His pistachio
Qi Xu originally wanted to let go of that matter and stop dwelling on it, but her curiosity compelled her to eventually find out more.
She pretended to be nonchalant and moved over to Han Xue, who was not far away.
Han Xue was kneading a snowball, seemingly about to throw it at someone else, but stopped when she saw Qi Xu approaching and handed him the snowball: "Want to play?"
"No, it's too cold." Qi Xu shook his head.
Han Xue noticed the unease on her face and asked with a smile, "Is something the matter?"
"I just wanted to ask if anything new has happened at school lately? I'll be at school these days so I can be prepared," Qi Xu said vaguely.
Han Xue sensed the unspoken meaning and leaned closer, saying, "There's big news! He told the whole school that he has someone he likes, and that no one can compare to her. Isn't that obviously telling the whole world?" After saying that, she raised an eyebrow at Qi Xu.
The silence was broken by a snowball that landed squarely on Qi Xu.
She looked up at the group of people playing around. Hao Nan froze on the spot, his eyes meeting hers. His earlobes were bright red, whether from the cold or from embarrassment, she didn't know.
Xu Bai quickly explained to Qi Xu, "It's not us, it's Hao Nan." Everyone then pushed Hao Nan forward.
The others continued playing happily, while Qi Xu and Hao Nan stood not far away, looking at each other without saying a word.
Hao Nan looked at her with tenderness and affection, while Qi Xu looked at him with a blank expression, as if she was thinking about something through him, unable to give herself a definite answer.
She just stood there watching him. Hao Nan took a step forward to approach her, but the school bell suddenly rang, and he stopped in his tracks. But in an instant, he walked straight towards her, his steps firm, his face unchanged as always.
Qi Xu stared blankly as he approached, as if drawn by some kind of magic. He first took one step, and then his other foot followed, until both feet were aligned.
He stopped in front of her, his eyes filled with tenderness, and his voice softened: "I have to go to class now."
“I know,” she replied softly.
Hao Nan turned and left the snow, heading towards the classroom. Qi Xu also turned and left, preparing to go to Han Cheng's office.
She knocked on the door, and a serious voice came from inside. She pushed the door open and went in. "Dad, the house key."
Han Cheng, who was reading a book, heard her voice, looked up and saw Qi Xu. He couldn't hide the joy in his eyes: "You're back. Come and sit down." He quickly poured her a cup of hot water and handed it to her so she could warm her hands.
Looking at Qi Xu's clothes and appearance, Han Cheng nodded in satisfaction. It seemed that she was doing quite well.
"When are you leaving?" he asked.
Qi Xu took a sip of hot water: "Is the school planning to hold a carnival?"
"Yes, the students have been working too hard lately, so we're organizing a school-wide party to help everyone relax," Han Cheng said. "Come join if you want."
"Yeah, let's go have some fun."
"Good, have you met your friends yet?"
Qi Xu nodded.
"These are textbooks I saved for you." Han Cheng pushed a storage box in front of her. "If you want to study, I'll keep them for you. It's okay if you don't study them even if you have a guaranteed admission spot."
"Let's see," Qi Xu said.
After resting in the office for a while, she took the keys and left.
Opening the door to her long-unvisited home, she felt no emotion, as if it were just a place that was dispensable and meaningless to her.
Back in the bedroom, everything was exactly as she had left it. Walking to the table, the drawings on the bookshelf were neatly arranged, almost exactly as they had been when she left, but she clearly sensed they had been disturbed.
She couldn't remember the placement of other things, but she remembered the location and arrangement of the drawings perfectly.
The most obvious change is the stack of drawings in the middle, which was originally slightly tilted to the left, but is now placed neatly and squarely.
But she didn't care at all, thinking to herself: even if you copy the painting, you can't copy my skills.
She had barely lain down in bed when her phone rang twice. One was from Li Mo, and the other from Hong Ming, both asking if she had arrived home safely.
After she replied to the two of them, another message came in, with the contact name being Li Mofeng, Li Mo's younger brother.
I looked for you today, but my sister said you went home. Be careful on your way home.
Upon seeing the message, Qi Xu felt inexplicably irritated. She simply replied with an "Mm," then silenced her phone and went to catch up on her sleep.
In the classroom, Hao Nan was completely out of sorts, much more lively than usual. His mind was filled with the joy of Qi Xu's return today, and the smile on his lips never faded.
Xu Sheng couldn't stand it anymore and leaned over when the teacher wasn't looking: "Do you know what you look like right now?"
"Like what?" Hao Nan asked, puzzled.
"Fool." Xu Sheng suppressed a laugh, trying his best not to laugh out loud.
"Do you know what you look like right now?" Hao Nan asked him with a mischievous grin.
Xu Sheng barely suppressed a laugh: "Tell me, what does it resemble?"
"Like an angry pufferfish."
As soon as he finished speaking, Xu Sheng couldn't help himself. The image of a pufferfish flashed through his mind, and he burst out laughing. All the students in the class turned to look at them.
Hao Nan was prepared and immediately pretended to be engrossed in reading.
The teacher on the podium stared at him. Xu Sheng was so frightened by the teacher's sharp gaze that he quickly picked up his book and stood at the back of the classroom, not forgetting to glare at Hao Nan, who was pretending to study.
