Chapter 966: I Will Always Be With You

Of the gifts Tong Xiaohuai brought, aside from the pastries and the cheongsam for Yan's mother, which were given away, the rest were still safely stored in the locker.

When Yan Bo led Tong Xiaohuai past, he first picked up the coat and scarf that were placed on top and put them on Tong Xiaohuai. He then put on his own coat and picked up the gifts that he hadn't been able to give her.

Tong Xiaohuai still looked somewhat bewildered, as if she hadn't yet accepted this sudden change.

Yan Bo smiled at her, looking completely indifferent.

"These gifts you bought weren't cheap, so we can't just give them away and let them go to waste. Come on, I'll take you to eat something delicious."

Leading her out of the main house, they both stood in the corridor, and Yanbo took a deep breath.

"Xiao Huai, I'm sorry, I've made you suffer!"

Having finally regained some composure, Tong Xiaohuai met his gaze and gently shook her head. "If you really look into this matter closely, it's hard to say who implicated whom."

Tong Xiaohuai knew that even if he were just a child from an ordinary family, his treatment today would probably be completely different.

But she was born into the Tong family, a family that seemed incompatible with the Yan family, an official and aristocratic family.

The two stared at each other for several seconds, and finally, they both smiled.

They seemed to understand each other's meaning, and holding hands, they walked out of the Yan family home slowly and calmly.

The area where the Yan family lives is surrounded by many nationally renowned restaurants. Yan Bo brought Tong Xiaohuai to this one, and Tong Xiaohuai had already heard of it.

However, although the two of them had smiles on their faces, they clearly didn't have much of an appetite. After sitting down, they ordered some food casually and stopped eating after eating only half of it.

After paying the bill, Yanbo packed up the rest and took them back to the hotel, thinking he could have them as a midnight snack if he got hungry in the middle of the night.

Back in their hotel suites, everyone went to their respective rooms to take a shower.

Although everyone was dressed warmly, the temperature in Beijing was really low. After walking around outside for a long time, even Yan Bo, a local who had lived in Beijing for more than ten or twenty years, felt extremely cold.

The day was incredibly dramatic, and even as she entered her room, Tong Xiaohuai still felt a sense of unreality, as if she were in a dream.

At this moment, she desperately needed a way to drive away and chase away the restlessness and turmoil in her heart.

Fortunately, the hotel is well-equipped; each room not only has a bathroom but also a sauna.

She changed into a bathrobe, walked barefoot into the sauna, adjusted the temperature and time, sat down on the tatami mat, leaned against the wall, and closed her eyes.

The temperature inside the room gradually rose, and the stuffy feeling seeped into my bones little by little from the surface of my skin.

But the vexing thoughts and ideas in her mind seemed to evaporate little by little.

Gradually, her mind began to feel foggy and confused; it seemed she couldn't remember anything at all...

With a "beep," the timer indicated that the set time had ended, and Tong Xiaohuai stood up, feeling sticky all over.

After working up a good sweat, not only did my body feel lighter, but I also felt much more relaxed!

Why is your face so red?

After Tong Xiaohuai finished showering and came out of the living room, Yan Bo, who was sitting cross-legged on the sofa looking at something, stared intently at her face.

Tong Xiaohuai touched her still slightly hot face and laughed, "I steamed in the sauna for half an hour, why didn't you steam for a while? You feel much better after steaming!"

Yanbo was worried that she might be secretly crying inside, since she hadn't come out even after taking a shower for almost an hour.

Seeing her smile brightly, her eyes sparkling, and her usual energy and spirit restored, I finally felt a little relieved.

"Is it really that effective? I'll steam it later."

Yan Bo patted the sofa next to him, gesturing for Tong Xiaohuai to sit down.

Tong Xiaohuai sat down next to him without any hesitation, leaned over, and glanced at the documents in his hands.

The document was covered with densely packed numbers.

Tong Xiaohuai has been checking and verifying the accounts of the money shop lately. Whenever he sees numbers, he feels a throbbing pain in his forehead as a conditioned reflex.

"Shall we check the accounts?"

She had no intention of spying on his company's secrets. After glancing at him, she put her arm around him and looked away.

Yan Bo didn't seem to be avoiding her. "Yes, it's a raw material cost accounting sheet for a project."

Tong Xiaohuai said "Oh," rested her head on his shoulder, and whispered, "Then you keep watching, I'll just sit here leaning against you for a while."

Yan Bo tilted his head and kissed her on the cheek. "Okay, I'll spend time with you after I finish looking at this form."

Tong Xiaohuai didn't say anything more, closed his eyes, and could hear his rhythmic breathing from time to time, and occasionally, the rustling sound of him turning over papers.

Tong Xiaohuai's heart, which had been adrift for most of the day, inexplicably calmed down amidst these subtle sounds.

Perhaps, the so-called companionship doesn't necessarily involve grand gestures like going through fire and water.

Like this, one person is looking at documents, while another quietly nestles against him, comfortably taking a nap against his body heat.

In this way, it is also a good form of companionship.

In life, there are highs and lows. We can accompany each other through the exciting adventures and the quiet moments as time slips by. Only in this way can we be considered to have a lasting companionship.

"Yanbo..."

Tong Xiaohuai kept her eyes closed, and her soft call sounded just like a murmur in her sleep.

Yan Bo felt a slight warmth brush past his ear, and he couldn't help but tremble slightly.

"Um?"

Looking up, I saw the person leaning against my shoulder with their eyes closed. I assumed it was just a murmur in their sleep, so I gently patted their head and then looked down at the accounting sheet I hadn't finished reading.

"I will always be with you, even though your aunt and uncle will never agree..."

Tong Xiaohuai's voice was still very low, but every word was clear; it was impossible for him to be talking in his sleep.

Yan Bo suddenly raised his head, his piercing gaze falling on her pretty face.

"Xiao Huai..." For a moment, he was so moved that he didn't know what to say.

"If my uncle feels that my family background will affect them, then we should never get married. That way, it probably won't affect them, right?"

Tong Xiaohuai's words were not the result of careful consideration, but rather came out suddenly just now.

Even without marriage, and without the security of marriage, she believed that a man like Yanbo would allow her to live a happy life.

Yan Bo was both moved and ashamed. He moved the documents aside, reached out and put his arm around her waist, picked her up from the sofa and carried her to sit on his lap, so that they were facing each other.

Tong Xiaohuai naturally reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck. He cupped her face in his hands, his dark eyes fixed on her. "Silly girl, how can you be so silly?"
