One-Eyed Dragon was startled and quickly stopped the carriage. Mo Qingcheng and Shangguan Yichen jumped down from the carriage and looked around, but there was no trace of the old beggar.
"Madam... Madam..." The one-eyed man was so frightened that he knelt on the ground with a thud: "It's all my fault."
Mo Qingcheng frowned slightly, staring in the direction where the old beggar had disappeared, seemingly lost in thought.
A terrifying thought flashed through Shangguan Yichen's mind: "Mother, let's go back quickly!"
"Hmm..." Mo Qingcheng responded lightly, glancing at the one-eyed man with a seemingly casual look: "It's alright."
One-Eyed Dragon wiped the sweat from his brow with his sleeve. His heart was pounding in his chest. It was all his fault for being so arrogant. What if... what if... something happened to Madam? He would atone with his death...
Fatty and Pockmarked were trembling like leaves, when One-Eyed kicked them. They jolted awake and scrambled to get to the car with One-Eyed.
The young boy sensed something was amiss: "Mother, is someone... doing this on purpose...?"
"Hmm..." Mo Qingcheng responded perfunctorily, a blurry image flashing through her mind, and a splitting headache soon followed.
"Mother? Mother..." Shangguan Yichen patted Mo Qingcheng's back, his face pale. "Mother, don't scare me..."
At this moment, Mo Qingcheng's world was plunged into darkness, with the roar of cannons and the collision of spaceships in the air, raising mushroom clouds.
"Ah...no..." A strange red light flashed in Mo Qingcheng's eyes as she pushed Shangguan Yichen away.
The little boy was slightly stunned, then grabbed Mo Qingcheng's leg and cried out, "Mommy, wake up..."
Upon hearing the commotion, the three one-eyed brothers immediately stopped the carriage.
"Young Master..."
"Shut up!" Shangguan Yichen was full of murderous intent as he struggled to hold onto Mo Qingcheng, preventing her from jumping off the carriage.
Mo Qingcheng suddenly turned around: "Stop!"
"No!"
"I'll say it again, stop!"
A chilling voice pierced his ears. Shangguan Yichen glared defiantly at Mo Qingcheng: "You're not my mother, you're a devil! Give me back my mother!"
"Hehe..." Mo Qingcheng smiled mysteriously and reached out to push Shangguan Yichen.
The young boy moved nimbly, circled around to the front, and stretched out his arms to block Mo Qingcheng's path.
Mo Qingcheng lost her temper, grabbed the little boy's arm, and bit him hard.
"Hiss..." Shangguan Yichen's face was bloodless, and he held back his anger.
A moment later, the red light in Mo Qingcheng's eyes faded, and she regained her clarity, looking down in surprise.
"Yichen, you..."
"I won't die..." The young boy said expressionlessly, hiding his arms behind his back.
Mo Qingcheng closed her eyes briefly, then pulled the little boy into her arms, choking back tears as she said, "I'm sorry... Mother..."
"It's alright..." Shangguan Yichen felt a pang of sadness. His mother was probably too tired, which led to her suffering a qi deviation...
"But……"
"It's all Father's fault..."
Mo Qingcheng: "..."
Speechless and choked with emotion, a pang of pain shot through his heart. With a flick of his wrist, a small medicine box appeared out of thin air.
Mo Qingcheng grasped the young boy's hand and tenderly tended to his wound.
Shangguan Yichen glanced outside: "Isn't Protector Long leaving yet?"
The three one-eyed brothers seemed to have lost their minds; they seemed to know what had just happened in the carriage, yet also seemed to have forgotten it all at once.
"Oh...here it comes..."
The three drove in silence.
Mo Qingcheng felt heavy-hearted. Could it be that her terminal illness from her past life had been resurrected?
Damn it, this is outrageous!
"Foolish mother, don't flaunt your wealth." Shangguan Yichen glanced at the small medicine box, becoming even angrier.
Mo Qingcheng shook her head: "Your cousin left it for your mother to keep in reserve..."
