Chapter 25: When You Cry

That day, Yan Shao got up at six o'clock as usual, ran a few laps in the garden, took a shower, and went downstairs to have breakfast feeling refreshed.

But in the dining room, she saw Old Madam Yan, who hadn't gotten up before seven o'clock in a long time. "Mom, is the clock in your room broken?"

As Yan Shao spoke, he subconsciously glanced at the sky outside. In the due east, a rising sun was just beginning to emerge from the horizon, meaning that his clock was not broken.

"Son, it's been half a month since Ying'er left, hasn't it?" Old Madam Yan asked as if she hadn't heard his question, while adding pickled vegetables and chopped green onions to her congee.

"Mom, I really suspect that Zhu Qianying was actually someone you picked out and then secretly planted in to participate in the selection competition."

His mother had never met Zhu Qianying, but in the past two weeks, he had heard her call him "Ying'er" several times to dozens of times a day, which made his eyelids twitch whenever he heard the name "Ying'er".

"Son, are you praising your old mother or insulting your own intelligence?"

Madam Yan glanced at him indifferently, then scooped up a large spoonful of rice porridge and put it in her mouth.

Of course, Yan Shao knew that although his mother really wanted to have a grandson, she wouldn't resort to such despicable means as to force someone in front of him.

Besides, even if I were really that despicable, he would never let me have my way.

So what I just said was just a sarcastic remark.

“Son, although I’ve never met Ying’er, my intuition tells me that she is an exceptionally good girl.”

Madam Yan had been in charge of the Tong family for decades and had seen countless people and things.

I've long since mastered the skill of judging people by their details.

"Mom, don't blame me for not reminding you, you'd better ask Uncle Hai to prepare some quick-acting heart medicine for you and Dad."

Young Master Yan was very reluctant to shatter his mother's beautiful dreams, but what's that saying again?

The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment?

Yan Shao still doesn't know how many faces that woman, Zhu Qianying, has.

All he knew was that she had brazenly declared that he wanted the person, while she wanted the money.

He feared that a woman who was only after his money would ultimately disappoint his mother.

"Son, you've described Ying'er in such a negative light, yet you still agreed to marry her?" Old Master Yan looked at him with great interest.

Yan Shao shrugged. "This is what makes it fun, isn't it?"

It was these unpredictable possibilities that brought some fun to his recently monotonous life.

Why doesn't he marry a woman like that?

"Son, I told you a long time ago, those who play with fire will get burned! Have you forgotten?" Old Madam Yan kindly reminded her son.

To be honest, although she hasn't met her in person yet, she really likes Zhu Qianying.

But looking at my son's current attitude, he seems completely nonchalant and cynical.

I really deserve a beating!

"Mom, don't worry, your son is immune to all poisons!"

During the conversation, Young Master Yan had finished eating, wiped his mouth, and stood up gracefully.

While I was tying my tie in the outer room, my mother's strong voice came through the glass.

"You'll regret it later. You'll regret it someday."

Yan Shao scoffed, his slender fingers deftly sliding his tie knot to his collar. He glanced at his handsome reflection in the mirror, a slight smile playing on his lips. He took the laptop bag from Uncle Hai and called out to the dining room, "Mom, I'm going to work."

"Go on, go on. If Ying'er comes back today, remember to bring her back with you. I had Uncle Hai prepare a huge amount of ingredients a few days ago..."

The old woman was still yelling something loudly, but Yan Shao didn't finish listening because he changed his shoes and left.

As the door closed, Yan Shao couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief.

Compared to Zhu Qianying, I'm the one who's really hard to deal with!

He wasn't going back to Yanhuang Group this morning because there was something he needed to handle with the Tong family.

Of course, it's not a big deal, it's just that he needs to come forward in person.

The person who took him to run errands today was not a driver, but his all-powerful assistant, Qin Xiu.

"Sir, is today the last day?"

Young Master Yan had been listening to his mother nagging all morning at home, but he never expected that back on his own turf, he would have to listen to Zhu Qianying's nagging again in front of his subordinates.

Shut up! You're annoying!

Yan Shao's decisive rebuke successfully silenced Qin Xiu.

The Tong family's businesses in L City are ostensibly mainly bars and KTVs.

The person Yan Shao is meeting today is the CEO of a nationwide KTV chain in L City who entered the market with great fanfare a year ago.

A year ago, this boss opened the largest KTV in L City. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, he made a boastful statement in front of reporters, saying that within three years, all the KTVs in L City would be renamed after his family.

Yan Shao scoffed at the provocation, but he didn't say a word in rebuttal. He was the kind of person who preferred actions to words.

As a result, a year later, the CEO surnamed Zhou humbly begged him to meet, saying he wanted to discuss a harmonious plan.

Yan Shao initially didn't want to pay attention to him, but then he thought it wouldn't hurt. Anyway, he was getting annoyed by his mother lately and had nowhere to vent his anger.

Having multiple people to tease can help relieve your tension, isn't that a bad thing?

"Sir, would you like me to go upstairs with you later?"

After being scolded, Qin Xiu wisely remained silent the whole way. As they were about to arrive at the agreed-upon teahouse, he asked Yan Shao, who was busy in the back seat.

"No need, wait for me in the car. While you're at it, prepare the materials for next week's bidding meeting."

After receiving the order, Qin Xiu obediently parked the car and watched his bodyguard follow Young Master Yan into the teahouse before turning on his computer to handle the matters Young Master Yan had entrusted to him.

When the phone rang, Qin Xiu was struggling with a set of data. He picked up the phone without even glancing at it and answered directly, "Hello, this is Qin Xiu."

"Mr. Qin, hello, it's me, Zhu Qianying!"

Qin Xiu was still typing on the keyboard with his other hand, his mind completely on the tender document, but when he heard the name Zhu Qianying, his attention was instantly pulled away from the tender document.

"Hello, Miss Zhu!" Her voice carried a hint of surprise.

He was naturally pleasantly surprised, because for the past two weeks, as the middleman, he had to deal with both Old Madam Yan's interrogation and Young Master Yan's irritable and demanding criticism every day.

Now that the instigator has appeared, his hard times are finally over.

Not long after hanging up with Zhu Qianying, Young Master Yan walked out with a beaming smile, accompanied by President Zhou, whose face was dark with anger.

Qin Xiu had already foreseen this scene, so when he got out of the car, he calmly nodded to President Zhou and said, "Hello, President Zhou!"

The other party ignored him completely, leaving the two of them behind and striding away.

Qin Xiu opened the back door and waited for Yan Shao to get in the car. He leaned over the door and said to Yan Shao, who was still smiling inside, "Sir, Miss Zhu called just now."

Then, he clearly saw his master's smile freeze at the corner of his lips.
