Chapter 262 Annoying Money

Fearing that Young Master Yan would continue to be stubborn about money, Zhu Qianying finished her milk in one gulp and stood up.

"Young Master Yan, I'm going to sleep now. Don't stay up too late!"

Young Master Yan stared at Zhu Qianying's retreating figure as she hurriedly slipped into the kitchen, feeling as if she were fleeing in panic.

Zhu Qianying returned to her bedroom but didn't go to sleep immediately. Instead, she opened her online banking account, checked her money, and calculated her recent expenses. She thought that if all else failed, she would borrow some money from Xiaoyu to buy the car, so that Young Master Yan wouldn't ask about it every day.

However, the expenses after returning to China were quite substantial. First, a large sum was spent on buying a house, and then on buying furniture. I originally thought that furniture wouldn't cost much, but after calculating the total, I found that it had cost several hundred thousand yuan.

After returning home, her income shrank considerably compared to when she was in the US. In the US, socialites and wealthy women like Mrs. Lei would frequently commission her to design and create custom jewelry; her commissions for these jobs were quite high. However, after returning home, this income significantly decreased.

With my mother temporarily unemployed, all the daily expenses for the family of three—food, clothing, and other necessities—fall on her shoulders. Although each item may seem like a small amount, when added together, it adds up to a considerable sum.

It seems she'll have to consider taking on a few more fashion magazine jobs.

Or, when Cheng Ye comes back next time, she can hang out with him in high society, get to know more wealthy heiresses and socialites, and increase her profile. Hopefully, she can get a few private jobs so that she can barely make ends meet.

Actually, judging from her expenses during this period, she wasn't really that destitute. The main issue was that the two wedding anniversary rings she designed and commissioned for Old Madam Yan were quite valuable to her, and she didn't intend to charge for them.

As for the gift I promised to give to Young Master Yan, it's still being designed, and judging from the materials used, it certainly won't be cheap.

After Zhu Qianying finally managed to check and sort out the account details and climbed into bed, her mind was still filled with that annoying word.

Money, oh money...

The next morning, Zhu Qianying was awakened by a knocking sound on the door.

She got up in a daze and opened the door, then her little body rushed towards her.

"Mommy, why is he here?"

Little Zizai hugged her waist and pointed back at Young Master Yan, who was sitting in the living room drinking tea.

Zhu Qian rubbed her eyes and then rubbed her son's head.

"Your daddy missed you, so he came to see you." The little guy's tone was full of resentment.

Why does this little guy still have so much malice and hostility towards his daddy?

Clearly, Young Master Yan has already done quite well.

At least, from her perspective as a mother, she did a pretty good job.

Seeing that her son still looked resistant, Zhu Qianying squatted down and kissed his little face.

"Zizai, Daddy has been flying around and busy lately. I just flew back from out of town yesterday and came straight here to see you without even going home. And you, Zaizai, are treating Daddy like this. Isn't that going too far?"

In front of her son, Zhu Qianying never wanted to speak ill of Yan Shao.

She knew that in her son's heart, he probably always felt that Yan Shao was an incompetent father, so he harbored an indelible hatred towards Yan Shao.

But in reality, it was she, as his mother, who had no choice but to deprive him of the right to enjoy his father's love from a young age. In this respect, Yan Shao was actually quite innocent.

But she couldn't bring up her past with Yan Shao to tell her son.

Firstly, he is too young; even if she explained it to him, he wouldn't understand.

Secondly, she had no intention of letting her son know that she and his father had gotten together because of a transaction. She didn't want her own actions to influence her son's future views on marriage.

After all, she herself was the biggest victim of her parents' marriage.

Zizai buried his head in the crook of Zhu Qianying's neck, stammering and unwilling to admit it.

When Yan Shao saw Zhu Qianying disciplining her son, he got up and walked over, squatting down like Zhu Qianying.

"Son, do you know how old Daddy is?"

Zizai still refused to turn to look at him, but instead shook his head with his back to him, indicating that he didn't know.

“Daddy is thirty-three years old, and Zizai is only five! Daddy might not be able to guess what Zizai is thinking, but Daddy really wants to know what Zizai is thinking. So, if Zizai wants anything, or if there's anything that makes him unhappy or that he doesn't like, he can tell Daddy. Or, if Daddy hasn't done a good enough job, Zizai can just tell Daddy directly, okay? Daddy will change!”

Young Master Yan never imagined that one day he would be so humble in front of a little kid who was not even five years old.

But after hearing Zhu Qianying's words, he did and said them almost without thinking.

Even after he said that, the little guy still turned his back to him, and even put his hands on Zhu Qianying's neck and hugged her even tighter.

Zhu Qianying knew that the little guy was stuck in a rut and probably wouldn't be able to get out of it anytime soon.

So, he gave Yanhan a reassuring look, and then held Zizai in his arms to help comfort him.

"Son, Daddy treats you the same way Mommy treats you, you know?"

Fearing that saying too much would annoy the little guy, Zhu Qianying didn't say anything more, pushed him away, and kissed him on the cheek again.

"Zizai, go have breakfast with Daddy first. Mommy will come after I've finished washing up."

My mom doesn't work now, and she gets up early every morning to prepare breakfast. By this time, it must be ready already.

Yan Han picked up the little guy and left. Zhu Qianying finished washing up and went to the dining room, where she saw Yan Han spreading cheese on the little guy's bread.

Yan Shao muttered something under his breath, while the little guy expressionlessly held his cup and slowly drank his milk.

"Mommy, sit here!" As soon as he saw Zhu Qianying, Zizai's face immediately lit up with a bright smile.

Zhu Qianying walked over and sat down next to him.

"Are we having bread today? Where's Grandma?"

Zhu Qianying found it strange. Usually, the breakfast table was full of porridge, noodles, and pastries. This was the first time she had such a simple breakfast since moving to the new house.

"Mom just left the house. She said she's going for a job interview," Yan Han answered for Zizai.

"interview?"

Mom found a job? How come she didn't know?

"Yes, that's what she said, about that newly opened big hotel nearby."

Yan Han wasn't entirely sure of the specifics, but he was simply relaying Chen Jing's words.

Seeing that she couldn't get anything out of Yan Han, Zhu Qianying took out her phone to make a call.

Yan Han reached out and pressed her hand down. "At this time, she might be in an interview. Just wait for her news."

Zhu Qianying stared intently at Yan Shao. "You arranged this?"

Yan Han vehemently denied it, "How could that be? I just got back!"
