While carefully sorting out her suddenly chaotic thoughts and racing heartbeat, Zhu Qianying glanced at the screen and casually said without thinking, "How about we try it tonight?"
Yan Shao tilted his head and looked at her for a few seconds, then straightened up, pressed his hand heavily on the top of her head, and rubbed it hard. "Fine, let's eat out tonight!"
Zhu Qianying shrank her neck and said "Oh". Her thoughts and heartbeat gradually returned to normal as he moved away.
"If you want anything to drink or eat, you can call Qin Xiu."
Yan Shao tossed out a single sentence and walked out.
Even though Young Master Yan said that, Zhu Qianying never considered calling Qin Xiu. After all, she wasn't Young Master Yan; she didn't have the habit of ordering others around, nor did she have the habit of having others serve her.
She sat in the reception room for a while, but gradually got bored, so she got up and went outside.
While Yan Shao was still engrossed in something, Zhu Qianying said, "Yan Shao, I'm going to take a look at that shopping mall nearby. Is there anything you need? I'll bring it back for you later."
Young Master Yan didn't look up. "No!"
Once the man got into work mode, he reverted to his cold demeanor.
This shopping mall has five floors. The first floor is a variety of food stalls, the second floor is a men's goods section, the third floor is a women's goods section, the fourth floor is a maternity and baby products section, and the fifth floor and the open-air rooftop are children's play facilities.
Zhu Qianying wandered aimlessly from the first floor to the top floor. Bored, she leaned against a pillar and watched the parents chasing their little monkeys all over the place.
The children's silvery laughter was occasionally punctuated by shouts and scoldings from their parents.
Most of the parents had beads of sweat on their foreheads, and they looked quite tired, but without exception, their faces were filled with happy and satisfied smiles.
Zhu Qianying stood quietly with her hands in her coat pockets, watching. This seemingly ordinary and mundane happiness was an unparalleled luxury for her.
Her mother had never accompanied her and her sister to amusement parks like this, and her father was even less likely to. She even suspected that her father probably often forgot that she and Xiaoyu, his two daughters, existed.
A little boy suddenly ran over and tripped and fell at Zhu Qianying's feet without warning. She bent down and helped him up. The boy grinned at her and said, "Thank you, sister!"
Zhu Qianying smiled at him and patted his little bottom, saying, "Don't be so polite!"
The boy ran off with a grin, stopping next to a man wearing glasses. He tugged at the man's hand, and the man looked in the direction the boy was pointing.
Zhu Qianying guessed that the little boy had told the man what had just happened, so she nodded politely to the man.
The man bent down, picked up the boy, and strode over.
"Miss, thank you for earlier!" The man looked to be in his early thirties, with a refined and polite demeanor, and his tone was also very courteous and gentle.
Zhu Qianying smiled and shook her head, "It's nothing, no need to be so polite."
As he spoke, he reached out and pinched the little guy's chubby hand that was reaching out. The little guy had thick eyebrows and big eyes, and a chubby face, which didn't look much like his father.
After thanking him, the man carried the little boy toward the trampoline. Zhu Qianying lingered for a while, and seeing that it was almost time, she went downstairs to buy some tea and snacks to take back to Young Master Yan for afternoon tea.
Fearing that Qin Xiu would prepare afternoon tea for Young Master Yan, Zhu Qianying sent Qin Xiu a message in advance. She brought the tea and snacks back to Young Master Yan's office, but the office was empty. It seemed that he had gone to a meeting.
Zhu Qianying didn't think much of it and carried the tea and snacks into the reception room.
She had been to this office several times, but she never had the desire to gossip about other places. She didn't even glance at Young Master Yan's desk and went straight into the reception room.
Looking at the time, there were still ten minutes before Yan Shao's afternoon tea time. Zhu Qianying took out a book from her backpack and casually flipped through it.
"Don't tell me he's a long-time customer. Even if he's the King of Heaven himself, if he doesn't meet our requirements, he'll be fired! There are no special privileges!"
Yan Shao's cold voice, accompanied by approaching footsteps, reached Zhu Qianying's ears. Turning around, she saw Yan Shao and Qin Xiu standing by the desk.
It seems that the disagreement with Qin Xiu stemmed from work-related matters.
"Master..." Qin Xiu wanted to persuade him further, but Young Master Yan waved his hand impatiently and said, "Alright, just do as I say, stop whining, it's four o'clock!"
Qin Xiu then turned around and smiled apologetically at Zhu Qianying through the glass.
Zhu Qianying smiled and nodded at him. Yan Shao left Qin Xiu behind and strode over. Qin Xiu wisely turned and left.
"I just bought some snacks at that shopping mall nearby, please make do with these."
Zhu Qianying bent down, took out the box, opened the lid, and pushed it in front of Yan Shao's special seat.
Yan Shao hummed in agreement, surprisingly without uttering a single complaint. He sat down in his designated seat, bent down to take a pack of wet wipes from the drawer under the coffee table, wiped his face, and then used another wipe to clean his hands.
While he was wiping and cleaning, Zhu Qianying got up and went to check the locker. "Young Master Yan, would you like coffee or tea?"
"Tea!"
After several visits, Zhu Qianying noticed that Yan Shao seemed to prefer tea to coffee.
The same goes for snacks and pastries; it seems they prefer Chinese-style ones more.
"Biluochun!" Before Zhu Qianying could ask any more questions, Yan Shao added.
Zhu Qianying brewed a pot of Biluochun tea and poured a cup for him and herself.
Then, I curled up on the sofa and started reading her book again.
Yan Shao took a sip of tea, picked up his chopsticks, and raised an eyebrow at her.
Aren't you going to eat?
Zhu Qianying was so moved that she almost knelt down and kowtowed. He had finally shown her a little bit of care!
"You eat it. I don't have the habit of having afternoon tea."
Young Master Yan looked her up and down a few times. "Afraid of gaining weight?"
Zhu Qianying was both amused and exasperated. Who said that not eating afternoon tea meant you were afraid of gaining weight?
"Of course not, I'm just not used to it. Look at my usual appetite, do I look like someone who's afraid of getting fat?" Zhu Qianying said frankly, sticking out her tongue at him and making a face.
A smile reappeared in Yan Shao's eyes. It was unclear whether he was amused by her funny face or reminded of her unrestrained manner when she ate.
Yan Shao picked up a xiaolongbao (soup dumpling) and stuffed it into his mouth, then frowned slightly.
Upon seeing this, Zhu Qianying knew that the food was not to his liking.
Sure enough, he's a picky eater!
Across from him, the picky young master, who had no habit of making do, tore off a tissue and spat out the whole steamed bun he had just eaten without chewing it.
"It doesn't taste good!"
After Yan Shao finished speaking with a frown, he picked up his cup, took a big gulp of tea, slurped it a few times, stood up, and spat the tea into the trash can next to him.
