Yan Shao wasn't one to initiate conversations or liven up the atmosphere. During meals, it was mostly the mother, her two daughters, and Zizai who did the talking, while he mostly ate quietly on the side.
Occasionally, he would ask about Zai Zai's preferences, pick out food for him, or remove fish bones. Although Zai Zai remained indifferent to him, he still worked very hard.
