.
A god in the darkness, an embodiment of despair and the long night, the god worshipped by the Dark Order, a real and abnormal individual, and also the shepherd who, in Evan's speculation, is constantly reaping the benefits of human civilization.
“I’ve seen letters from other settlements, but we can’t condemn them all at once. They might have other schemes up their sleeves. The best way to deal with these people is to wipe them out completely and leave no one behind.”
Smith's attitude was straightforward: if it really was the Dark Order, then none of them would be spared.
Thus, their response plan was completed.
Smith will lead these "refugees" to a designated area, an open space far from the settlement's residential area, where Evan and a group of home guards will be waiting, along with a few blank psychic weapons.
Evan is the strongest person in the settlement, and despite Smith being an office worker, he is also one of the top five experts in the settlement.
Once a problem is discovered, the two of them will eliminate the troublesome entity immediately.
Vilia's task was to guard the passage through which these "refugees" came. If the infiltrated dark cultists were exposed, and there were other members of the dark cult outside who tried to storm the settlement, Vilia and his elite troops would teach them a lesson.
"I hope these people are normal, so that the increase in manpower in the settlement is not a bad thing."
If there is indeed a problem, then it proves that no Dark Cult members left alive from other settlements; their information was far too limited.
Using psychological tactics to test outsiders is now a joint tactic employed by several communities.
Initially, it was at Charles's gathering place that someone discovered that mind control could detect internal problems in people, and then suggested that this method of detection could also be used for external testing.
Later, at another gathering place, they tried using psychological warfare on the refugees they encountered.
Those refugees were indeed members of the Dark Cult; the moment the leader picked up his mind-armor, his standard weapon changed to a dark-themed appearance.
Unsurprisingly, those guys were all gone.
And then there's now, the forces covered by the settlement are exposing one by one the Dark Cultists are coming, and one by one they die.
"Even after all this, you still dare to test the waters. You really have commendable courage. Aren't you afraid of dying if you try?"
Of the three, the one who was most eager to get there was Vilia, a soldier, who found it too boring to be here reviewing documents.
What he wants is the thrill of battle.
