Chapter 10 Chapter 10 He clumsily tried to divert attention
Early in the morning, the Beijing garrison was bustling with activity.
After Zhan Yunmei was ambushed, Geng Qi also suffered harm.
On New Year's Eve, Geng Qi was unable to book a restaurant in the city, so he returned to the Jingying camp. On the same road, Geng Qi also encountered an avalanche. He was not able to jump off the vehicle in time, and the snow pressed on his ankle. The injury was not serious, but he walked with a limp and occasionally had to hop to get around.
It has a very unique appearance.
Princess Rongning, seeing Geng Qi hopping around, always thought he was like a wildly temperamental rabbit and laughed at him for a long time.
Zhan Yunmei only gave a very faint smile in response.
Geng Qi firmly believes that he was also attacked by villains and demands to thoroughly investigate the case with Zhan Yunmei. Zhan Yunmei agrees to let him participate in the case.
Perhaps because they had a common enemy, Geng Qi had lessened his prejudice against Zhan Yunmei during this period, and even asked her to work harder on the case.
After the New Year, the snow gradually subsided.
Zhan Yunmei opened the doors and windows of the main hall of the martial arts hall. The fine spring snow could not get in, and only the cold wind made the room a little more open.
"General, there were too many officers and soldiers out that day, so we can't confirm exactly who went to the outskirts of Beijing," Deputy General Chen reported on the latest developments in the case.
Zhan Yunmei, who was resting with her hand propped up, slowly opened her eyes upon hearing this, nodded, and said, "Thank you for your hard work."
"What's this about?" Deputy General Chen scratched his head sheepishly, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and whispered in Zhan Yunmei's ear, "Isn't Deputy General Geng also investigating? He said he suspects it was the same person who committed the crime."
He paused, a look of disapproval and sarcasm on his face. "Tell me, who would be stupid enough to harm the Beijing Garrison using the same methods?"
Evening clouds drifted in from the horizon, casting a dim, yellowish light on Deputy General Chen's face, dividing it in two, with light and darkness appearing on the same face.
Zhan Yunmei stared at it, a slight smile curving her lips.
Of course she knew who had hurt Geng Qi.
But she still said, "Geng's deputy also suffered in this matter. Take better care of him in the future, and there's no need to investigate him anymore."
.
After early spring, many new flowers bloomed in the flower hall of the general's mansion, with pear trees full of white blossoms and some peach blossoms that were about to bloom.
The fruit peaches are not as pretty as the flowering peaches, but they can bear fruit. Hua Lang spends his days in the mansion watering the flowers and planting the fruit trees. Of course, he will still pull them out when he is in a bad mood.
The peach trees should be in full bloom next month, but they are all small now, which doesn't look like a sign that they will be in full bloom at all.
Hua Lang tried to figure out which step went wrong. She specifically asked the servants in charge of flowers in the manor about the planting process, but the plants still didn't grow as big as the ones they planted.
He called Yao Shuniang over, and Yao Shuniang looked at it and said, "Eunuch Hualang, this needs to be doused with manure."
Hua Lang frowned in disdain, "Then forget it."
They decisively gave up on growing peaches.
Yao Shuniang said, "If you don't want to do it yourself, you can have the servants do it."
"No, it stinks," Hua Lang still refused.
He was extremely clean, changing his clothes every few hours to prevent his body odor from spreading. He changed his bedding every two weeks. He disliked that Zhan Yunmei was always out and about and would bring back dirt and grime from outside, even though she washed herself thoroughly every day when she returned home.
After changing her clothes, Hua Lang sat in the lobby waiting for Zhan Yunmei.
If Zhan Yunmei doesn't return after he counts to ten, he will start having dinner, then wash himself and go to sleep.
Moreover, she became increasingly shameless, even daring to play with his mouth with her hands.
Hua Lang pursed her lips, as if she still felt that sensation.
"Why are all the peaches outside dead?" Zhan Yunmei returned home dusty and tired, and Yao Shuniang stepped forward to help her take off her cloak.
Yao Shuniang's eyes turned to Hua Lang.
Zhan Yunmei immediately understood, and went to wash her hands with a smile, saying, "As long as you're happy."
Zhan Yunmei's words came from the bottom of her heart. She sincerely hoped that Hua Lang would be happy. He wandered around the mansion, and she always felt that he was deliberately seducing her, but he was unwilling and not necessarily forcing her.
It's not impossible.
But I'm worried he might get stressed.
After finishing her meal, Zhan Yunmei returned to her study with little interest. The Beijing garrison brought her a batch of official documents concerning the avalanche case.
Hua Lang went back to the main house, rested for a while, and then went to sleep. His days were always uneventful and boring.
After he blew out the lamp and lay down, there was still light in the study next door. That light crept in through the crack in the door and was particularly noticeable to him.
For some reason, Hua Lang couldn't sleep.
I couldn't fall asleep no matter how much I tossed and turned; there was a face in my mind—it was Zhan Yunmei's.
Zhan Yunmei's smile was gentle and soft, unlike the rugged military general Hua Lang had in mind. When she smiled, she was very kind and gave people a sense of security.
