Ignoring the shouts outside, Tong Xiaohuai screamed at an extremely high decibel level for several seconds.
The shouting outside stopped after she had been shouting for about ten or twenty seconds.
The entire Tong family home was as quiet as stagnant water, except for Tong Xiaohuai's screams.
Tong Xiaohuai felt she was about to die, so she stopped making a sound, turned over, buried her face in the pillow, and her shoulders, which were even thinner from her illness, trembled violently.
The air in the bedroom seemed to suddenly freeze.
Tong Xiaohuai felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave, her whole body was extremely cold.
The bone-chilling cold made her shiver uncontrollably, and with each increasingly fierce wave of cold air, Tong Xiaohuai's consciousness gradually blurred...
When she woke up, she found the lights on in the room. She looked around groggily, and the scenery in front of her was completely unfamiliar.
She vaguely sensed a familiar, reassuring scent.
"Yanbo..." With her vision blurred and her mind a little hazy, she mumbled the name of the person she most wanted to see and the person she most wanted to rely on at that moment.
The sound of heavy footsteps rang out, followed by a deep and familiar voice that suddenly sounded in her ear.
"Sweetie, I'm here!"
No sooner had she finished speaking than a warm, large hand pressed against Tong Xiaohuai's face.
Tong Xiaohuai's consciousness was still confused. She didn't know where she was or why she was in this unfamiliar place. Similarly, she couldn't remember what she had experienced before.
She subconsciously raised her hand and pressed that large hand tightly against her face, then greedily rubbed her face against that large, slightly rough but very warm hand.
A dark shadow loomed over her, and warm lips landed on her parched lips.
"Xiao Huai, I'm sorry for making you worry."
The man's words seemed to possess an immense magical power, instantly unlocking the seal on her memories.
Suddenly, memories of what happened before she lost consciousness flooded her mind. She opened her eyes and looked intently at the person in front of her.
That's right, this person is Yan Bo, who has been out of contact for a week!
“Baby, I’m sorry…” Yan Bo buried his face in her ear, still murmuring his apology.
Tong Xiaohuai stared at him for a long time without blinking, then suddenly closed her eyes.
God! Is this a dream?
Let me stay in this dream forever and never wake up!
Tong Xiaohuai kept her eyes tightly closed, her long eyelashes trembling, and two crystal-clear tears quietly rolled down from the corners of her eyes.
Yan Bo, who was leaning on the hospital bed with his hands and bowing his head to admit his mistake, finally sensed something was wrong. He looked up and saw her heartbroken appearance with her eyes tightly closed. His heart felt like it was being violently torn apart by a chainsaw, and the pain was so intense that he almost suffocated!
"Xiao Huai..."
He reached out, his hand trembling slightly, and pressed it against her face again.
He leaned in and gently licked away the tears that had welled up in the corners of her eyes.
The salty and astringent taste immediately invaded his taste buds, and the bitterness instantly filled his heart.
Yan Bo thought that Tong Xiaohuai hated him to the core, so she refused to open her eyes to him. So he pleaded softly.
"Xiao Huai, open your eyes and look at me..."
"Xiao Huai..." Yan Bo murmured again, and very carefully kissed her eyelids.
"Look at me... is it okay?"
Yan Bo coaxed Tong Xiaohuai in a low voice for a while, and Tong Xiaohuai finally opened her eyes.
Her eyes were veiled in a thin mist.
She gazed intently and focused at the person before her, seemingly oblivious to the fog.
From his eyebrows to his eyes, then to his nose and lips...
Indeed, those familiar curved lines outline the person she had been longing for for many days.
"Is it really...you?" she asked uncertainly, her voice choked with emotion, trembling like a brittle branch weighed down by snow.
Yan Bo's heart was breaking, but he nodded and replied, "Xiao Huai, it really is me!"
Tong Xiaohuai looked him over again from left to right, and then stared at him intently.
"Who are you?"
She was no longer sure; she was afraid that she might be hallucinating because she missed him so much.
"I'm your boyfriend, Yan Bo!" Yan Bo's eyes were slightly red as he met her scrutinizing gaze.
Tong Xiaohuai asked again, "Are you really Yan Bo?"
Yan Bo nodded. "Yes, I really am Yan Bo!"
With a sharp "smack," a crisp sound of a slap rang out.
Yan Bo was stunned for a moment. It wasn't until he felt a burning pain on his left cheek that he realized that Tong Xiaohuai had just slapped him hard across the face!
Despite being slapped, Yan Bo wasn't angry. Instead, he looked into Tong Xiaohuai's eyes and whispered an apology.
"Xiao Huai, I'm sorry!"
"Smack!"
Another one.
Again, hit the left cheek!
Yan Bo didn't yell or get angry; he simply reached out and gently touched her face.
"Go ahead and hit me, hit me until you feel better..." he coaxed her softly.
Tong Xiaohuai's hands were clenched tightly on the quilt as she stared at him, tears welling up in her eyes. Her lips trembled as she tried to say something or curse him.
In the end, she didn't say or curse anything, but instead burst into loud sobs.
Yan Bo was so overwhelmed by her tears that he almost couldn't breathe. He frantically wiped the tears from her face, leaned down, put his arm around her trembling shoulders, and pulled her tightly into his arms.
"Baby, I'm so sorry..."
"sorry……"
Tong Xiaohuai cried loudly in his arms, her tears flowing like a burst dam, quickly soaking the front of his clothes.
Yan Bo sat on the bed with his bottom tilted to one side, gently picked her up, and let her lean against him so she could cry her heart out.
Yanbo kept muttering various comforting words, but the one he said most often was, "Baby, I'm sorry."
Tong Xiaohuai felt that she had never cried so unrestrainedly since she was old enough to understand things.
She clutched his shirt tightly and burst into tears without restraint.
She wanted to cry out all the frustration and grievances she had been holding in these past few days.
Yanbo, clearly understanding her suffering these past few days, gently comforted her by stroking her back.
His cheeks were badly swollen from the two slaps Tong Xiaohuai had given him, but he was completely unaware of it.
The girl buried in his arms cried for several minutes, then her sobs gradually subsided, and slowly, only her soft sobs and the slight trembling of her shoulders could be heard.
Yanbo placed his hand over her head and rubbed it.
Are you feeling any better?
The person who was still sobbing suddenly raised her head and glared at him fiercely with her red and swollen eyes.
"Yanbo, if you dare scare me like that again, I'm leaving you!"
Her voice still carried a sob, and therefore, it was completely devoid of any threat.
But Yanbo nodded very seriously and then made a sincere promise.
"Okay, I understand! I'll change, please don't leave me!"
