Chapter 691. Slowly Accepting

As Yan Shao cursed, he sighed inwardly.

My wife is really carefree.

Other men's wives are always calculating their husbands' assets, afraid that if their husbands have a little more money in their pockets, they will go out and fool around.

She, on the other hand, he had already laid out everything to her, but she wasn't even interested in looking at it!

Zhu Qianying shrank back and didn't dare to say a word.

Because she could tell that Young Master Yan was currently very angry.

As for why he was angry?

Naturally, he was angry that she didn't care about his affairs. Young Master Yan's reason was actually a bit absurd, but who is Young Master Yan? It's understandable that his reasons for being angry are different from others.

Seeing that Zhu Qianying remained silent, Yan Shao knew he had guessed correctly and raised his hand to slap her on the buttocks.

Zhu Qianying opened her eyes wide and looked at him pitifully.

Seeing this, she realized he couldn't bring himself to hit her.

The two were locked in a stalemate when suddenly there was a loud knocking on the door, followed by Zizai's anxious cries.

"Daddy! Mommy! Open the door!"

Yan Shao quickly scooped up Zhu Qianying. Perhaps he was too anxious, because he simply grabbed her around the waist and ran barefoot to the door, where he opened it.

As soon as the door opened, Zizai rushed over anxiously, his voice filled with fear.

"Daddy, Mommy, Bai Xiaolu is missing!"

Zhu Qianying, who had been put down by Yan Shao, looked at him in bewilderment.

Before the two could exchange many words, Zizai pulled them desperately toward his room, because Bai Xiaolu lived next door to him.

This was the third night since Bai Shao and her family left. The previous two nights, Zizai hadn't shown any unusual behavior, and Zhu Qianying thought her son had gradually accepted the fact.

But now it seems that Zai Zai has not accepted this fact. He just keeps everything to himself. At night, he is probably awakened by nightmares, or perhaps he is sleepwalking.

"baby……"

Yan Shao bent down and picked up his son, trying to comfort him, but Zizai didn't even look at him or Zhu Qianying. He just kept pointing anxiously in the direction of his room and said, "Daddy and Mommy, hurry up and go find out where Bai Xiaolu is hiding. It's dark, she's scared!"

Zhu Qianying grabbed his chubby little hand, trying to talk to him, "Baby..."

But Zizai wouldn't listen to her at all, only looking at her pitifully with reddened eyes, "Mommy, Bai Xiaolu will be scared, please find her and bring her back..."

Clearly, he couldn't hear what his parents were saying.

Seeing her precious son like this, Zhu Qianying felt heartbroken and had no choice but to carry Zizai with Yan Shao to the bedroom where Bai Xiaolu used to live.

After entering the room, Zizai pulled Zhu Qianying to the bedside, lifted the blankets and sheets, and talked as he did so.

"Mommy, it's so late, where did she go instead of sleeping?"

Seeing Zizai's anxious and restless appearance, Zhu Qianying really wanted to hold his small body tightly in her arms and comfort him.

The problem is, the little guy seemed oblivious to his parents' distress. He dragged Zhu Qianying through the blankets and sheets, then pulled her into the walk-in closet, opened the cabinet doors, and crawled inside to search everywhere.

Zhu Qianying watched anxiously as her son wandered around the house, while Yan Shao, upon entering the room and seeing his beloved son's condition, quickly retreated and called the psychologist he had consulted before. The psychologist agreed to come immediately.

Afterwards, Yan Shao still felt uneasy, so he called Du Ting again and asked him to bring some sedatives or similar medications and come over as soon as possible.

The counselor and Du Ting entered the room at almost the same time, but that was more than half an hour later.

In the past half hour, Zizai's search for Bai Xiaolu has expanded from the bed and dressing room in the bedroom to the playroom.

If the counselor and Du Ting don't come soon, the little guy will probably start yelling to go look for them in the garden.

The counselor's surname was Xiao. She asked Yan Shao and Zhu Qianying to leave, leaving her in the playroom to accompany Zizai to find Bai Xiaolu.

Zhu Qianying and Yan Shao sat outside with solemn expressions. They were clearly in great agony, but they had to suppress their restlessness and anxiety and wait quietly.

Nearly an hour passed while they waited.

During this time, Yan Shao simply held Zhu Qianying quietly without saying a word. Occasionally, he would touch her head or kiss her forehead to comfort her.

Du Ting, who is usually very talkative, was unusually quiet tonight and didn't say a single word of nonsense.

They didn't even utter a single question.

Presumably, Yan Shao had warned him beforehand over the phone not to say anything carelessly.

Time seemed to stretch out indefinitely. Zhu Qianying leaned quietly against Yan Shao's chest. After a long and painful wait, she finally heard the sound of the door opening.

She jumped up and rushed over, but only the counselor came out of the playroom.

"Teacher Xiao, where's Zizai?"

Zhu Qianying's voice was low, but it was filled with deep worry and anxiety.

Teacher Xiao let out a long sigh of relief, "He's asleep...", then turned to Young Master Yan, "Young Master Yan, why don't you take him back to his bedroom to sleep? It's too big in there, he won't feel safe."

Upon hearing this, Yan Shao slipped into the playroom and quickly brought out Zizai, who was asleep but still had a furrowed brow.

"How about we let him sleep with us for a few days?" Yan Shao looked down at his son in his arms with concern.

It's unclear whether the question was directed at Teacher Xiao, Zhu Qianying, or both.

Zhu Qianying looked at Teacher Xiao, and at this moment, she trusted Teacher Xiao more.

"Yes, that's good. Let him gradually accept this fact before letting him sleep on his own." Teacher Xiao nodded in agreement with Young Master Yan's suggestion.

After carrying Zizai back to his bedroom, Yan Shao put him on the bed and covered him with a blanket. Zhu Qianying, who followed him in, took out two large cotton quilts from the closet and placed them on either side of Zizai.

Although she wasn't sure if this method would work for Zizai, she felt somewhat at ease having something to lean on or hug when she was anxious and unable to sleep.

Looking at her son, who had been tossing and turning for most of the night, and who had finally fallen asleep, Zhu Qianying sighed.

When the two saw Teacher Xiao off, she gave them some more instructions along the way and said that she would come over to chat with Zizai every evening for the next few days.

Du Ting stayed in the guest room, saying it was to save himself the trouble of running back and forth between the two places. But Zhu Qianying knew that he was probably worried about Zizai, which was why he stayed behind to be on standby at any time.

After seeing Teacher Xiao off, Du Ting, who was able to come and go freely in and out of the Yan family's house, automatically and consciously went up to the third floor to find a guest room to sleep in.

Yan Shao returned to the room with Zhu Qianying and lay down on either side of Zizai. Compared to when he was awake, the sleeping little guy was obviously more peaceful.
