Chapter 781. The Happiness We Want. Part Four

Zhu Qianying and Yan Shao's second baby was born three days before the due date.

And this day happened to be the first day of the Lunar New Year.

On New Year's Eve, the family stayed up late at their lakeside cottage, just like last year.

Unlike last year, this year, Chen Jing, who went back to R City with Luo Yifan for the Spring Festival, was gone, but Zhu Qianying's baby was there.

Zizai has grown another year older. As soon as everyone sat down, he went into the house on his own initiative and brought out a few cushions. He handed the first one to Zhu Qianying.

"Mommy, quickly put this under your back, so it doesn't hurt."

Zhu Qianying smiled and pinched his cheek, "Thank you, my little sweetheart!"

Just as she was about to take it, Yan Shao reached out and took the cushion, placing it behind her lower back.

As Zhu Qianying's pregnancy progressed, Yan Shao and Zizai became even closer to her and took meticulous care of her, just like they are now.

Over there, Madam Yan took the cushion, straightened up, and looked at Zhu Qianying, giving her some instructions.

"Ying'er, your due date is only three or four days away. Be careful and tell me immediately if you feel unwell."

"Mom, I will."

This wasn't Zhu Qianying's first pregnancy, and she was very aware of many of the details that needed attention.

However, she still patiently accepted all the nagging and instructions from the Yan family, from top to bottom.

Zhu Qianying was chatting with Madam Yan and Yan Bo. Afraid that her precious son would be bored, she tugged at Yan Shao's hand and said, "Why don't you two go to the lakeside to set off fireworks and firecrackers!"

Normally, Zhu Qianying would definitely go with the father and son, but now she has many physical limitations, and besides, even if she said she wanted to go, the Yan family would definitely not let her have her way.

Yan Shao looked at her with concern, "Are you alright here by yourself?"

Clearly, he was also afraid of keeping his son cooped up, but at the same time, he was also afraid of keeping Zhu Qianying cooped up.

"I'm going to chat with Mom about parenting tips, you two go have some fun."

In the end, even Yanbo went to set off fireworks.

Old Madam Yan and Zhu Qianying sat there chatting, but their gazes were fixed on the three men and boy from the Yan family who were setting off fireworks in front of them.

"Old Yan hasn't played like this in a long time..." Old Madam Yan sighed.

"Dad wasn't much of a party animal when he was young, was he?"

Zhu Qianying always felt that Yan Bo should have been as gentle and refined as he is now when he was young. Only someone like Yan Shao would be believed to be playful.

"There were times when they played really hard, but I just didn't know..."

Madam Yan's gaze remained fixed on Yan Bo. Even though they had been married for over forty years, her eyes were still fixed on him.

Zhu Qianying believed that her relationship with Yan Shao was currently very good, inseparable. But she wasn't sure if she and Yan Shao would still be able to maintain the same intense, passionate love when they were in their sixties or seventies, like two old people.

So when she heard Madam Yan's answer, she was very surprised, "Mom, are you telling the truth?"

She didn't even have time to think it through; asking such a question was a bit inappropriate.

"Silly child, are you thinking the wrong thing?"

Madam Yan gave her a smirk and said, "When I said 'playing hard,' I meant playing innocently, not the kind of improper or messy kind of playing!"

Zhu Qianying let out an "Oh!" and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Yan Bo's glorious and great image almost collapsed.

"To be honest, no matter whether the children of the Yan family appear calm, arrogant, or gentle on the outside, their inherent righteousness and orthodoxy can never be erased!"

Zhu Qianying agreed with what Madam Yan said.

No need to say anything else, just look at this little guy, Zizai, and you'll know.

In the past, Zhu Qianying always thought that most children from wealthy families were spoiled brats.

But now, all she can say is that spoiled brats are more common in nouveau riche families. In a traditional family like the Yan family, with its deep foundation and rich heritage, the discipline of children is usually very strict.

“Your dad lost a lot because of me. Those years weren’t easy for me either. There was already a lot of unrest in the family, and his dad would cause me trouble from time to time. If it weren’t for your dad’s tolerant nature, we wouldn’t have made it to the end.”

Neither Yan Bo nor Madam Yan were the kind of old people who liked to reminisce about their past glories. Therefore, Zhu Qianying's account of their past was basically pieced together from a few casual remarks that occasionally came out of the corner of her mouth.

"When it comes to being stubborn, Xiaohan is just like his father."

Madam Yan's words were naturally referring to Yan Han's stubbornness and persistence over the past few years.

"Mom, I'm sorry!"

In this matter, Zhu Qianying didn't feel she had done anything wrong, nor did she feel guilty towards Young Master Yan. However, she also knew that the two elders were not young anymore, and she had always caused them worry about her and Young Master Yan. Therefore, she felt guilty towards them.

"Silly girl, don't say that again. We all know who's right and who's wrong. Anyway, just live your life well from now on. Life is only a few decades long, so try to make fewer troubles and cherish it more."

"Yes, we will!"

The two were still chatting when the little guy, terrified by a firecracker that had been following him around, started running around and screaming wildly by the lake. Young Master Yan and Yan Bo were laughing, while Zhu Qianying and Old Madam Yan, watching from afar, couldn't help but laugh as well.

Chatting and laughing like this, the countdown soon began. The three generations of the family put out the incense that had been used to light the firecrackers and ran back to the eaves.

"This is so much fun!" The little one nimbly climbed onto the platform. "Mommy, will my little sister be walking by this time next year?"

Zhu Qianying thought for a moment and nodded, "Yes, by then the baby will be one year old, and normally, he/she will be able to walk!"

My son started walking at nine months old, and he started talking and walking even earlier. I guess he'll be about the same age as his older brother.

"Then I'll set off some really beautiful fireworks for my sister next year!"

The little one, his face full of anticipation, crawled over to her using both hands and feet and sat down next to her.

Yan Shao also sat down, and as usual, he stretched out his long arms and easily pulled his wife and son into his arms.

In front of the five people was a laptop, which had been playing the Spring Festival Gala, but the volume was turned down very low. Now that it was almost time, Yan Shao turned the volume up to the maximum. With the screen showing the hosts and performers gathered on one stage, the host's countdown voice came from the computer.

"Ten...nine...eight...three...two...one! Happy New Year!"

As soon as the host on the screen finished speaking, Yan Shao's lips landed on Zhu Qianying's lips, carrying a hint of the coolness of a winter breeze, and he gently caressed her lips a few times. "Baby, Happy New Year!"

Zhu Qianying returned his kiss, "Happy New Year, my love!"

Then, Qi Qi kissed the little boy who was looking up at them, "Happy New Year, my little darlings!"
