Zhu Qianying was in a dilemma because if she moved there, her mother would be left alone, and she was worried about that.
Yan Shao actually thought his father made sense, but seeing Zhu Qianying hesitate and remain silent, he roughly guessed what she was thinking.
"Ying'er, why don't we let Mom move back home for a few days? Anyway, didn't she say she wanted to get a good luck charm for you and Zizai tomorrow? Perfect, you can go with Dad and Mom."
Yan Shao's supplementary suggestion did indeed dispel Zhu Qianying's concerns.
Looking around the room, the three adults and one child were all looking at her expectantly, patiently waiting for her answer. Even if she didn't want to, she had to answer!
"Okay, I'll go pack now and pick Mom up later, okay?"
Since she agreed to go home together, other small details are not important at all.
Zhu Qianying went to pack her luggage, but her hand was injured, making the process quite inconvenient.
The two gentlemen and one young lady sitting in the house were all incapable of doing housework. Of course, if Zhu Qianying didn't mind that Old Madam Yan or Young Master Yan had made a mess of her things, she wouldn't have to do any housework herself.
However, she knew all too well how inept Young Master Yan and Old Madam Yan were at housework, so she dared not have any expectations and had no choice but to take care of it herself.
"Mommy, let me help you!"
The little guy was clever and thoughtful. He ran over and dragged a small stool over, then trotted after Zhu Qianying into the room.
It was nearly eleven o'clock when they got back to the Yan family home. After all that running around, everyone was exhausted and went back to their rooms to shower and rest.
The guest room where Chen Jing and Zhu Qianying used to stay is still preserved in its original state.
However, it is clear that Zhu Qianying no longer needs to sleep in that guest room.
Shortly after he returned, young master Zizai had his own room, but before that, he always slept with the adults in the family for various reasons, such as "wanting to occupy the old bastard's big bed." Only recently did he voluntarily go back to his own bedroom to sleep.
The Yan family did not force or interfere too much, because everyone knew that the young master's behavior was ultimately just a lack of security.
Yan Shao and Zhu Qianying stayed in the little guy's room until he fell asleep peacefully before quietly leaving.
The little guy's room was next to Yan Bo and his wife's bedroom on the left side of the stairs. After coming out, Yan Shao put his arm around Zhu Qianying's waist and walked along the long corridor to the bedroom door.
Naturally, Yan Shao reached out to open the door, but Zhu Qianying subconsciously stopped in her tracks.
Yan Shao had been feeling uneasy all along. When he saw her stop, his heart skipped a beat.
"Ying'er?"
He didn't rush her; he simply called out softly, then tightened his arms around her, holding her close, pressing his face against her hair, gently rubbing it, patiently waiting.
Zhu Qianying did not respond to him, but stared intently at the familiar yet unfamiliar door, as if she were in another world.
Those memories that I had been forcibly suppressing vaguely surged into my mind.
Time seemed to stand still, frozen in place.
The long, wide corridor was completely silent.
The sound of their breathing rose and fell in their ears.
At first, Yan Shao was anxious, but gradually he relaxed because he understood that this door was the last door in Zhu Qianying's heart.
If she takes the initiative to move on today, it means that she has truly let go of the past and is ready to start anew.
If she ultimately backs down, it means that she lacks the courage to face the new future.
Her courage stemmed largely from the sense of security he gave her.
Therefore, if she backs down, ultimately it's because he didn't do enough and didn't give her enough confidence and determination.
Zhu Qianying was unaware of Yan Shao's many thoughts, and her hesitation stemmed less from a lack of courage to face the future and more from a lack of courage to face the past.
But she understood perfectly well that if she couldn't step through that door, it meant that her so-called letting go was nothing but a joke.
The two stood there nestled together in front of the door. Finally, Yan Shao couldn't resist and turned around, holding Zhu Qianying in his arms.
If she's not ready yet, he's willing to wait patiently!
The pressure from the hand at her waist shifted, startling Zhu Qianying slightly, her thoughts returning from the past to the present.
She placed her hand on the back of the man's hand that was on her waist and patted it gently, as if to comfort him, or perhaps to encourage herself.
She looked up, smiled slightly at the man with deep eyes, took a deep breath, and extended her right hand, pressing her index finger onto the fingerprint scanner.
The door clicked open, and the two of them simultaneously let out a long sigh of relief.
Then, she raised her head again, her gaze natural and calm, and blinked at the man who had been quietly watching her.
"Welcome back, my darling!"
The moment he stepped into the room, Yan Shao stopped in his tracks, lowered his head, and kissed her deeply on the lips.
"Um……"
The low acquiescence was like a meaningless murmur, or perhaps a form of indulgence.
Or, more precisely, a sense of relief!
After he released her, Zhu Qianying was able to look around and then she realized that nothing had changed at all.
She was surprised, unaware that it was because of his careful reservation.
Or perhaps, it's for her own memories, as clear as yesterday.
At the small movie theater, she and he used to snuggle together watching romantic art films. As they watched, she shed tears, while he yawned incessantly...
At the bar, she had once challenged him to a drinking contest. In the end, naturally, she was the one who got completely drunk, and then, some unscrupulous person carried her to bed and took advantage of her...
As for that bed...
Even though Zhu Qianying prided herself on having a thick skin, the image of that bed was too beautiful and too crazy for her to recall any further.
Zhu Qianying, her face burning hot as if she had been pancakeed, awkwardly forced her gaze away from the large bed.
My gaze inadvertently fell on the somewhat familiar plant in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass window.
"That is..."
Yan Shao's gaze followed Zhu Qianying's gaze.
When his gaze fell upon the emerald green leaves, he slightly curved his lips, released her, strode over, picked up the pot with one hand, and carried it back to her in his arms.
"Do you still remember it?" Yan Shao looked at Zhu Qianying expectantly, as if trying to read something from her face.
Zhu Qianying's gaze swept back and forth between Ye Zi and the man's faces, her eyes calm and still, yet she refused to say whether she remembered or had forgotten.
"It's our token of love, darling, how could you forget it?" Yan Shao smiled as he handed the potted plant to Zhu Qianying.
