Chapter 8: Meeting the Parents? (Third Update, Please Add to Favorites)

"Didn't you eat when you got home?" Yan Shao pulled himself out of his thoughts, but he still couldn't quite believe it. Logically speaking, she left early yesterday afternoon, so it shouldn't have been dinnertime when she got home.

The driver came back to confirm with him that he had safely delivered her home.

"I was exhausted, so I went back and fell asleep as soon as I got home. I slept until early this morning, but I was woken up by a phone call..." Zhu Qianying omitted the fact that she had woken up once in between, and she still seemed a little indignant when she mentioned the phone call that morning.

Yan Shao couldn't help but feel a little guilty, and a rare sense of sympathy secretly arose within him. His cold expression softened slightly, and he raised his hand and waved it. A middle-aged man who looked like a butler walked over and said, "Young Master!"

"Go to the kitchen and see what food they have, then bring it all over."

The middle-aged man was the Yan family's butler, and everyone called him Uncle Hai.

"Put it here?" Uncle Hai looked surprised!

Others might not know, but he had personally watched his young master grow from a baby into the tall and promising young man before him. He knew that his son always ate in the dining room, and not just him, but everyone else did too, because he said that one should do things where one is supposed to. Actually, it was because he couldn't stand the smell of food in the living room!

Reminded by him, Young Master Yan waved his hand impatiently, "Dining room!"

The dining room and kitchen are located side by side in one corner of the living room, separated from the living room by a glass wall with automatic opening and closing doors.

Zhu Qianying wolfed down the delicious buns, glancing casually at the living room several times, and clearly saw Yan Shao leaning back on the sofa listening to his assistant's work report.

On one occasion, Zhu Qianying was just opening her mouth wide and putting a whole shrimp dumpling into her mouth when her gaze, which was sweeping outwards, suddenly met Yan Shao's eyes, which were showing a strange expression.

Zhu Qianying felt a little embarrassed, but then she thought that she was not a very elegant person to begin with, so it was better for him to face reality sooner rather than later when his illusions were shattered.

Then, as she had hoped, she saw a hint of disgust flash across the other person's eyes and face, which further convinced her that this Young Master Yan was an extremely self-centered and controlling person.

well……

I thought the hard times were over, but it turns out I just escaped one clutches and jumped into another dark and hopeless pit...

Zhu Qianying withdrew her gaze in frustration. Whether it was because she had almost finished eating or because the remaining snacks were really not very tasty, her eating movements slowed down considerably, and she became noticeably absent-minded. In the end, she simply stopped, rested her chin on her hand, and stared blankly at the scenery of the garden outside.

"Fifth Miss, are you full?"

Uncle Hai has served the Yan family for many years and knows best how to read his master's expression. As he spoke, he thoughtfully handed them a warm, damp towel.

Zhu Qianying turned around, took the towel, and said thank you.

"Fifth Miss, would you like some tea to aid digestion?"

Uncle Hai glanced at the snacks on the table, which had been mostly eaten, and was secretly surprised. The amount of food on the table was enough for the master's family of three. How could this seemingly delicate little girl eat more than the young master?

Little did he know that if it weren't for Yan Shao's face making her lose her appetite, she could have eaten seven or eight tenths of the food on the table.

"No need... thank you!"

Not wanting to trouble the butler who looked no longer young, Zhu Qianying got up, pushed back her chair, and walked out.

Although Zhu Qianying really wanted to find out why Young Master Yan had picked her up so early in the morning, she saw that he was still listening attentively to his assistant's report, so she naturally didn't want to disturb him abruptly. She tactfully walked to the storage shelf, took her backpack, and sat down on the sofa near the terrace that faced the large garden outside the window.

I took a book out of my backpack, and once I started reading, I was completely engrossed in it.

"Very interesting?"

A deep male voice drifted over her head. Zhu Qianying subconsciously closed her book, looked up at him, and smiled, "Finished with work?"

Yan Shao was slightly annoyed by her ignoring his question, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

"What are you looking at? You're so engrossed!" The man stood straight behind her, his hands in his pockets.

Zhu Qianying deftly stuffed the book into her backpack. "It's nothing, I just picked it up to flip through when I was bored."

She lowered her head and zipped up her backpack. Yan Shao, standing behind her, naturally looked down at her honey-colored nape.

She wore her hair in a neat ponytail as usual, and a loose T-shirt casually draped over her body. Perhaps because she was thin or because the clothes were too loose, the neckline was slightly askew, revealing one shoulder.

To be honest, she was dressed quite conservatively, but she always inadvertently gave off an exceptionally sexy vibe, just like right now.

As a normal man, Yan Shao's eyes were fixed on the scene. His deep gaze was lowered, and he could vaguely see a patch of snow-white skin below his shoulders in the shadow of his collar.

It seems that her skin is quite fair, but the exposed skin is a healthy honey color, which suggests that she is a girl who loves sports.

It makes sense. How could someone who doesn't like sports have the physical strength and courage to climb out of the Grand Canyon all by themselves?

"You enjoy reading?"

Yan Shao is a persistent person; he seems unwilling to give up until he gets a clear answer to this question.

Zhu Qianying simply gave a faint "hmm," stood up, took two steps back to create some distance between them, and then looked up at him.

"Why did you pick me up so early in the morning? Didn't you tell me to stay home and wait for you to propose?"

Her beautiful, dark eyes were like a calm lake, and her tone was indifferent, as if she were a completely different person from the lively woman Yan Shao had met yesterday.

"My mother wants to see you!" Yan Shao's words were sure to shock.

Zhu Qianying was bending down to get her backpack when she heard his words. She stiffened, then picked up her backpack and stood up straight again.

"I thought... this should be something that happens some time from now," Zhu Qianying murmured, vaguely sensing that things seemed to be a little different from what she had imagined.

Yan Shao's grand and bizarre selection competition convinced Zhu Qianying that he was an extremely unconventional and rebellious man.

To him, arranged marriages and parental consent were utter garbage. So, would he obediently introduce her to his mother?

She would never believe it, even if you killed her!

"Weren't you so eager to marry me yesterday? What? Have you changed your mind?"

Yan Shao crossed his arms and carefully examined the woman in front of him. She said she was only twenty years old? Aside from her undeniably youthful face, how did she resemble that age?

Whether it's her quick reflexes, her exceptional insight, or the hidden claws that she can't help but reach out to grab someone in a moment of panic, none of these qualities seem like those of a twenty-year-old girl.
