Chapter 436 The Unspoiled Young Master

After lunch, everyone drank tea and rested for a while before starting to prepare for the afternoon barbecue.

Zhu Qianying's hand had basically healed, so she helped with light tasks such as marinating chicken wings and preparing sauces. The three men set up the barbecue grill outside and moved tables and chairs. Everyone went in and out, carrying food and drinks to the backyard.

Even the children, including Zizai and Nannan, helped carry some fruit and such.

"Sure enough, children need a good role model. Usually, Nannan and Tingting are incredibly lazy, but now that Zizai is their role model, the two little rascals have become much more diligent."

Shao Shan volunteered to be the barbecue helper, brushing sauce onto the chicken wings. Seeing her daughter and son behaving like completely different people, she was deeply moved.

“Zizai lives abroad with my mom and me. We both have jobs, so we don’t have much time to take care of him. We try to let him do the chores himself as much as possible.”

Now, Zhu Qianying couldn't help but think that if Zizai had grown up in the Yan family, he would probably be the second Young Master Yan, living a life of luxury from a young age, with everything done for him. He would probably be much lazier than the two children in the Qin family.

"It's so good that Zizai is like this. He's not spoiled at all, and he doesn't seem like a young master from a wealthy family."

In comparison, it's true that Nannan and Tingting are much more spoiled than Zizai, acting more like young ladies and gentlemen.

"It seems I should send them both to kindergarten. I feel like I'm going to get depressed if I go back to work and stay at home all the time."

Shao Shan's personality has indeed changed a lot after marriage. Fortunately, Qin Xiu understands and tolerates her, otherwise, they would have divorced long ago.

“I don’t approve of being a full-time housewife either. Of course, you’re doing this out of necessity. The quality of nannies varies greatly these days, and it’s really hard to entrust your child to them.”

Zizai is now over four years old and has never been cared for by a nanny. Before, in the United States, he was cared for by Zhu Qianying and Chen Jing.

After returning to China, Zizai stayed at the Yan family home, and surprisingly, no one mentioned hiring another nanny. He was taken care of entirely by Yan Shao or Yan Bo and his wife.

In this respect, Zhu Qianying was actually quite moved.

The Yan family didn't hire a nanny to take care of Zizai, not because they couldn't afford one, but because both Yan Bo and his wife, as well as Yan Shao, felt they had missed out on Zizai's childhood and now wanted to spend as much time with him as possible, even if it was tiring, they were happy to do so.

"Yes, it's fine when I'm with Qin Xiu, because we can talk about a lot of things from the past. But when I'm with the two of you, I realize that I'm really out of touch with society."

“If I don’t find a job soon, in two or three years when my daughter starts elementary school, I’m afraid I’ll be completely unable to work and will have to rely on Qin Xiu to support me. It seems I need to talk to Qin Xiu as soon as possible about hiring a nanny to do housework, and we can pick up the child after get off work in the evening.”

Shao Shan's decision received strong support from Zhu Qianying and An Lan.

In their view, no matter how capable their husbands or boyfriends are, women should not allow themselves to be completely dependent on men.

If objective conditions permit, it is best to have your own career, so as to have more to rely on and more security.

Most importantly, one must live up to the survival skills bestowed upon them by God and prove their worth.

A husband, children, and family shouldn't be a woman's entire life. And a woman's name shouldn't just refer to someone's wife or someone's parents.

"Sister Shan, Young Master Yan asked Qin Xiu to find a part-time housekeeper for my family. She's efficient and has a great personality. Why don't you have her come to your house as a nanny?"

"And what about you?" Shao Shan was a little tempted.

"My hand is completely fine now, and doing some housework can also help with the recovery."

Zhu Qianying was not a pampered young lady; doing housework was a form of exercise for her.

Occasionally, when she experiences a creative block, she will grab a rag and wipe the furniture and windows clean. Then, inspiration will flow in like sunlight streaming through the window.

This trick is still very effective against Zhu Qianying.

Over time, even Chen Jing started to leave the house cleaning to Zhu Qianying.

Cheng Ye's vacation for Zhu Qianying has almost ended as she recovers from her injury, and now she will be returning to work.

That's why she agreed so readily to let Young Master Yan stay.

After all, in such a picturesque place, it's very easy to spark inspiration.

Young Master Yan had no idea that the hourly worker he had specially asked Uncle Hai to find so that Zhu Qianying wouldn't have to work so hard would actually be transferred to Shao Shan by Zhu Qianying.

By the time he found out, Aunt Lan had already been working at Qin Xiu's house for a week. Of course, that's a story for another time.

The barbecue party, which had only nine people, was surprisingly lively. By evening, a lot of the meat and seafood that Shao Shan had prepared had been devoured by everyone.

Apart from the three children and Zhu Qianying, who kept saying she was fine but was still unanimously classified as a patient, the other three men and two women had all drunk quite a bit of alcohol.

Zhu Qianying was forced to abstain from alcohol by everyone, and sitting with them was a bit boring, so she took the initiative to stand in front of the barbecue grill to serve everyone. Little Zizai was still having a great time playing with Nannan, but as soon as he saw his mother barbecuing, he would come over to help from time to time, running errands and carrying trays of grilled food to the adults sitting around the table drinking and chatting.

"Tsk, Kai, are we going to get our wages docked if we go back tomorrow?!"

Qin Xiu also felt that he had gone too far. He was the master, yet he made the landlady and the young master serve them. Even if it wouldn't shorten his lifespan, he was afraid that Young Master Yan would be unhappy.

Ke Kai kicked him, "Knowing this is the case, why don't you lazy pigs hurry up and help?"

Qin Xiu then touched his nose, got up, and went to help Zhu Qianying.

Over there, Zhu Qianying had already overheard their conversation and called over with a smile.

"Brother Qin, sit down and eat slowly. If you let me over now, I might just drink your rare Lafite bottle."

Upon hearing her words, Yan Shao, who hadn't originally intended to stop Qin Xiu, immediately glared at him and said, "Sit down, I won't deduct your wages!"

Rather than having Zhu Qianying do some work, Yan Shao was even more reluctant to let her drink alcohol. It wasn't that he was afraid she would behave badly when drunk, but he was always concerned that drinking would affect the recovery of her wounds.

However, no one really treated Zhu Qianying as a servant. Shao Shan and An Lan took turns going to accompany Zhu Qianying. In the end, it was actually Young Master Yan who stood by Zhu Qianying's side.

Young Master Yan, who had never cooked a chicken wing for himself before, personally roasted a chicken leg for his beloved son. The little guy pulled on the chicken leg, pouted his greasy lips, said "Thank you, Daddy," and then turned around to go play again.

After figuring out Zhu Qianying's preferences, Yan Shao took a few skewers of mushrooms and a corn cob and put them on the grill.
