"Young master and young mistress, shall we bring out the fruit and refreshments?"
The door to the wooden house was pushed open from the inside, and someone poked their head out to ask a question. Zhu Qianying recognized this person; she was the aunt who usually took care of the garden at the mansion.
"I'll do it, I'll do it..."
The little guy volunteered and slipped inside. Zhu Qianying smiled and shook her head. This little guy seemed to be extremely excited, eager to do everything.
"Okay, we can handle it ourselves. We'll call you if we need anything."
Young Master Yan smiled and waved for the aunt to leave.
After walking a short distance on the platform, Zhu Qianying noticed something was amiss and turned to look at Young Master Yan. "Is there underfloor heating here?"
Although the idea is a bit absurd, after all, this is the south, and most people's homes do not have underfloor heating, what else could it be but a warm and comfortable feeling underfoot if not underfloor heating?
"Hmm..." Young Master Yan nodded, then added after a moment, "It's probably similar in principle to underfloor heating..."
Zhu Qianying didn't delve any further; some things lose their meaning if you investigate them too deeply.
The two entered the wooden house one after the other. Meanwhile, the three elders entered the courtyard but did not rush over. Instead, they went around to the other side of the courtyard to admire the scenery.
After entering, Zhu Qianying discovered that there were no chairs or sofas inside. It was more like a tatami-style design. The living room was about several tens of square meters, with two low coffee tables on each side. On each coffee table was a pot of blooming daffodils, with small white flowers vying for attention and emitting a faint fragrance.
Zhu Qianying involuntarily sniffed, "It smells so good..."
Like the platform outside, there were many cushions and pillows that were easy to hug inside the room. Then, Zhu Qianying also found several kinds of dolls and animal cushions that the little guy liked among these cushions. She guessed that they had been added recently according to the little guy's preferences.
All these subtle details reveal the care and attention that Young Master Yan has put into his child.
"It's very thoughtful, and Zai Zai really likes it!"
Zhu Qianying sincerely gave Yan Dashao a thumbs up for his behavior.
Yan Shao turned to look at her with slight surprise, then a smile appeared in his eyes.
"And you?"
Zhu Qianying was slightly taken aback. Meeting his slightly curved eyes, she nodded as if possessed, "I like it too!"
After saying that, Zhu Qianying felt a little annoyed, afraid that Young Master Yan might misunderstand.
Yan Shao's smile deepened, but he simply said, "I like it too!"
Zhu Qianying secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but she herself wasn't quite sure why she felt relieved.
Or perhaps, she knew better than anyone else, but simply chose to ignore it.
"Mommy, come help Zizai... Zizai can't lift it..."
Suddenly, she heard the little guy's voice calling for help coming from one of the rooms. Zhu Qianying quickly followed the sound and soon found the little guy standing on tiptoe in front of the kitchen counter, looking helplessly at the large rotating fruit platter in front of him.
The kitchen, however, is Chinese-style and very simple, seemingly only used for simple cooking. In one corner of the kitchen is a small bar, with various red wines and fruit wines displayed in the wall cabinet.
The designer is brilliant; he has managed to blend two seemingly unrelated structures into a harmonious whole, without any sense of incongruity.
"Come on, let Mommy help you carry it out, okay?"
Zhu Qianying's words made the little guy giggle.
"Hehehe, this fruit platter is huge, we'll have to lift it..."
After laughing for a while, he muttered, "Two monks carrying water to drink..." It turned out that his point of laughter was this.
Young Master Yan was drawn over by his son's laughter and peeked in to ask, "Sweetie, what are you laughing at?"
Zhu Qianying glanced at her son, who was still smiling, and kindly explained, "Mommy and I are both monks!"
Yan Shao was completely confused and looked at Zhu Qianying with bewilderment.
Zhu Qianying shrugged, offering no explanation, but instead worked with her son to carry the fruit platter outside and place it on the platform under the eaves.
Two hardworking porters quickly carried out the fruit, snacks, tea, and other items, arranging them neatly in a long line.
Yan Shao was fiddling with something at the small bar. After a while, he came out with two cute-looking drinks that looked like cocktails. He handed one to the little guy and the other to Zhu Qianying.
The little guy took it, raised his eyes, gazed at Yan Shao quietly for a moment, and then softly said, "Thank you, Daddy!"
Yan Shao winked at him, placed his large hand on the top of his head, and rubbed it vigorously a few times.
Zhu Qianying finally managed to pull her gaze away from the increasingly tacit and loving interaction between the father and son, and carefully examined the drink in her hand.
To be honest, it looks pretty good, but as for the taste...
Zhu Qianying was not someone who would be easily fooled by appearances. She brought the cup to her nose, swirled it slightly, and took a careful sniff.
Long Island Iced Tea?
As she asked the question, she slightly raised her eyes to glance at Young Master Yan.
Yan Shao curled the corners of his lips, which could be considered an admission.
"Trying to get me drunk?" Zhu Qianying's words were more of a joke than a question.
Yan Shao seemed to sense the pleasure in her words, so he shrugged in the same way she had just done, "I don't want you to be drunk, but being drunk is fine."
Zhu Qianying immediately understood his implication, glared at him, and was speechless.
Young Master Yan teased her a little, feeling quite pleased. He picked up the little one and placed her on his lap, then sat down cross-legged next to Zhu Qianying.
"Baby, do you know what this cup is called?"
The little one looked at the beautiful layers of colors in the cup, tilted his head, and asked, "Is it called a rainbow?"
Yan Shao was slightly taken aback, then nodded, "Yes, baby is so smart, let's name it Rainbow."
Judging from Yan Shao's reaction, the little guy's drink was clearly not called Rainbow.
However, from today onwards, a beautiful rainbow has appeared in Zizai's heart. He will probably never forget the special drink called "Rainbow" that his father made for him on New Year's Eve when he turned five.
As Zhu Qianying thought this, her eyes became slightly moist. She looked up at the shimmering lake outside the courtyard and blinked hard.
The little guy was pleased with the praise. He lowered his head, took a sip of his drink with great enjoyment, then looked up and sighed deeply, "Mmm...it tastes good..."
Yan Shao and Zhu Qianying couldn't help but laugh at the little guy, and they both grinned in unison.
After tasting his own rainbow cocktail, the little guy's gaze fell on the cocktail in Zhu Qianying's hand. "Mommy's, is it called 'Light of Hope'?"
