Chapter 422: A Glimmer of Hope

"Young Master Yan, I've brought Xiao Wei here to apologize to you!"

As he spoke, he took two glasses of wine, shoved one into Yi Wei's hand, and held the other himself.

Yan Shao looked at the person in front of him with great interest and extended his hand. Qin Xiu immediately understood and placed a glass of wine in Yan Shao's hand.

"Young Master Wang, you're exaggerating. Xiao Wei hasn't done anything wrong, so why should she apologize?"

Generally, there are two reasons why someone might say the other party is not wrong: either the other party is genuinely innocent, or they simply don't want to give the other party a chance to apologize, which is why they insist the other party is innocent.

In this situation, it's clear to anyone with eyes that Young Master Yan has no intention of giving Yi Wei a chance to apologize.

"Brother Han..."

Yi Wei still held Yan Han in more awe than anything else. Now, being pushed in front of Yan Han by Wang Wenjie, she wasn't thinking of speaking up for the benefit of the Yi and Wang families, but rather hoping that Yan Han could forgive her.

Ultimately, the reason she refused to agree to the Wang family's offer was not only because Wang Wenjie was a disabled person she was ashamed to face, but also because she simply couldn't believe that Yan Han could be so heartless towards her.

The phrase "too naive and innocent" is most fitting to describe Yi Wei.

Ignoring Yi Wei's sorrowful face, Yan Shao simply handed Wang Wenjie a wine glass and downed it in one gulp.

"Young Master Wang, please take good care of Xiao Wei!"

Wang Wenjie nodded in agreement, "Of course, I will treat her well! Don't worry, Young Master Yan!"

"There's nothing to worry about. We're all adults. We think things through before we act, and we can take responsibility for any mistakes we make, right?"

Throughout the entire conversation, Yan Shao never glanced at Yi Wei. While his words appeared to be addressed to Wang Wenjie, they were, in reality, mostly meant for Yi Wei.

Yi Wei originally wanted to salvage something, but after hearing Yan Shao's words and seeing that he wouldn't even look at her directly, her heart turned to ice. After calling him "Brother Han," she remained silent.

After that, he just stood next to Wang Wenjie with his head down, listening to him chat and make friends with Yan Shao.

Yan Shao wasn't particularly enthusiastic towards Wang Wenjie, but he acted like any other person, as if all the "good" things Wang Wenjie had done for him recently had never happened.

Yi Wei left the party after a short time. Qin Xiu told Yan Shao about this, but Yan Shao and Qin Xiu stayed until the party ended before bidding farewell to their host and leaving.

When Yan Shao returned home, it was already past eight o'clock. Since Zhu Qianying and Chen Jing were moving out of the Yan family home the next day, the group gathered in the living room to drink tea and chat.

Zizai usually goes to bed at nine o'clock sharp. Seeing that it was almost time, he lay limply on Zhu Qianying's lap and yawned repeatedly.

Upon seeing Young Master Yan return, the little guy was no longer as excited as usual. He didn't even move his body, only raising his eyelids to look at Young Master Yan and lazily calling out, "Daddy!"

Then he yawned a few more times and lay motionless on Zhu Qianying's lap.

Yan Shao didn't blame him. He sat down next to Zhu Qianying, leaned down, brought his face close to the little guy, and kissed him.

"Ugh, Daddy, you stink! Go take a bath..." The little guy frowned, pushed his face away with a look of disgust, and pouted as he muttered.

Clearly, they disliked the smell of alcohol on Yan Shao's body.

Zhu Qianying also frowned, looking down at him with concern.

"Drank a lot?"

Yan Shao responded with an "Mmm." As for his attendance at the party today, he had already informed Zhu Qianying yesterday.

At that time, Zhu Qianying didn't say anything, only gave a faint reply to indicate that she understood.

Her subtle change gave Yan Shao a glimmer of hope.

Because she didn't directly retort with "What's it to me?", which was already a very welcome change for him.

Now, Yan Shao straightened up slightly and met her concerned eyes.

"I ran into Yi Wei at the party just now. It seems that her relationship with Young Master Wang is settled."

Yan Shao knew that Zhu Qianying didn't want to hear the name Yi Wei, but it was a fact that he had met Yi Wei. He wanted to tell her this himself, rather than having it passed around by others until it became unrecognizable before reaching her ears.

Zhu Qianying was slightly surprised. She hadn't expected him to report even something like this to her. After a moment of silence, she spoke.

"That's a good thing!"

She and Yi Wei were both betrayed by the same man, so in a sense, they were kindred spirits.

Of course, her relationship with Yi Wei and Yan Shao is fundamentally different.

In Yi Wei and Yan Shao, Yi Wei is the one who is pampered. In contrast, in her relationship with Yan Shao, Yan Shao is the one who is indulged.

Although Yi Wei did many excessive things to Yan Shao, there were not many direct conflicts or grudges between them, except for the time Yan Shao scolded her at the jewelry store. Therefore, compared to Zhu Junwei, her hatred for Yi Wei was actually less intense.

As for why she didn't want to hear the name Yi Wei, it was more because Yi Wei reminded her of the days after her wedding when she went from heaven to hell.

Today, even that feeling has faded considerably.

Yan Shao was also somewhat surprised by her reaction.

When he told her last night that he was going to this party, she only responded once, which already surprised him greatly. Now that he was talking to her about Yi Wei, she actually responded to him.

Originally, he was mentally prepared that even if he brought it up with her, the best response would be her silence.

"Yes, it's definitely a good thing!"

Overjoyed, Yan Shao could only respond in this way for the time being.

Meanwhile, Zizai, who had already drifted into a hazy dream, only realized what was happening when he heard his parents talking. He suddenly sat up and slapped Yan Shao's chin with his little hand.

"You are not allowed to see that woman!"

Zhu Qianying and Yan Shao were both stunned for a moment before realizing that the woman the little guy was talking about was actually Yi Wei.

Yan Shao chuckled, took his hand, kissed it, and made a very serious promise.

"Don't worry, baby, Daddy won't go to see her!" His eyes, however, were filled with affection as he looked at Zhu Qianying.

Zhu Qianying coughed twice, turned her face away, and ignored him.

She paused for a moment, then moved Zizai's head into Yan Shao's arms before getting up and going to the kitchen.

A few minutes later, she came out with a steaming cup that looked like tea.

"Drink it while it's hot."

Zhu Qianying handed the cup to Yan Shao, who made no attempt to hide his surprise and accepted the cup with a smile.

"What's this?"

"poison!"

Zhu Qianying turned around and plopped back down on the sofa. She was actually a little angry with herself. He had just drunk too much. He was the one who was feeling unwell, not her. Why did she suddenly have the urge to make him hangover tea?

Moreover, if he hadn't asked her, she wouldn't have realized that she had done such a stupid thing!
