Grandpa Yan replied again, but it was still the same three words: "Depends on my mood!"
Zhu Qianying really wanted to rush out and kick the door next door a few times, but her body remained lazily lying on the bed, her fingers tapping away as she typed a line of text: "I'll get fired!"
This time, the reply was quick again, and at least the reply wasn't those three words.
"It's okay, your husband will take care of you!"
This reply, however, made Zhu Qianying even more furious than "it depends on my mood."
After reading the text message that could make her want to vomit blood and die, Zhu Qianying silenced her phone and threw it on the bedside table, determined not to have any further dealings with him.
She simply couldn't believe that he could really follow her around every day.
The next morning, Zhu Qianying was woken up by her alarm clock. After getting up, washing up, and changing her clothes, she came out to find Young Master Yan sitting on the sofa, dressed neatly, just like yesterday, holding a cup of tea in one hand and a magazine in the other.
Hearing the door open, Yan Han looked up. "Good morning! Breakfast is in the food cart. See what you'd like to eat! Order more if you're still hungry!"
Yan Han remembered it clearly; her appetite was astonishing.
Zhu Qianying had originally planned to buy some bread or something along the way, but now that she heard he had prepared it, she didn't stand on ceremony. She put her bag on the sofa, turned around, and saw Yan Han pushing a cup of hot milk in front of her.
"Thank you!" Zhu Qianying picked up the milk and drank half a glass in one gulp, then took out the breakfast from the food cart, and asked him while munching on a piece of bread, "Where are you going later?"
"To keep you company!" It seemed that Grandpa Yan's purpose in coming here this time was simply to keep her company.
"Young Master Yan, I've lived here for five years. I know this place much better than you do. I don't need you to accompany me!"
Zhu Qianying was having a headache dealing with the extreme heat and cold.
“Living here for five years doesn’t mean you can protect yourself.” Yan Han’s focus was clearly different from Zhu Qianying’s.
Zhu Qianying paused, tilted her head, and looked at him seriously. "Yan Han, do you know something?"
Yan Han calmly raised his eyelids to meet her eyes, "What do you think I should know?"
Zhu Qianying vaguely sensed the anger emanating from Yan Han, which was somewhat inexplicable.
In her view, she had no connection with Young Master Yan since she left five years ago, so she had no obligation to tell him about her situation.
And he, of course, had no obligation to protect her safety.
"Young Master Yan, those are my own business." At this point, Zhu Qianying vaguely understood Yan Han's purpose in coming to the United States.
If she wasn't mistaken, he already knew the whole story of how she was bullied by thugs, driven to desperation, and finally had no choice but to send Zizai back to him.
He came here not on official business, nor for tourism, but simply to be with her.
But she and he were only husband and wife in name only; there was no need to go this far.
"Young Master Yan, you don't need to do so much for me!"
If he is repaying her in this way because she sent his son back to him, then there is no need for that!
"Ying'er, do you even understand? I'm worried about you!"
To be honest, he was actually a little angry. She had encountered such a thing here, which was even life-threatening, yet she never thought of asking him for help.
Admittedly, it was a good thing that she eventually sent her son back to him for protection.
But can she disregard her own safety as long as she has her son?
Did she think that he, Yan Han, would only care about his son's safety, and that he would choose to stand idly by when it came to her?
"Thanks!"
Zhu Qianying didn't know how to respond to his concern. A man who had ignored her five years ago because of another woman was now turning around and saying he was worried about her!
She genuinely didn't know what else to say besides thank you.
Her thank you was sincere, but Yan Han clearly saw a fleeting emotion, perhaps sadness or grief, in her eyes.
That fleeting emotion, like a sharp blade, sliced through Yanhan's heart with a "sizzle".
Suddenly, a sharp, piercing pain shot through my chest.
"Ying'er, I'm really worried about you!"
Yan Han expressed his feelings anxiously, hoping she would understand that besides his son, he also desperately wanted to protect her.
Zhu Qianying heard what he said, but her assessment of it was: its credibility is zero.
"Yes, I know! But I'm fine! Don't worry!"
Zhu Qianying stopped looking at him, focused intently on eating her bread, and her response was completely perfunctory.
Yan Han sighed silently. In the end, he simply escorted her to the entrance of the jewelry store and did not follow her shamelessly like he had yesterday.
Because he understood that following her was pointless.
As for protecting her safety, he doesn't need to be by her side all the time.
Just a few minutes after Zhu Qianying returned to her office, Cheng Ye, who lived next door, received a phone call from an unknown number.
"Mr. Cheng, I am Yan Han!"
Cheng Ye thought he was calling to provoke him again, so he immediately braced himself and prepared to fight back. Unexpectedly, he heard the other party say, "Try not to let Ying'er go out alone these next few days. Thank you for your help."
It's strange that the man who was so arrogant yesterday is now begging me with such a humble attitude!
However, right now, Zhu Qianying's safety is more important than anything else. Pointless shouting and demonstrations cannot serve as a shield to protect Zhu Qianying.
Cheng Ye also understood that Yan Han's connections and methods here were definitely much stronger than his own.
"Okay, I will arrange her schedule."
After Yan Han finished his phone call with Cheng Ye, he met with Mai Gao.
At this critical juncture, he had no time to consider Zhu Qianying's feelings; the most important thing was to find out the person Mai Gao had mentioned.
The news that Yan Han received from McGonagall, however, took him by surprise.
“Yan, I have enough evidence to show that the jewelry store owner who instigated the thugs to cause trouble for Mrs. Yan had dealings with a man surnamed Zhu before this.”
"Surname Zhu?" Yan Han thought he had misheard. He had almost forgotten that Zhu Qianying was the fifth young lady of the Zhu family in L City.
McGonagall nodded. "That's right!"
"Zhu Junzhao?" Yan Han's first thought was Zhu Qianying's older brother, Zhu Junzhao!
McGonagall thought for a moment, probably trying to figure out the difference between the name Yan Han mentioned and the one he had given. Finally, he shook his head and said...
"No, it's not Zhu Junzhao, it's Zhu Junwei!"
Zhu Junwei? Zhu Junwei, the current CEO and Chairman of Mingxuan Group?
Yan Han's mind was still racing when he heard Mai Gao ask, "What is this person's relationship with Mrs. Yan?"
"Yes, it's her third brother!"
