Chapter 1 Inheriting the Immortal Lord's Throne

This year marks the twenty-third year since Xu Jiujun traveled to the spiritual world, and also the tenth year since he escaped.

"The Nine Emperors Palace will recruit disciples in three days. The location will be at the Nine Emperors Mountain for seven days." Seeing the notice on the street, Xu Jiujun was slightly stunned. It would be great if he had the aptitude to practice cultivation.

Unfortunately, although his talent for cultivation is not completely gone, it is infinitely close to zero.

"Alas, others who travel to the world of immortal cultivation all have a wall-hanging system or the ability to hang on the wall, but why do I have nothing?" Xu Jiujun sighed in his heart and was about to continue moving forward when a strange phenomenon suddenly occurred.

The sky ahead was suddenly engulfed in darkness in an instant, and continued to move towards the direction where Xu Jiujun was.

Seeing this, people on the street fled in all directions, but they didn't expect that the darkness from the sky would suddenly sweep over the streets and alleys, and half of the city was razed to the ground in an instant.

Seeing the darkness sweeping in, Xu Jiujun remained calm. Since his family fell into poverty and was wiped out by the six major families ten years ago, he had been prepared for death during the time he fled. However, he was unwilling to die like this. He had not yet sought revenge and found his little sister who fled with him but got lost.

Just when the darkness was only a few meters away from Xu Jiujun, a powerful voice suddenly appeared: "Stop!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the darkness stopped and an old man in a gray Taoist robe floated down and stood in front of Xu Jiujun.

"Disperse!" The old man shouted softly, but it was like a violent storm, forcing the darkness in front of him back several miles!

At this moment, two red lights lit up in the darkness, as if a pair of eyes were staring at the old man: "Old man! Why are you stopping me!"

"I was wondering who it was. It turns out to be Xuanxian." The old man chuckled, forming seals with his hands, and dots of starlight lit up in front of him, eight in total, like the Bagua. Then the old man stretched out his hand and pointed at Xuanxian. A dazzling light flew towards Xuanxian. At this moment, Xuanxian erupted with endless darkness, as if he wanted to swallow up the light.

The darkness was finally pierced by the light, and the clear sky returned. A figure in black fell from the sky and slammed heavily in front of Xu Jiujun and the old man.

"Is the Xuanxian, who has a bounty of celestial level, so weak?" The old man said as he stepped forward and mentioned Xuanxian. When he turned around to leave, he suddenly caught a glimpse of Xu Jiujun's face. A familiar feeling came to his heart, and the blood in his body seemed to sense something.

"Little guy, where are you from?" The old man looked at Xu Jiujun kindly and asked softly.

"I fled here from the River Region." Xu Jiujun answered truthfully.

The old man was very excited when he heard this, and then asked, "Where is the river area?"

"Heyu Xu Family."

"Who is Xu Wenchong to you?"

Xu Jiujun was frightened by the old man's excitement, but still answered truthfully: "My father."

After hearing this, the old man was so excited that he couldn't speak. He said three "good" words in a row, and after a while he said: "My name is Xu Chongwu, do you know me?"

"Xu Chongwu?" Xu Jiujun thought for a moment, then said, "I once heard my father say that he has a younger brother who was taken in as a disciple by the immortals of the Nine Emperors Palace hundreds of years ago. His name is Xu Chongwu."

"Yes, I am your uncle." Xu Chongwu sighed and continued, "Ten years ago, when the Xu family was destroyed, I was in seclusion. My brother sent me a letter asking me to help find you. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the letter until two years later."

"Fortunately, fortunately, I finally found you now."

Xu Chongwu smiled happily, holding Xu Jiujun in one hand and Xuanxian in the other, stepped on the fairy sword and flew directly back to the Nine Emperors Palace.

"My elder brother asked me to find you and take care of you for the rest of your life. I also know your situation. It's okay if you can't practice cultivation. You can still cultivate your mind and body. There are plenty of ways out."

"Two years ago, my uncle became the Immortal Master of Jiutian Immortal Mountain, one of the Thirty-Six Immortal Mountains. He has not yet accepted any disciples. From now on, you will be my successor."

After everything was arranged, it was already evening. Xu Jiujun came to Xu Chongwu's door and knocked twice.

"Come in." Xu Chongwu's voice came from the room. The door opened and he saw Xu Jiujun coming in. He asked, "What's wrong, Jiujun? Are you not used to living here?"

"No, uncle, I want to ask, to what extent do I need to cultivate before I can take revenge."

"Hahaha, actually, if you want revenge, I can wipe out all six of those families with one palm strike. But when the Xu family was destroyed, those six families were just cannon fodder. The real masters are still behind, and I'm not sure I can destroy them all."

"You should cultivate your mind first. Don't let hatred blind your eyes and affect your Tao heart."

"I understand. I'll go back first, uncle." Xu Jiujun nodded thoughtfully. After returning to his room, he began to practice according to the method of cultivating the mind given by Xu Chongwu.

Time flies, and five years have passed in the blink of an eye.

During these five years, Xu Jiujun really only cultivated his mind, and made no progress at all in other aspects, whether it was cultivating immortality or refining the body.

Xu Chongwu was about to cry. He had seen people who were born disabled, but he had never seen anyone as disabled as this one.

"Hey, have you heard? It's said that in the past five years, the disciple of the Nine Heavens Immortal Lord hasn't made any progress at all. He's probably a waste!"

"I heard about it too. It seems that he got the position of disciple through connections."

"Oh, so it's a relative."

"I can only envy them for being born into a good family."

Such remarks have been heard one after another in the past few years. Xu Jiujun did not think it was a big deal, after all, what they said was true. However, Xu Chongwu was unhappy about it. He was a person who protected his own people, so he was very angry when he heard others say this.
