Chapter 360 The First Battle (2/2)

"Pfft..."

That was the sound of Evan's finely crafted dagger slicing through the flesh of the Dark Erosion Beast, cutting through the barrier between the outside world and the monster's internal organs.

Both occurred simultaneously; the acid that landed on the clothes quickly corroded whatever it came into contact with, accompanied by a pungent white smoke, and the clothes gradually dissolved.

The dagger cut through the flesh, but surprisingly, not much blood flowed. From the gray wound, there were signs of black stuff, possibly intestines, slipping out slightly.

"retreat!"

The attack was successful, and Evan didn't need to waste any more time. He had learned from the book that pain would arouse the ferocity of beasts, especially when they were fatally wounded. These monsters would become even more frenzied and would try to take other lives with them even when they were about to die.

The most dangerous period is the time between delivering the fatal blow and the enemy not yet being incapacitated.

Evan's idea was correct.

Almost the instant he exerted force with his feet, halting his forward momentum and beginning to retreat, the Lizard-like Dark Devourer felt pain and sensed something important leaving its body.

Having been misled by Evan's plan, the current attack has allowed the monster to pinpoint the true location of its prey.

Its tail, which looked like a steel whip, lashed out and struck Evan.

"call……"

It's very fast and clearly very powerful. Combined with the weight of its tail, it's sure to be deadly if it hits its target.

Before they even made contact, Evan had already heard the sound, which sounded like the call of death.

All he could do was turn sideways while backing away, raise his left hand, and try to make the wrist guard and tail touch as much as possible.

"Clang... Clang..."

The real world is not a game; there's no such thing as a perfect parry that leaves you unscathed.

Evan blocked the lizard's tail with his left hand. The attack, which could have seriously injured him, was gradually diluted by his retreating to absorb the force, his wrist guards to block, his arm to defend, and finally his chainmail to defend.

The end result was that Evan was thrown into the air, moved backward a distance in mid-air, and finally rolled twice on the ground before coming to a stop.

"It hurts a bit, but thankfully I can still fight..."

The moment the backward force weakened, Evan stood up and maintained his fighting stance, facing the monster before him.

The result of that blow was a very obvious dent in my wristband. My left hand bones probably weren't broken, but I couldn't exert any force in it. I felt a sharp pain in my chest, but it's not a serious problem.

Because I specifically used my left hand to defend, my right hand can still swing the weapon normally, and my legs are not affected.

"Is this what battle feels like? Are Dad and the other homeland guards going to face monsters like this?"

"It's truly admirable that this Dark Erosion Beast, already severely injured, still possesses such formidable explosive power."

He felt a little regretful; if he had used a spear instead of a short weapon like a dagger, he could have completed that maneuver without taking any damage.

Without a spear, he could only use a dagger, and his attack range was similar to that of the Dark Devouring Beast, which was extremely dangerous.

However, along with that attack, Evan felt some strange changes occurring in his body.

"call……"

He opened his mouth and exhaled a breath of white air. He didn't know if it was just his imagination, but at the same time he mustered up the courage to complete the attack, it seemed that an unusual heat appeared in his body.

It's like a fire beating in the heart, traveling through the blood vessels, carrying the heat and warmth of the flame to every corner of the body.
