Chapter 683. Buy Small, Get Big Free

"Sir, Uncle Dong is just a little weak, but otherwise he's fine. He'll be alright after a few days of rest."

When Du Ting saw them, he quietly reported Dong Shu's situation to them.

Even after hearing Du Ting say that, Zhu Qianying was still a little worried, "Did you manage to avoid damaging his wounds on the way back?"

Du Ting seemed to have anticipated her question. "He should be fine. I reckon they've been taking good care of Uncle Dong along the way. Apart from being a little tired, he's fine. You and Grandpa should go and rest. I'll stay here and wait for Uncle Dong to wake up. Then we'll take him to the hospital for a thorough examination, including his head."

Zhu Qianying was relieved and followed Yan Shao out of the guest room.

Zhu Qianying didn't sleep well that night. She fell asleep around 5 a.m. and woke up around 7 a.m.

When I woke up, there was no one beside me.

Needless to say, Young Master Yan went for his morning exercise again, rain or shine.

Zhu Qianying propped herself up and sat up, staring blankly for a moment. She went out onto the terrace and looked around. Sure enough, she saw Young Master Yan jogging in the garden with Zizai and Xingxing. Xiao Luzi, who usually did morning exercises with them, was nowhere to be seen today.

It seems that the young master couldn't bear to spoil the mother and daughter's time alone after learning that Bai Shao had returned.

After washing up, Zhu Qianying called her mother. Chen Jing, who was on the other end of the line, was overjoyed to hear that Bai Xiangdong and Bai Shao had returned safely and said she would come over to see Bai Xiangdong immediately.

Zhu Qianying was preparing breakfast and was considering whether to wake Bai Shao and her daughter when loud crying came from Xiao Luzi's bedroom. It was Bai Xiaolu's voice.

Zhu Qianying hesitated for a moment in the living room, but in the end, she did not go in to disturb the mother and daughter. The crying continued for a few minutes and then stopped. A few minutes later, Zhu Qianying, who was setting the table, heard a door open. She looked in the direction of the sound and saw Bai Shao leading Bai Xiaolu out.

"Good morning, Xiao Lu!"

Both mother and daughter had red eyes, but Zhu Qianying ignored them, smiling and greeting Bai Xiaolu, gesturing for the two to come and have breakfast.

Good morning, Aunt Shadow!

Bai Xiaolu's voice trembled slightly, clearly indicating that she hadn't fully recovered from her emotions.

"I'll take her to see my dad first!"

Bai Shao pointed to the room where Bai Xiangdong slept, and Zhu Qianying nodded.

When Bai Xiaolu came out of Bai Xiangdong's room with red and swollen eyes, Zizai and Yan Shao also came out after taking a shower and changing into clean clothes. Zizai first greeted Bai Shao, "Hello, Aunt Xiao Shao!"

Then, with a worried look on his face, he looked at Bai Xiaolu, reached out his hand, and led her into the dining room.

However, although Bai Xiaolu's eyes were red and swollen from crying, she was actually in a good mood. She ate a large bowl of porridge and several steamed buns in one go.

Bai Shao couldn't help but reach out and pinch her daughter's cheek. "Baby, when did you become such a big eater?"

The little girl blinked, glanced at Zhu Qianying, then at her mother, and said, "That's because your breakfast is awful..."

Seeing that the little girl had returned to her usual sarcastic self, Zhu Qianying felt much relieved. Then she heard her friend say to the little girl, "Tsk tsk, it seems that your Aunt Shadow has spoiled you and made you a picky eater. I might as well give you to Aunt Shadow."

Zhu Qianying smiled and said, "If you and Uncle Dong are willing to part with it, I don't mind! Anyway, it'll just be one more pair of chopsticks and one more bowl at home."

Bai Shao laughed, "How about buying one small and getting two big ones free, Shadow? Why don't my dad and I just stay at your place too?"

The three adults present all knew it was a joke, but Zizai and Xiaoluzi believed it anyway.

They clapped their hands in unison and exclaimed, "Great! Let's live together!"

The three adults, who had a vague premonition of what was about to happen, looked at each other in bewilderment.

Now, neither Zhu Qianying nor Bai Shao dared to joke about this issue anymore, and quickly changed to a more serious topic to prevent the two little ones from delving deeper into the issue of "living together".

Children are forgetful; if adults don't mention it, they'll forget about it in no time.

After breakfast, Bai Xiaolu was clinging to Bai Shao, but Zhu Qianying sent her off to groom Xingxing's fur.

Seeing the two little ones lead Xingxing outside the yard, Zhu Qianying told Bai Shao about Zong Mao and his wife coming to find them.

Bai Shao listened quietly, only saying "I understand," before turning to look at the children and dog outside the yard. After a long while, she said to Zhu Qianying, "Yingzi, I expected this outcome."

She wasn't stupid. If it weren't for Bai Xiaolu, Zong Zhe and she would have absolutely no connection, and the same goes for the Zong family.

Since they have absolutely no connection, who would go to such great lengths to send her and her father abroad and risk their lives to find Dr. Zhao to perform surgery on her father?

She didn't think that Bai Shao had that much influence.

Therefore, as early as when Jiang Qi approached her, she had already vaguely understood that Zong Zhehua had gone to so much trouble and done so much, but it was all for Bai Xiaolu.

Since she chose to accept their help in the first place, she now only has one path to take.

However, there was one thing she couldn't understand.

"Shadow, you said Xiaolu's grandparents are looking for us?"

Zhu Qianying nodded, "Yes, it was Young Master Yan who interfered with this matter. I didn't see him."

Bai Shao muttered to herself, puzzled, "I thought Zong Zhe would come to ask for Xiao Luzi back himself!"

Zhu Qianying sighed inwardly. She really wanted to tell her friend the truth, but perhaps because this secret had been kept for too long, she couldn't bring herself to speak.

Bai Shao was still lost in her own thoughts and therefore did not notice anything unusual about her friend.

Finally, after pondering for a while, Bai Shao came to this conclusion: "It seems that Zong Zhe came here only because his parents didn't want the Zong family's flesh and blood to be scattered outside. As for him, he can have as many women as he wants; he doesn't need another crook."

As she spoke, her words became full of sarcasm. Zhu Qianying didn't know how to comfort her, so she simply reached out and gently hugged her. "Xiao Shao, let nature take its course. As long as you're here, Xiao Luzi will be fine no matter where she goes."

Zhu Qianying firmly believed this.

My friend may seem a bit carefree on the surface, but she is actually quite meticulous. Her care and love for her child is no less than that of an average loving mother.

As for her friend's misunderstanding of Zongzhe, Zhu Qianying wanted to clarify it, but couldn't find a suitable time to do so.

She could only bury her head in the sand and think, "Maybe I should leave this problem to the Zong family or Jiang Qi to solve."

After all, she had no idea what had happened between her friend and Zongzhe back then, and she couldn't predict what her friend would have to face now.
