Yan Bo hugged her tighter, kissed her ear, and then readily let go, supporting her waist as she stood up against his chest.
Tong Xiaohuai's face turned as red as a steamed crab. Without even glancing at him, she hurriedly ran towards the bathroom.
Yan Bo heard the "bang" of the bathroom door closing, glanced down, and smiled bitterly to himself.
Shouldn't I be the one going to the restroom?
Yan Bo lay on the cold floor for a while longer, but the fever in his body showed no signs of subsiding.
Having no other choice, he had to push himself up from the floor and walk toward the bedroom.
The cold water tap in the bathroom was running, and Tong Xiaohuai splashed several buckets of cold water on her face until the burning sensation subsided a bit. She stood up, stared blankly at her flustered reflection in the mirror, and then slowly walked out and sat down on the sofa.
Yan Bo finally resolved his own problem, pushed open the door, and immediately saw Tong Xiaohuai with water all over her head and face, water droplets dripping down her back. She was sitting blankly on the sofa, seemingly lost in thought.
When Yan Bo saw her distraught appearance, his heart skipped a beat. He went back to the bedroom, grabbed a clean towel, and draped it over her head.
"Silly girl, what's wrong with you?" He gently wiped the water droplets from her face and then rubbed her wet hair.
I guess I'm the one who scared her.
"I'm sorry..." Yan Bo gently cupped her face and kissed her cool lips.
Tong Xiaohuai's somewhat bewildered gaze fell on his face. As she looked at him, she couldn't help but recall the strange sensation she had felt when she was lying on him earlier. Her face, which she had finally managed to cool down with cold water, suddenly felt hot again.
Yan Bo shook his head helplessly, afraid of frightening her again, and quickly straightened up, increasing the distance between himself and her.
"Fool... that was just an instinctive reaction, I wouldn't really do anything to you!"
He couldn't suppress his body's instinctive reactions, but his reason still allowed him to control his actions.
Tong Xiaohuai bit her lip and stared at him, her big, clear black eyes seeming to see right through Yan Bo.
Yanbo didn't try to defend himself anymore. He touched her hair, which felt a bit drier, and then picked up a towel and threw it into the laundry basket in the bathroom.
Have you had breakfast?
Judging from the time, she must have gotten up very early and rushed over to him, probably without having had breakfast yet.
Sure enough, Tong Xiaohuai shook his head.
Yan Bo walked straight towards the kitchen, saying, "You walk for a bit, I'll see what you've made."
Yan Bo said this because he was not good at cooking, and his residence never even had instant noodles. So, he could only check if Aunt Mo Xin had any frozen dumplings or similar food in the refrigerator.
Inside the freezer compartment of the refrigerator, there was indeed a bag of frozen dumplings, filled with chicken and mushroom filling that he and Tong Xiaohuai both loved.
He picked up the frozen dumplings, carefully read the instructions, filled a pot halfway with water, and turned on the stove to boil the water.
Tong Xiaohuai sat outside for an unknown amount of time before finally coming to her senses. Hearing soft clattering sounds coming from the kitchen, she got up and went over.
Yanbo, who was in the kitchen, lifted the pot lid and saw that the water was boiling. He cut open the dumpling packaging and was about to put the dumplings into the boiling water when he heard footsteps. He turned his head slightly and smiled at her.
"There are only frozen dumplings in the freezer, is that okay?"
Tong Xiaohuai gently shook her head, "It's okay, I'm fine with anything..."
As she spoke, she walked over to him and peered over to watch Yan Bo put dumplings into the pot in twos and threes.
"Is this what you usually eat for breakfast?" Tong Xiaohuai asked curiously, looking at the pot and trying to make conversation.
After all, the situation just now was actually quite awkward.
Of course, someone with more experience might easily know how to resolve such an awkward situation. But Tong Xiaohuai, unfortunately, had absolutely no experience in matters of love and sex.
Therefore, she could only let herself run away, blushing furiously.
He just called her stupid and said he wouldn't do anything to her.
Actually, she believed him!
Because she trusted him, she immediately thought of her huge sum of money that she had never used before when she learned that his company was in trouble.
According to my father, that huge sum of money was meant to be used to save lives in times of crisis.
In her view, Yanbo's current situation was almost like being saved.
Yan Bo glanced down at her curious expression and felt an irresistible itch to do so.
He really wanted to lean in and give her a good kiss, but remembering how scared she had looked earlier, he didn't dare to act rashly.
He forcibly suppressed the restlessness in his heart, "No, my usual breakfast is brought back for me by Di Xu or Miss Guo. These frozen dumplings were bought by Aunt Xin for me as a late-night snack."
Tong Xiaohuai said "Oh," and watched as the dumplings in the pot remained submerged in the water for a long time.
"Don't you need to stir it? Won't it stick to the pan?"
Like Tong Xiaohuai, Yan Bo knew nothing about kitchen matters. He looked at the pot and then at the instructions on the packaging bag, saying uncertainly, "I don't think we need to, it doesn't say that here."
Tong Xiaohuai turned her gaze to his face, looked at it carefully for a while, and suddenly burst out laughing.
Yan Bo was baffled by her laughter and instinctively raised his hand to touch his face.
"What are you laughing at? Is my face dirty?"
Tong Xiaohuai shook her head, "No..."
"What is that?"
Tong Xiaohuai glanced at the dumplings in the pot, a slight smile creeping onto her lips. "You know, we're both like idiots as soon as we step into the kitchen. If we live together, won't we starve to death?"
Yan Bo looked deep in thought for a while before smiling and asking her.
"Maybe it really is true. Are you willing to starve with me? Or even starve to death together?"
Tong Xiaohuai glared at him, snorted, and turned to leave.
Yan Bo watched as the dumplings in the pot floated to the surface one by one in the boiling water. Just as he was about to call Tong Xiaohuai back to check, he heard her say outside, "If you're really so poor that you can't even afford a nanny, I'll take care of you!"
Yanbo imagined that when she said those words, her face must be flushed and her heart must be filled with sweetness. He took out the couple's bowls he had bought last time from the kitchen cabinet, put the dumplings into the bowls, and carried them to the dining room on a tray.
Tong Xiaohuai followed him in, plopped down on the floor like a pampered young lady waiting to be served, and looked down at Yan Bo as he brought the dumplings to her.
"Where's the vinegar? Where's the chili sauce?"
She deliberately put on an arrogant look, but Yan Bo wasn't angry. He indulgently kissed her on the cheek and said, "I'll go get it for you!"
Tong Xiaohuai sat contentedly in the dining room and took a sip of soup before hearing Yan Bo call out from the kitchen.
