Chapter 807. Little One and Her Brother. Part Two (Fourth Update)

The bird was indeed injured, on its underside, seemingly from a stab wound. Its feathers and dried blood were matted together, and it looked quite serious.

Zhu Qianying originally wanted to send Zizai and Xiaoxiao away because the little bird reminded her of the way Zizai looked when she found him at the bottom of the deep pool.

But both Zai Zai and Xiao Xiao insisted on staying by their side.

Xiaoxiao is curious about everything. She often babbles incessantly, although the adults don't always understand what she's saying.

But at this moment, she had a stern little face and stared very seriously at the little bird lying on the dry towel.

Zizai's expression was very solemn. If Zhu Qianying hadn't made a mistake, he must have remembered what happened back then.

Zhu Qianying dipped a cotton swab in disinfectant and gently wiped the wound on the little bird's belly. Halfway through washing, she heard Zizai's very low voice.

"Mommy, weren't I terrified of you back then?"

Perhaps it was because Zhu Qianying had inadvertently revealed a sorrowful expression, that the quick-witted Zizai naturally connected the bird's matter with his own.

Zhu Qianying's eyes reddened, and she almost couldn't hold back her tears.

She tilted her head back slightly, blinked hard, then lowered her head to Zizai's face and gently kissed him.

"Baby, Daddy and Mommy have always believed in you and believe that you will take good care of yourself."

She didn't mention how heartbroken she was at the time, nor whether she was so scared that she lost her mind. She simply told him about the beliefs she held at the time.

Zizai reached out and placed his hand on her face. It was a small hand, but it was warm, just like the warmth of his father's big hand.

"Yes, the little bird will get better just like me..."

Zhu Qianying raised her hand and secretly wiped the corner of her eye.

She was so happy that Zai Zai had truly moved on from that incident.

To avoid losing her composure in front of her son, Zhu Qianying turned her attention back to the bird's belly.

"Baby, help Mommy find some anti-inflammatory ointment."

Zizai picked up the first-aid kit and put it on the ground to search for it. Xiaoxiao didn't know if she understood or not. She squatted down next to her older brother and watched Zizai slowly search for the medicine. Her usual mischievousness was completely absent from her at this moment.

Zizai pursed his lips and searched for a while before finally finding a small tube of ointment. He got up and handed it to Zhu Qianying.

"Mommy, is this the one?"

Zhu Qianying was carefully trimming the feathers off the bird's belly. She glanced at the ointment in his hand and nodded, "Yes, that's it."

Zizai put the ointment on the table and turned to look for gauze or bandages. As soon as he turned around, he saw Xiaoxiao raising her little hand, "Whoosh...fly..."

A band-aid was placed on the little hand.

Zizai squatted down and hugged his little sister, "My little sister is so smart..."

Xiao Xiao has never had any illnesses since childhood, but it's common for her to fall down and get hurt.

When a little girl falls and bleeds, her father or family members will disinfect the wound, apply some ointment, and then put on a band-aid.

Usually, while applying the patch, Zizai would also comfort her, saying, "Brother will blow on it, and the pain will fly away!"

Clearly, in her little mind, she had connected the injured bird with the situation when she fell and hurt herself. No wonder she had been keeping her mouth shut and not saying much since she saw the wound on the bird's belly, her little face tense and looking very nervous and concerned.

I guess she thinks the little bird must be in just as much pain as she was when she fell!

Hearing her daughter's voice, Zhu Qianying glanced over and saw the bandage on her hand, feeling a surge of warmth in her heart.

It seems she has two very kind children.

She had once seen her daughter being pampered and spoiled by the Yan family, and she was quite worried.

She worried that her daughter would be spoiled and become an unreasonable rich girl.

But now, she is certain that her precious daughter, though pampered and spoiled, will never become a spoiled young lady like the daughters of the Zhu family or Yi Wei.

The ointment and bandages that Zizai and Xiaoxiao had found were placed on the coffee table, and Zhu Qianying thanked the two little ones.

The two little ones had nothing to do, but they weren't in a hurry to run away. One knelt on the carpet, and the other stood, both leaning on the coffee table, their chins propped up, staring intently at the bird's wound.

It wasn't until Zhu Qianying applied ointment and bandage to the wound that she heard the two little ones simultaneously let out a long sigh of relief.

"Zizai, go ask Grandma if she has any small, breathable boxes or cages."

Zizai received the order and got up to go find his grandmother.

Even though her brother didn't call her, the little girl followed behind him, wiggling her little bottom as she ran over.

Zhu Qianying watched her two children's backs as they walked away, and smiled with great satisfaction.

The little bird was placed in a small, transparent fish tank on the coffee table. After Zhu Qianying finished doing this, she told Yan Shao to watch the child while she turned on her computer to finish the things she hadn't completed that morning.

Yan Shao sat on the sofa handling matters, while Zizai and Xiaoxiao stayed on the coffee table watching the birds.

As they watched, Zizai suddenly stood up, and Xiaoxiao, the little tagalong, also got up and followed. After a while, Yan Shao saw Zizai and Xiaoxiao each carrying a cup for drinking Kung Fu tea and running out of the kitchen.

Upon closer inspection, Yan Shao burst out laughing.

It turns out that the cup in Zizai's hand contained some water, while the cup in Xiaoxiao's little hand contained some breadcrumbs.

"Sweethearts, do you know that these two cups are your grandparents' most precious treasures?"

These two cups are white jade cups that my dad bought at an auction. They were quite expensive, but that's not the main point. The main point is that these cups were an anniversary gift from my dad to my mom.

The meaning is "a lifetime (cup)".

Zizai was stunned for a moment, "Huh? My darling?"

Grandpa and Grandma always said that they and my sister were their precious darlings, so how come they've become these two cups now?

However, despite having some doubts, Zizai grabbed his sister's hand.

Fearing the two kids would break the cups, Yan Shao quickly closed the laptop and got up to get the two cups.

"Hmm, these two cups are a gift from Grandpa to Grandma, so we can't touch them. Here, let's get Daddy two ordinary ones instead."

The two little guys looked at their father with some doubt, but since Young Master Yan usually treated them very well, even though their faces were full of suspicion, the two little brats still obediently let go and returned the cup to Young Master Yan.

Yan Shao returned to the kitchen, took two ordinary cups, poured water and breadcrumbs into them, and then returned to the living room.

"Daddy, are those two cups really Grandpa and Grandma's precious treasures?"

It seems like Zizai is starting to feel a bit threatened.

Yan Shao tugged at his cheek, "Don't worry, those two cups are nothing compared to you two!"