The teacher looked at Hao Nan: "Aren't you going to do something?"
"Teacher, he was laughing by himself, it has nothing to do with me."
"Why does he laugh for no reason? Why does he laugh at you and not others? Give me a reasonable explanation."
"Maybe he really is laughing for no reason."
You mean he's stupid?
The whole class burst into laughter.
"Uh, teacher, I didn't say that."
Isn't that what you mean?
Xu Sheng, standing behind him, wanted to retort: "Hao Nan, if the teacher tells you to stand, then stand. Why are you making so many excuses?"
"Alright, you two stop arguing. Hao Nan, don't think I don't know what you've been doing this class. Go stand at the back," the teacher said.
The teacher's words instantly enlivened the previously drowsy and lifeless classroom.
Hao Nan obediently picked up his book and stood at the back of the classroom, keeping a distance from Xu Sheng, not wanting to see him at all.
Xu Sheng deliberately tore off a small piece of paper from the book, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it at Hao Nan.
Hao Nan saw the crumpled paper and threw it back, ignoring it.
"Hey, still ignoring me?" Xu Sheng crumpled up another large piece of paper and threw it at him. Hao Nan was furious and picked up a crumpled piece of paper and threw it at Xu Sheng.
Xu Sheng immediately raised his hand: "Teacher, Hao Nan is harassing me."
Hao Nan looked incredulous. When had he ever harassed him? He'd been set up.
Xu Sheng handed the crumpled paper that Hao Nan had thrown to the teacher. When he opened it, the handwriting on it was clearly Hao Nan's.
"Hao Nan, go stand outside." The teacher looked at the crumpled paper, then at Xu Sheng, who had a smug look on his face. "You go stand outside too."
Hao Nan's face turned ashen with anger. He cursed inwardly, "Fine, I'm kicked out just because the teacher explained something I didn't know." "Teacher, can I listen to the rest of the question before I leave?"
"No, I'll teach you a lesson so you won't do it again."
Xu Sheng wasn't angry. Anyway, they were even. He had tricked him, and he had gotten back at him.
The two obediently walked out of the classroom. When Hao Nan went out, he deliberately bumped into Xu Sheng.
Tingyue lay on the table and complained, "These two are so childish."
"It's all because someone came back, turning what was once a glacier into a volcanic eruption," someone nearby chimed in.
“You used that word quite accurately; it really suits him,” Tingyue said.
Outside the classroom, the two ignored each other and just stood there.
After class, back in their seats, they both moved their chairs to the side, keeping a distance from each other.
This scene was witnessed by Wan Xiaoyi and Han Xue, who were about to leave, and they couldn't help but laugh. "Are you two three-year-olds?" Wan Xiaoyi asked first.
“Even a child knows how to back down, so why doesn’t he?” Xu Sheng responded.
"Hmph, kids don't hold grudges, they're petty," Hao Nan retorted.
The two started arguing again, and it looked like they were about to come to blows. "Hey, hey, Hao Nan, what happened to your cool and aloof school heartthrob image?" Han Xue quickly tried to break them up.
Wan Xiaoyi also pulled Xu Sheng, saying, "No, no, calm down."
But their tempers only flared up, and neither was willing to back down.
Seeing that trying to mediate was useless, Wan Xiaoyi and Han Xue had no choice but to leave. Finally, the argument subsided after the two had argued until their throats were almost hoarse and they could only cough incessantly.
Neither of them was convinced, but they couldn't make a sound. All they could hear were each other's hoarse voices, which amused them. And so the matter was dropped.
Qi Xu slept at home until evening, when his stomach started growling with hunger, and he finally got out of bed.
At this moment, Han Cheng had already prepared the meal, and the aroma wafted into the bedroom, further whetting her appetite.
Stepping out of the bedroom, she saw a large pot on the table, with plenty of side dishes beside it. Han Xue was already sitting at the table, beckoning to her: "Hungry? Come and eat."
Qi Xu sat down, already impatient. Han Cheng just brought out the last plate of pork tenderloin, and the family sat together, happily preparing to eat.
"Qi Xu, eat more meat, don't just eat vegetables all the time." Han Xue scooped a full spoonful of meat into her bowl. "You need to eat more meat to have energy. Eating only vegetables isn't enough nutrition."
"That's enough, that's enough." Qi Xu looked at the mountain of meat in the bowl and didn't know where to start eating.
She actually quite likes eating meat, but she was worried about gaining weight from eating so much, so she planned to eat vegetables first and then meat last. But given the current situation, she has no choice but to eat meat first.
It's okay to eat something good once in a while. She thought to herself, and began to devour the meat, completely letting loose.
"Our carnival program is 'The Waltz of Love,' a dance. You have to come to school tomorrow, Qixu," Han Xue said.
"Is it okay if we're not in the same class?" Qi Xu asked.
"These are activities that the students organize themselves in teams, and the teachers don't interfere," Han Cheng explained.
“Sure, no problem.” Qi Xu readily agreed. She opened her phone and sent an “OK” emoji in the group chat to indicate her agreement.
Just after sending the message, her phone rang again. It was Han Xue replying in the group chat. She smiled and continued eating her meat.
