"Have you all eaten?"
Tong Xiaohuai opened the bag, and almost stuck her head inside.
"We've only just started eating, what did you pack up? It smells so good!"
Yan Bo touched her face. "Sweetie, take it inside for Uncle Tong and Aunt Tong first, it won't taste good if it gets cold."
Tong Xiaohuai then ran back to the dining room with the bag in her hand. "Dad, Mom, Yanbo brought you some breakfast. Eat it while it's hot."
Tong's mother took the bag and looked at it. "Mingxuan Restaurant? I love their steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce. Do you have them?"
Tong Xiaohuai also leaned closer, "I love shrimp dumplings and fried milk."
So, Yanbo, who followed in, saw the mother and daughter watching eagerly as Tong Laoda took boxes out of the bag one by one and then opened them impatiently.
"Good morning, Uncle Tong and Aunt Tong!"
"Xiao Yan, please sit down. I'm so sorry to trouble you to bring me snacks so early in the morning."
Yan Bo smiled and sat down next to Tong Xiaohuai, glanced at Tong Xiaohuai, and said.
"It wasn't a special trip. This client really likes morning tea today, so I just went along with it. It's at Mingxuan Restaurant not far from here. I figured you guys should be up by now, so I just packed a few portions and brought them over. I don't know if they'll suit your tastes."
Tong Xiaohuai had already opened a box of chicken feet and a box of shrimp dumplings. "Perfect match! They're all our favorite foods!"
As he spoke, he sat down, picked up a shrimp dumpling with his chopsticks, and stuffed it into his mouth.
Seeing that his wife and daughter had been so easily won over by a basket of chicken feet and shrimp dumplings, Boss Tong took out the last snack from the bag and said casually.
"I thought you northerners wouldn't like these things. Did Xiao Huai tell you something, so you tried them?"
Tong Xiaohuai quickly denied it, "Dad, I didn't! Don't underestimate Yanbo just because he's not a local. He knows a lot about food! If you want to know where to eat, just ask him."
Whenever they ate out, it was usually at places recommended by Yan Bo. Over time, this gave Tong Xiaohuai the illusion that Yan Bo was a more authentic local than she was.
Having tried his best to pursue someone, Tong Laoda naturally understood how much effort Yan Bo had put into winning over his daughter.
Now, he looked Yan Bo up and down with a probing gaze. "Oh? So, you're an expert on L City?"
Yan Bo laughed and replied, "Uncle Tong, don't listen to Xiao Huai's nonsense. She's probably afraid of hurting my feelings, so she always says that the food suits her taste. However, I heard that this Mingxuan Restaurant is a century-old brand, and its dim sum and dishes are very authentic and delicious. I only went there for the first time today and tried it. It is indeed well-deserved."
While Tong's mother was still unpacking boxes, Tong Laoda was about to say something to Yanbo when a box was handed to him.
"Hey, do you want some of your favorite steamed buns and rice flour dumplings? Or do you want to chat with Xiao Yan some more?"
Tong Laoda unconsciously sniffed, surrendering to the allure of the delicious food.
"I'll eat..."
At this moment, Uncle Yuan brought over a set of bowls and chopsticks and a steaming cup of tea. "Third Young Master, this is the tea you said was delicious last time. I brewed you a cup."
Tong Laoda glared at Uncle Yuan with a hint of resentment, but Uncle Yuan pretended not to see it and quickly turned and disappeared.
Yan Bo picked up his tea and took a sip. "Uncle Tong and Aunt Tong, please enjoy your meal. I'm already full. I'll book a private room another day when you're free. The food should taste even better if we eat there."
Yan Bo had long heard that the food at Mingxuan Restaurant was famous for its deliciousness, but today was the first time he had ever tried it.
Seeing the Tong family of three enjoying their meal so much, he was quite satisfied even though he hadn't eaten with them.
"Okay, let's find a time when you and Xiaohuai are resting. Your Uncle Tong and I are both free now, and we're always available."
Aunt Tong had almost finished the steamed chicken feet by herself, and looking at Tong Xiaohuai and Tong Laoda, they were in much the same situation as Aunt Tong.
Tong Xiaohuai finished the whole plate of shrimp dumplings before realizing that today was a weekday and it should be working hours. Didn't Yanbo have to work today?
"You have the day off today?"
Tong Xiaohuai was still munching on something when she tilted her head and looked at Yan Bo, asking a question.
"I was only scheduled to accompany the client this morning. Once the deal was settled and the client left, I was free."
Yanbo is not a robot who only knows how to work. He used to work overtime because he didn't have anyone to accompany him. Now that he has someone he wants to accompany, he naturally puts people first and work second.
"Then why don't you stay home for lunch? I'll ask Brother Yuan to prepare it early," Aunt Tong asked, casting a questioning glance at him.
Besides wanting to please his future in-laws, Yan Bo also wanted to spend more time with Tong Xiaohuai, so he nodded in agreement without hesitation, "Okay, then I won't be polite, thank you Aunt Tong."
"Don't be so polite. Didn't I tell you? Just make yourself at home. Whenever you want to come over for a meal, just give Brother Yuan a call."
Aunt Tong treated Yanbo like a son-in-law, even like her own son, which displeased Boss Tong. "Wife..."
Aunt Tong glanced at him and said, "Alright, let's set off again tomorrow."
Tong Xiaohuai suddenly looked up, eyeing her parents warily. "Where are you going again? Are you going on another trip abroad?"
Tong Xiaohuai never thought she was clingy to her parents before, but lately, she feels like she wants to stay by their side.
Aunt Tong gave her a reassuring look. "No, it's a friend of your dad's who runs a resort in the southern suburbs. I heard the scenery and environment are quite nice, and your dad and I are planning to go check it out."
Tong Xiaohuai was relieved. "Then let's wait until Saturday, and I'll go with you."
Yan Bo looked at Tong Xiaohuai and chimed in, "Uncle Tong and Aunt Tong, how about we postpone it to Saturday? Xiaohuai and I will stay with you for two days."
Aunt Tong looked at Tong Laoda, then at her daughter and Yanbo. Before Tong Laoda could respond, she agreed, "Then let's go take a look together on Saturday. I heard there are facilities like tennis courts and bowling alleys there. You two can go and have some fun."
And so, Saturday's itinerary was set.
After breakfast, Tong Laoda accompanied Tong's aunt for a walk, and Yanbo took out several CDs from his bag and handed them to Tong Xiaohuai.
"These are some albums by the Grey Leopard band, let me give you a listen."
Tong Xiaohuai took the album. "You didn't come all this way just to give me this, did you?"
Tong Xiaohuai is sometimes slow to realize things. Before, she never doubted Yan Bo's claim that he was having morning tea with clients in the vicinity. Only now, after seeing these CDs, has she come to her senses.
Yan Bo smiled but didn't answer her question. Instead, he asked, "Is there a CD player in the living room? Would you like to listen to one now?"
