Tong Xiaohuai looked up and saw his undisguised dejection. Suddenly, she began to wonder if she had done something wrong.
"It's almost time, shall we go to a restaurant?" She tried her best to soften her tone.
This is actually her way of showing weakness.
Yan Bo looked at her, assuming she was avoiding his apology.
Then, sincerely, he repeated what he had just said.
"I'm sorry, I was abrupt just now!"
Tong Xiaohuai moved his lips as if to say something, but then he heard him say, "I have no experience in pursuing girls. If anything I do makes you unhappy or uncomfortable, please tell me."
Yan Bo spoke very seriously, and Tong Xiaohuai's previous doubts turned into guilt.
She lowered her eyes and looked at the delicate flowers she was holding in her hands.
She and he were practically strangers, yet he treated her with such care and affection. What did she have to complain about?
From the perspective of their relationship, he has no obligation to do these things for her, so why should she argue with him?
With this thought, all the barriers and awkwardness in Tong Xiaohuai's heart vanished.
She grinned at him and said, "It's nothing. I was just being too stingy and awkward. Let's go eat! Eat as much as you want, don't hold back!"
Yan Bo didn't know her temperament very well, after all, the two of them had spent less than ten hours together in total.
Seeing her smiling and talking to him without any reservations, he couldn't help but secretly despise himself for being overly nervous.
She was just a child in his eyes, treating him with an unguarded heart. So he should treat her with the same openness and care.
Although this was not an easy task for him, because he had grown up in an environment full of scheming and deceit, wearing a mask of hypocrisy, only telling three-tenths of the truth to everyone, and judging the situation were basically his instincts.
Of course, he is the kind of person who rarely flatters others, but he also rarely offends anyone.
For him, it was extremely rare for him to lose control and do something out of line like what had just happened.
Yan Bo stood up, smiled at her, and said, "It's not your fault, I was just overthinking it!"
Because they care, they carefully watch their every word and action, afraid that the slightest overstep will scare the other person away.
Tong Xiaohuai wasn't one to hold grudges. After both of them reflected on their actions, they smiled at each other, paid the bill, and got up to leave.
The restaurant is not far from the cafe; walk a few dozen meters along the sidewalk and turn left into the alley.
"Shall we walk over there?" Yan Bo glanced at the man standing in front of the coffee shop.
He had seen this man yesterday; he was Tong Xiaohuai's driver and bodyguard.
Tong Xiaohuai glanced at the driver and nodded, "Okay, let's walk over."
Yan Bo made way for her, letting her walk close to the inside of the sidewalk. After a few steps, he pointed to the building across the street and said to Tong Xiaohuai, "My company is on the 20th and 21st floors across the street. My office is on the 21st floor. If you have time, you can come and visit."
Tong Xiaohuai responded with an "Mmm," holding a large bouquet of flowers in her arms, feeling as if everyone's eyes were constantly following her.
Yan Bo noticed her unease, turned his head to look at her closely for a few moments, and silently reached out to take the flowers from her.
Tong Xiaohuai felt a little more at ease then, and remembering what he had just said, she asked, "Do you have many employees? They must all be young people, right?"
Yan Bo nodded. "Yes, they're all young people in their early twenties who haven't been out of school for long. What, do you want to get to know them?"
Tong Xiaohuai was indeed curious about the personnel structure of a legitimate company. In short, it was definitely different from the Tong family's businesses. Except for the KTV employees, who tended to be younger, the rest were mostly rough men in their thirties and forties.
"No, I was just asking."
As they chatted, they unknowingly turned from the sidewalk on the main road into the alley.
Meanwhile, the two bodyguards who usually followed Tong Xiaohuai stayed at a distance behind.
The meal was equally enjoyable, and the atmosphere was even more harmonious than yesterday. After all, the two had become much more familiar with each other and had a lot more to talk about.
Yan Bo ordered the dishes as usual, because Tong Xiaohuai said that the dishes Yan Bo ordered suited her taste.
This once again proves that Yan Bo is indeed a better foodie than Tong Xiaohuai.
Tong Xiaohuai ate until she was stuffed again, and this time, Yan Bo was prepared. He took a jar out of his bag and handed it to the waiter.
After a while, the waiter brought over a pot of tea, and Yan Bo personally poured a cup for Tong Xiaohuai. "Have some of this, it can help with digestion."
Tong Xiaohuai picked it up and took a sip. It was sweet and sour, and quite delicious.
"What is this? It tastes pretty good."
"Hawthorn tea can stimulate the appetite and aid digestion."
After Yan Bo finished speaking, he picked up the jar and placed it in front of her.
"You can take this home or keep it in your car. Sometimes when you've eaten too much or have indigestion, you can brew it and drink it."
Tong Xiaohuai had become accustomed to his thoughtfulness and attentiveness. She took the jar, unscrewed the lid, and brought it close to her nose to smell it. The pungent sour smell made her involuntarily frown.
"It's quite sour!"
"Yes, you can add some honey to your liking to balance the sourness."
Tong Xiaohuai responded with an "Oh," screwed the lid on the jar, and then put the jar into her large bag.
"Thanks!"
Yan Bo looked at her and said, "Why are you being so polite with me!"
Tong Xiaohua stuck out her tongue at him and made a face.
Yan Bo stared at her as if she were a monster. After a while, he coughed twice, turned his face away, picked up his cup, and took a big gulp of tea.
Tong Xiaohuai discovered that Yan Bo was not always steady and mature; occasionally, he would also show the shyness and restraint that a twenty-year-old should have.
However, compared to other people his age, he does exhibit these characteristics much less frequently.
Yan Bo drank most of his tea and finally regained his composure. He took out paper and pen and began explaining the difficult problem to her. Halfway through his explanation, Tong Xiaohuai got up to answer a phone call. When she returned, her expression was somewhat serious.
Yan Bo glanced at her cautiously. "Is something the matter?"
Tong Xiaohuai shook her head, but then she seemed a little absent-minded.
Yanbo deliberately slowed down the pace considerably, and repeated many parts several times, but she still looked completely bewildered.
Clearly, her mind was no longer on her studies.
"Xiao Huai, do you still have work?"
Tong Xiaohuai paused for a moment, then nodded obediently.
"Yes, I'm going to check out the KTV in the North City later. Uncle Ming is waiting for me there."