The image of fingers penetrating deeper into his tongue surfaced, gradually eroding Hua Lang's reason until the fingertips touched the root of his tongue. He couldn't bear it anymore, and his stomach and throat reacted.
Hua Lang suddenly woke up.
In a half-awake state, he dreamt of Zhan Yunmei, which startled him into a cold sweat. He touched the blanket, intending to cover himself tightly, when he suddenly touched something warm.
Hua Lang turned around quickly, and Zhan Yunmei reached out and covered his mouth. Their eyes met, one filled with fear and the other with confusion.
"Having a nightmare?" Zhan Yunmei pulled Hua Lang into her arms, her fingertips running through his hair. "Your face is pale with fright."
"I really had a nightmare, I dreamt of monsters!" Hua Lang shoved Zhan Yunmei away, her eyes wide with anger.
"Oh, so I'm a monster?" Zhan Yunmei laughed. "You kept calling my name just now, I thought Eunuch Hua Lang missed me."
Hua Lang froze.
What do you mean by calling her name repeatedly?
How could he possibly call her by her name!
She's treated him like that, how could he possibly speak!
Hua Lang blinked rapidly, pursing her lips repeatedly until they became even redder.
Zhan Yunmei glanced at it and wanted to laugh.
She was just talking nonsense, why is he so nervous? Is he really that afraid of her?
Despite thinking this, Zhan Yunmei continued to scare him, "You keep calling me Zhan Yunmei, I can hear you in the study."
Seeing how exaggerated it was, Hua Lang realized she was teasing him. His panic vanished instantly, replaced by his gloomy expression, and he coldly said, "Get out!"
Zhan Yunmei's smile froze, quickly becoming fake, but she wasn't really angry; she liked his venting...
Because he's always been a paper tiger. If he's really angry, he should hang himself instead of yelling at her here.
She didn't say anything and got into bed.
"You?" Hua Lang was taken aback. Why was she not saying anything?
Shouldn't I say something, or touch him inappropriately?
Hua Lang reflected on whether he had vented his anger too much today and provoked Zhan Yunmei. He was afraid of angering her because he didn't know what she might do to him.
Hua Lang lay down silently, unusually not turning his back, but carefully observing Zhan Yunmei after his eyes adjusted to the darkness.
It was too dark inside. He had just woken up and it took him a lot of effort to see her clearly.
She wasn't asleep; her eyes were open, and she was looking at him.
The moment their eyes met again, Hua Lang realized she had been teased once more. She paused for a moment, then turned away.
Just as I turned around, I heard a soft, short laugh behind me.
"Hua Lang, you're so cute," Zhan Yunmei reached out and put her arm around Hua Lang's waist, pulling him closer. Her lips touched the delicate skin on the back of his neck, and she opened her mouth to bite him.
Zhan Yunmei untied the ties on Hua Lang's nightgown, and with all his might, he pressed down on her hand.
Hua Lang hesitated, his entire attention focused on the back of his neck and lower back; he felt like he was about to boil.
"I," Hua Lang didn't know what to say. Her consciousness was pulled back to the half-dreaming, half-awake scene, which quickly overlapped with her current state, blurry and indistinct.
Hua Lang trembled, and even his voice became intermittent.
Upon hearing his voice, Zhan Yunmei was stunned for a moment, then a surge of pleasure filled her mind. She used her other hand to reach under Hua Lang's head, letting him rest his head on it, raising his head to make it easier for her to kiss him.
The eunuchs lost the fruit of desire, but they did not eradicate its root; it remained active in their minds and bodies.
Just like Hualang.
He was being kissed and rubbed by her, his breathing became heavier and wetter, his chest heaving noticeably, and his body burning hot, which also burned Zhan Yunmei.
A bead of sweat trickled down Zhan Yunmei's forehead, down her chin, onto Hua Lang's cheek, and then onto his lips, where she tasted saltiness.
This also brought him to his senses somewhat, and he began to struggle.
He struggled, and she immediately let go of him.
Hua Lang lay down, calming her breathing.
Feeling a deep sense of loss.
"Sleep well," Zhan Yunmei said, tucking her back into her clothes.
After a long while, Hua Lang came to his senses, raised his hand and touched the fine sweat and lingering warmth on his body, his eyes filled with confusion.
My heart is adrift and unsettled. He was clearly responding, yet he still refused, which made him seem hypocritical and pretentious.
But Hua Lang didn't have the courage to tell her that he had a desire to continue, but at the same time, he couldn't overcome his physical disability.
He wanted to say something to ease the tension, but after thinking it over, all he could think of was her avalanche case. He gripped the blanket tightly and almost gritted his teeth to force himself to speak, “The avalanche…it’s not necessarily because the military officers were jealous. Now that the country has been founded, many things are complicated.”
"Huh? Why are you suddenly bringing this up?" Zhan Yunmei wasn't asleep. Hearing his clumsy attempt to distract her, she wanted to laugh, but she held it in for fear of making him angry.
"It's nothing," she replied, which emboldened him, and he spoke with much more confidence. "Tsk, you don't even understand when I remind you."
“Yes, I understand,” Zhan Yunmei noticed Hua Lang’s change, her eyebrows curving into a smile as she hugged his waist. “Hua Lang, let’s try it tomorrow night. Blow out the light, and you won’t be able to see.”
