Chapter 2: The Eldest Daughter of the Xu Family in Another World
As the express deliveries arrived one after another, Xu Nian put the things into the space one by one. She didn't know whether it would snow or rain in the space, so she bought a large military-style tent and set it up in the space for fear that the things would get wet.
In order to make the tent look tidy, she bought a few shelves and installed them in the tent, making it easy to find things.
While she was putting her things in order, she also planted the seeds she had bought on a designated piece of land. After half a month of busy work, she was delighted to see the corn cobs and the fruit trees in full bloom. From now on, she would be self-sufficient and would never starve to death.
That night, after Xu Nian checked everything one last time, he went to bed and was so excited about going back home the next day that he could hardly sleep.
Just as Xu Nian was making pancakes on the bed, she suddenly felt dizzy and the room shook. Just when she thought it might be an earthquake, an object hit her. Before she could dodge, her eyes went black and she lost consciousness.
When Xu Nian opened her eyes again, she felt a dull pain in her head. When she raised her hand to touch her head, she was stunned.
Xu Nian turned her head stiffly and looked at her raised hand. This was not her hand. How could she have such small hands at the age of 28?
When she wanted to sit up and observe her surroundings, she heard footsteps approaching outside and quickly closed her eyes.
Xu Nian concentrated on hearing someone open the door. He walked to the bed, touched her forehead and said thankfully, "Thank God, the fever has finally subsided."
At this moment, Xu Nian's heart was pounding. She felt so confused. What on earth was going on? Could she have traveled through time? But when she thought about it, she had such an incredible thing as space, so traveling through time didn't seem to be a strange thing.
But even if she traveled through time, she had to be given some memories of her original self. She has no idea now, so how should she live?
Just when Xu Nian was thinking about this and that, the people in the room had already walked out. Xu Nian tentatively opened his eyes and quickly sat up.
The house was somewhat similar to the one in her hometown, except that the windows here were covered with paper. She lowered her head, lifted the quilt and checked herself again.
This was indeed not her body. It had shrunk so much. The clothes she was wearing looked very much like the Hanfu worn by her former colleague. Xu Nian was sure that she had not only traveled through time but also traveled to ancient times.
While she was thinking about all sorts of things, she didn't see a little girl pushing open the door. It was not until she heard a sharp voice of "Sister is awake" that Xu Nian came to her senses.
Soon after, several people came in. Before Xu Nian could react, a woman hugged her in her arms and started sobbing. Xu Nian, who hadn't been so close to anyone for a long time, froze for a moment.
"Oh, sister-in-law, why do I feel that the eldest girl is in a daze? Could she have fallen and become stupid?" A woman who looked like a black-faced steamed bun exclaimed.
"Second brother, if you can't speak, just shut your mouth." A short old woman scolded.
Even so, the old woman also felt that something was wrong with her eldest granddaughter, so she quickly pushed the crying woman aside.
"Girl, how do you feel about telling grandma?"
Xu Nian couldn't stop crying as she looked at the old woman who looked 70% like her grandmother in her previous life. She cried, "Grandma, I thought I would never see you again."
The old woman, holding the crying child in her arms, couldn't help but think sadly that this child must have suffered a great sin, otherwise how could her granddaughter have been so close to her.
When Xu Nian finally stopped talking and said with sobs that he remembered nothing, everyone except the old woman was stunned.
The reason why the old woman could still laugh was because she felt that her eldest granddaughter was usually taciturn, and she didn't expect that the person closest to her in her heart was actually her, an old woman. Even though she didn't remember anything, she still remembered her grandmother.
When the family asked the doctor about the situation, the doctor was also stunned. He was just a half-baked person trying to make a living in the village, and he had never seen such a situation before.
Finally, under the gaze of more than a dozen pairs of eyes, I had to say that I would recover naturally and slowly, and the specific recovery time would depend on the situation.
Ever since the doctor examined Xu Nian's condition that day, her mother Tian has never stopped crying. She was really afraid that one day Tian would cry her eyes blind, which would be a real sin for her.
After listening to the little radishes and people around him over the past two days, Xu Nian roughly pieced together the original person's identity and family composition.
The Xu family is a large family with a total of fifteen people. The head of the family, Xu Ren, who is also the grandfather of the original body, is already forty-eight years old this year.
He and his grandmother Wang Zhen had five sons and one daughter, but only four brothers survived.
This was very rare in ancient rural areas where medical conditions were backward, so Wang was very confident both in the village and at home.
When Xu Ren was young, he followed a caravan out for two years. After earning some money, he returned to the village, got married and had children. Later, he started working in a cloth shop in the town, working his way up from an apprentice to the manager.
Because of the old man's ability, the Xu family is one of the best in Dahe Village, so they can afford to send their eldest son Xu Yaozu, Xu Nian's father, to school.
But even with such conditions, the Xu family could only send one son to school, so the second son Xu Fugui and the third son Xu Youliang could only farm at home, and the youngest son Xu Weian was sent by Wang to his cousin to be an apprentice craftsman.
Now the three sons of the Xu family have all married and had children, leaving only the fifteen-year-old youngest son Xu Weian who is still single.
Xu Yaozu and his wife Tian Qiaoer had a son and a daughter, twelve-year-old Xu Nian and nine-year-old Xu Ji.
Xu Fugui and his wife Zheng Chunzhi have two sons and one daughter, nine-year-old twins Xu Kang and Xu Jian, and seven-year-old Xu Ling.
Xu Youliang and his wife Wang Zhaodi had a son, the little ball that Xu Nian saw when he woke up, five-year-old Xu Cai.
Before Xu Nian could continue to sort out the information in her mind, she saw her younger brother Xu Ji coming over and calling her to eat.
However, Xu Ji, who was following behind Xu Nian, sighed. Ever since his elder sister woke up from falling down the hillside, she has been in a daze. Everyone in the village said that his elder sister had become stupid.
Before his father went to the provincial capital to take the exam, he asked him to take good care of his mother and sister, but he failed to do so.
The heartless Xu Nian did not realize that the boy behind her was worried and she urgently needed to fill her stomach.
Who would have thought that one of the richest families in the village only had two bowls of porridge and a few stir-fried green leafy vegetables a day, without even a piece of minced meat.
Xu Nian really couldn't bear to imagine what ordinary people eat.
When he walked into the main hall, the dining table was already full. Xu Nian sat down at his seat and waited for Grandma Wang to share the food.
The thickest porridge Wang gave to the head of the household, Xu Ren, was the next in line, followed by his two sons.
Because Xu Nian was sick, she was the first grandchild to be given the porridge, so the porridge in the bowl was relatively thick.
Next come the boys among the grandchildren, then the girls, and finally the women in the family.
Even Wang, who was at the top of the pyramid of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, ended up filling her own bowl with nothing more than porridge with more water and less rice!
