Chapter 1019. I've Treated You Like a Son

Yan Bo had met a few of Tong Laoda's brothers, including Uncle Ming, Uncle Du, and Uncle Zhang, but he didn't know who the others were.

Moreover, he understood that Boss Tong had another purpose in inviting him to dinner this time.

If in the past, when Boss Tong introduced him to others, he said that Yan Bo was Tong Xiaohuai's boyfriend, then after tomorrow night, his identity will be more than just that of a boyfriend.

Yan Bo wasn't the only one who guessed Tong Laoda's intentions behind this meal.

After her parents finished their sweet soup and returned to their room, Tong Xiaohuai tugged at Yanbo and whispered some advice to him.

"Yanbo, you'd better think carefully about dinner tonight before giving my dad an answer."

Yan Bo pinched her cheek and laughed, "Why? Do you think I'm afraid your dad will eat me?"

Tong Xiaohuai rolled her eyes at him. "You know that's not what I meant. Anyway, you can still back out before lunch. Those uncles won't show their faces until noon. Think it over carefully."

In the morning, everyone got up rather late.

Around nine o'clock, Uncle Yuan saw Yan Bo and Tong Xiaohuai come out and then put the breakfast on the table.

"Uncle Tong and Aunt Tong, I'm sorry we stayed up late. You didn't have to wait for us."

Yan Bo was very embarrassed and said apologetically to the two elders who were sitting in the living room waiting for him and Tong Xiaohuai.

"It's okay, we just got up too."

Tong Laoda is becoming more and more tolerant of Yan Bo.

"Have you noticed that my dad treats you differently?" Tong Xiaohuai tugged at Yan Bo's sleeve and asked her in a low voice.

Yan Bo pretended not to understand, "Really? I didn't think so."

Tong Xiaohuai explained in a low voice, "My dad used to treat you like a son-in-law, so he was very picky. Now I feel like he treats you like a son, so he's very tolerant and accommodating."

Yan Bo put his arm around her shoulder and said, "Silly girl, Uncle Tong is just indulging in love with everything related to me."

He didn't deny that Boss Tong was indeed treating him better and better. But this kindness truly stemmed from Tong Xiaohuai, not from Yan Bo himself.

Seeing that he didn't believe her, Tong Xiaohuai was too lazy to argue anymore and brought up the matter of dinner that evening.

Have you thought this through regarding the meal?

Yan Bo nodded, "Okay, I'll go book a table in a bit. Do you and Aunt Tong want to come along?"

Tong Xiaohuai knew he had made up his mind, so she stopped trying to persuade him and shook her head to refuse his suggestion.

“Why should we go with you bunch of rough men who are going out drinking? You guys go ahead, my mom and I are going to the cheongsam shop tonight.”

Yanbo didn't press the matter further. During breakfast, he said to Tong's mother, "Aunt Tong, Xiaohuai said you and her should go to the cheongsam shop tonight. Could you also make an appointment with a designer for me? I'd like to have two Chinese-style dresses made for the Spring Festival. Uncle Tong, would you like to come along? You can put the bill on my tab."

Tong's mother didn't stand on ceremony with him and nodded with a smile, "Okay, Xiao Huai and I will go and get our measurements taken first. You two can see when it's convenient for us, and I can arrange for them to come to your home to take your measurements. As for styles, we can also have them bring pictures to your home so you can choose."

The four of them ate breakfast while discussing clothing and customs for the Spring Festival. Although they were not a family, they were more harmonious than many families of four.

After breakfast, Tong Xiaohuai and Yan Bo went back to their rooms to change clothes, as they planned to go out for a walk.

"Xiao Yan is really thoughtful. Making a few sets of clothes at the cheongsam shop won't be cheap."

Tong's mother was becoming more and more satisfied with her future son-in-law.

Boss Tong disagreed, saying, "It's not like he can't afford that little bit of money."

"That's not how it works. Many people can afford this money, but not everyone is willing to spend it."

Tong Xiaohuai was also a little worried about this large expense.

"Yanbo, it's not cheap to have a few sets of Chinese-style dresses made at a cheongsam shop. Do you have any spare funds?"

Tong Xiaohuai, sitting in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt while looking worriedly at Yan Bo, who was starting the car.

"Don't worry, I still have that money."

Yan Bo drove the car away from the Tong family mansion. He turned his head and saw that Tong Xiaohuai seemed a little incredulous. He then said, "The government transferred the second phase of the project payment the day before yesterday. As for the villas, pre-sales started last month, and we just received a prepayment from the bank yesterday. All these payments together are enough for Yanhuang's cash flow for the next quarter."

Tong Xiaohuai's worry turned to joy. "Really? Then you won't have to worry so much, right?"

Yanbo originally didn't want to discuss business during his break, but seeing that she was still worried about the company's cash flow problems, he stopped hiding it and told her the two pieces of good news directly.

"Yes, Yanhuang has now passed the crisis period. Yesterday I instructed Di Xu to have the accounting department collect dividends and year-end bonuses according to the profit sharing."

Tong Xiaohuai was very happy for Yan Bo. "That's great! The company has been established for less than a year, and it already has dividends and year-end bonuses?"

"Of course, especially since you're a major shareholder, your dividends should be substantial!"

"Forget about mine, I don't need the money anyway." Tong Xiaohuai subconsciously rejected Yan Bo's offer to share the profits with her.

“How can we just let it go? This isn’t just about me. This is an official matter. Based on your shareholding, you should get whatever amount you deserve.”

After thinking for a moment, Tong Xiaohuai had no choice but to say, "Then I'll reinvest the dividends, is that alright?"

Yan Bo nodded. "That's a good idea. I'll have the accounting department calculate it and convert it into shares for you."

Tong Xiaohuai could only nod, "Alright, whatever."

She didn't care about the money, but she had to respect Yan Bo and consider his face and self-esteem.

The two chatted about company matters, and before they knew it, their car had entered the flower market.

Originally, Yanbo wanted to accompany Tong Xiaohuai to go shopping and look around, but Tong Xiaohuai suggested going to the flower market instead.

Because the Tong family's shops need to buy a lot of flowers and tangerines to decorate their stores during the Spring Festival.

Yan Bo accompanied Tong Xiaohuai to several flower shops. Miss Guo called to ask some questions, and Yan Bo casually asked, "Miss Guo, does our company need to buy flowers and tangerines to decorate the storefront for the Spring Festival?"

Yanbo had absolutely no experience in this area.

"Wow, boss, you're amazing. I mentioned this to Di Xu yesterday, and he told me to tell you myself, but I forgot about it as soon as I turned around."

"Then calculate it and send me the types and quantities of flowers you need. Xiao Huai and I are at the flower market now, so we can prepare the ones for the company as well."

Tong Xiaohuai pointed to the shop owner who had selected dozens of plates of red peonies and dozens of plates of kumquats. After Yan Bo hung up the phone, she asked him.

"My dad used to like to put some daffodils in his office. They're not only pretty, but they also smell really good. Would you like to grow a few pots of them too?"

Daffodils can only bloom beautifully in the warm south.

Yan Bo, who knew nothing about this, handed over the decision-making power entirely to Tong Xiaohuai.

"Okay, if you like it, then keep it!"
