Chapter 855 Insomnia

Finally, Ling Qingyun was the first to react. She apologized to Tong Xiaohuai, grabbed her coat, and hurriedly chased after him.

Tong Xiaohuai sat on the sofa with a glass of wine in his hand, knowing that he had offended someone. He felt depressed and uncomfortable.

However, she also felt that this result was actually quite good!

Tong Xiaohuai slept very restlessly that night, and woke up around four o'clock because of a nightmare.

I thought I could fall asleep again after lying down for a while, since it was so early and I didn't know what to do after getting up.

As a result, she tossed and turned in bed for more than half an hour, still unable to fall asleep. Her stomach was growling with hunger, so she simply got up and went to the kitchen to find something to eat.

Tong Xiaohuai suffered a lot from childhood to adulthood, but that suffering was basically all because of taking on the burden of the Tong family. In terms of living conditions, she had always been very well off.

From a purely material perspective, she lived the life of a pampered young lady, where everything was done for her.

She's done kitchen work countless times, not to mention she's only been in the kitchen a handful of times.

She looked around the kitchen, but surprisingly, she couldn't find anything she could eat directly.

It wasn't that she was stupid, but rather that Uncle Guan always cared a great deal about the health of his family of three. Therefore, there was practically no food in the house. Leftovers were either thrown away or given to the servants. Ingredients were also purchased daily to ensure freshness.

Tong Xiaohuai finally found half a bag of bread in the locker, which she guessed was breakfast for one of the maids for tomorrow morning.

Miss Tong, who doesn't even know how to use a microwave, poured herself a glass of water, grabbed a piece of bread, and walked out of the living room.

The bread wasn't very tasty; it was a bit hard and didn't taste good either.

It's still better than going hungry, isn't it?

Tong Xiaohuai spent more than ten minutes eating half a bag of not-so-delicious bread, drinking a large glass of water, and letting out a satisfied burp before finally going back to her room to sleep.

He slept until after 10 a.m.

When she got up, Uncle Ming was already sitting in the living room. He saw her yawning as she came out, smiled at her, and asked.

"Did you drink too much last night?"

Tong Xiaohuai nodded obediently. After all, Uncle Ming couldn't possibly not know that she had been drinking at her own bar last night.

"I haven't had a drink in a while, and my alcohol tolerance seems to have decreased quite a bit."

Actually, she wasn't drunk last night. After Yan Bo and Ling Qingyun left, she drank the rest of the red wine by herself, that's all.

"Yeah, having a little now and then is fine, it helps relieve stress!"

Uncle Ming didn't blame her at all; his gaze towards her was filled with affection and concern.

"Um……"

Tong Xiaohuai wasn't drunk, but her head was spinning, and she seemed to have no interest in anything.

"Go have breakfast. Everything's settled at the sauna; we're just waiting for your signature."

Since Tong Xiaohuai is the head of the household, Uncle Ming cannot do things like signing autographs for him.

"oh……"

Uncle Ming frowned slightly as he watched her retreating figure.

Tong Xiaohuai walked into the dining room, just as Uncle Guan brought up a bowl of steaming noodles. "Good morning, Uncle Guan!"

Uncle Guan placed the noodles in front of her and looked at her with concern.

"Did you get up last night to look for something to eat?"

Tong Xiaohuai has always had excellent sleep quality, so this is the first time she has ever gotten up in the middle of the night to look for food.

"Yes, Uncle Guan, how did you know?"

"Sister Luo's bread went missing. We thought it was dragged away by a rat, but after checking the security camera footage, we found out it was a beautiful but confused big rat!" Uncle Guan said, feeling both sorry for her and amused.

Tong Xiaohuai couldn't help but laugh. "Uncle Guan, you should keep some food in the fridge from now on. I might have to get up in the middle of the night to find something to eat."

Uncle Guan ruffled her hair and teased her, "You think you can cook now that you have food in the pan?"

Tong Xiaohuai protested indignantly, "Uncle Guan, do you think I'm a three-year-old child? Can't even eat properly?"

Uncle Guan sat down opposite her. "Of course you can eat, but do you know how to cook? Alright, if you're ever really hungry, just wake me up and I'll get you something to eat. Anyway, I'm old, I can't sleep soundly, and I don't sleep much."

Tong Xiaohuai didn't think she would have another chance to get up in the middle of the night to eat something, so she nodded haphazardly.

"Okay, I understand."

However, after that day, she woke up in the middle of the night for several nights in a row and couldn't fall back asleep, and she started going to the kitchen in the middle of the night to find something to eat more frequently. Of course, she wouldn't actually wake Uncle Guan up to make her something; after one or two times, she simply secretly bought some cookies and put them in her room.

As she sat on the floor in front of the terrace, munching on cookies from a jar, she began to ponder.

What's going on lately? She's always slept very well, so why has she been waking up in the middle of the night these past few days?

She didn't tell anyone about her sleep problems, not even Uncle Ming.

But just because she didn't mention it doesn't mean Uncle Ming didn't notice.

"Xiao Huai, have you been working too hard lately? You seem to have lost a lot of weight?"

Not only have I been having trouble sleeping, but my appetite has also been greatly reduced lately.

"No way?" Tong Xiaohuai touched her face, turned around and ran to the gym to weigh herself. Surprisingly, she had actually lost three or four pounds.

Could it be that insomnia is the culprit?

"Great! I've been wanting to lose a few pounds, and I've finally slimmed down!"

Unwilling to deal with Uncle Ming's nagging and questioning, Tong Xiaohuai twisted the story.

Uncle Ming didn't quite believe her. "You? Losing weight?"

He watched her grow from a little girl with two pigtails into a graceful young woman, and he had never heard her mention any requirements regarding her appearance.

At first, he simply thought it was confidence. After all, she was not only beautiful but also had a tall and well-proportioned figure, practically flawless. In his opinion, all those minor celebrities and supermodels would pale in comparison to his girl.

But later he realized that she didn't care much about her appearance; it was simply that she was unkempt.

Judging from her clothes and outfit, you would never guess that she was a rich girl.

So when she said she wanted to lose weight, Uncle Ming really didn't believe her.

"Yeah, isn't the skinny look trendy these days? I want to try it!"

After Tong Xiaohuai finished speaking, she took the document that Uncle Ming had just handed her, glanced at it quickly, and then pushed the document back to Uncle Ming.

"Uncle Ming, Li Lin's plan won't work. Have him redo it."

Uncle Ming's attention was quickly drawn back. He took the document, glanced at it, and frowned.

"Okay, I'll take it back to him."

With that, he got up and walked out.

As soon as Uncle Ming left, Tong Xiaohuai's energetic appearance vanished completely. She rested her head in her hands and gently rubbed her throbbing temples.

If this continues, she'll probably break down.

As Tong Xiaohuai thought this, a bitter smile appeared on her face.

It seems that it still won't work!
