Romance meets at this moment
She chatted with her father for a few minutes before returning to her studio.
Qi Xu was still there, engrossed in reading, completely absorbed, as if he had entered the world of the book and could no longer pull himself out.
Meng Jia returned to the studio, sat at her workstation, and cautiously observed her, her face showing a complex and unfathomable emotion.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Qi Xu didn't look up, but he had already noticed Meng Jia's actions out of the corner of his eye.
Upon hearing this, Meng Jia's expression vanished in an instant, and she began to busy herself with what she was doing: "Sister Qi is beautiful, it's good for my eyes to look at her a few more times."
Qi Xu's eyebrows curved slightly, her gaze softened, but her attention remained on the book.
The studio returned to silence.
Qi Xu spent the whole day at the company reading books, and she had read all of these books before.
So she read very quickly, but her eyes were a little sore. She looked up and around, wanting to give her eyes a rest.
Her first day at the company was almost over, and she hadn't received any tasks at all; she was just sitting there reading.
To be precise, it means there's nothing to do, just sitting there doing nothing, killing time.
"Meng Jia, is this how it is for all newcomers on their first day?"
"Pretty much. There's not much to do, so I have to find opportunities to prove myself and that I deserve recognition and have the ability." Meng Jia stopped what she was doing, thought for a moment, and then spoke.
Qi Xu sighed softly to himself, now fully understanding the meaning behind the words of the woman who had previously made things difficult for him.
While she was lost in thought, Meng Jia's drawing had a problem, so she helped Meng Jia revise it.
Time passed just like that, a meaningless day.
After getting off work, Qi Xu walked downstairs and looked back at the tall buildings behind him.
The sky was overcast, the weather was gloomy, and a chilly wind was blowing.
In this sweltering summer, this cool breeze is just the right thing to do.
Whether it was her imagination or not, she always felt that someone was watching her, and she also felt that it was too easy and unreasonable for the company to let her in so easily.
She looked away and walked forward.
In an office in a high-rise building, Meng's father looked down at Qi Xu and smiled slightly: "He's quite vigilant."
Qi Xu was preoccupied the whole way and didn't notice anyone ahead of him at all.
Hao Nan, who was directly in front of her, smiled as he watched her about to bump into him.
He didn't stand still and wait to be hit.
She walked forward, head down, lost in thought, while he stepped back, the two of them very close.
As soon as he stops, Qi Xu will immediately bump into his arms.
He could have done that, teased her a little, but he felt it was pointless and unoriginal.
With her mind completely focused on her career, she naturally didn't notice the person in front of her.
To outsiders, the ambiguous atmosphere between the two looked exactly like a young couple flirting and playing around.
A deafening rumble of thunder echoed across the sky, and a sudden downpour began.
Hao Nan immediately opened his umbrella, stepped to her side, tilted the umbrella towards her, and sheltered her completely under it, so that not a single drop of rain fell on her and she was completely clean.
Hao Nan protected her extremely well, not wanting a single drop of rain to fall on her.
Hao Nan himself didn't get wet in the rain; he was wearing a raincoat and walked with her in the pouring rain that evening.
Throughout Hao Nan's arrangements, Qi Xu remained completely unaware, focusing solely on his career and moving forward without any obstacles.
Suddenly a car drove up, and Hao Nan quickly pulled her aside.
That's how she avoided getting splashed by the water from the passing car.
Qi Xu hadn't reacted yet, staring blankly at him.
"Don't space out, or you'll get unlucky." Hao Nan looked into her eyes with a smile.
After saying this, he was stunned, because she had said the same thing before.
Their memories instantly returned to a time when they had just met in high school, a time when they had an experience exactly the same as now.
Previously, it was Qi Xu who pulled him out of his long-standing misunderstanding, but now he found himself unconsciously mimicking her words.
"Why are you here?" Qi Xu's eyes lit up when he saw him.
"Do you want me to come, or not?" Hao Nan looked at her with a hint of provocation.
"You're already here, and you're asking me if I want this or not? You're already here, how could I be so heartless as to just kick you out?" Qi Xu retorted directly.
The two of them looked at each other silently, both with smiles on their faces.
He just stared at her, his eyes overflowing with love, his heart and soul filled with her.
His eyes were filled with tenderness, and she stared at him, momentarily stunned.
Hao Nan looked at her, lowered his head and smiled, the smile never fading. Then he raised his head, his smile even wider than before.
He handed her the umbrella, but she still didn't react.
His gaze moved from her face to her hands hanging at her sides, and he glanced at her again.
He simply grabbed her hand and shoved the umbrella into her grasp.
He then turned his face away awkwardly, the blush on his earlobes spreading quickly, but the smile on his face remained.
Qi Xu looked down at the umbrella in his hand and smiled helplessly: "Hao Nan?"
Her voice became exceptionally gentle, warming his heart.
"W-what's wrong?"
"Want to play a thrilling game?" she asked, looking at him with a smile.
"What game?" He looked into her eyes with some confusion, and a gust of cold wind blew by, causing his body to tremble slightly.
"You tell me first whether you want to play or not."
"I'll play, but you have to tell me what game it is?"
"You've already agreed to play, so don't go back on your word." She immediately became serious. "Take off your clothes."
"What!" Hao Nan was startled by her words and shouted loudly, his fair face instantly turning red.
Anyone who didn't know better would have thought he had a fever. He froze on the spot, completely at a loss.
"I think... it still won't work." He started to stutter.
Seeing his reserved demeanor and flustered expression, Qi Xu burst out laughing.
Upon hearing Qi Xu's laughter, Hao Nan knew he had been tricked again, and his expression towards her clearly showed a hint of anger.
"Do you really joke like this with others so recklessly?"
"You said it was a joke, why are you taking it so seriously?"
Her fearless demeanor ignited a fire within Hao Nan.
"How can you joke like that? Don't you think it's going too far to make a joke like that about a boy?"
“I was talking about raincoats. You’ve misunderstood, and now you’re blaming me.” Qi Xu suddenly thought of something. “Besides, if other people have problems with their thinking, it’s because dirty people see everything as dirty, since they themselves are like that. Birds of a feather flock together.”
After saying that, she regretted it and her eyes darkened.
She shouldn't have said that to him. How could she use such words to talk about her friend and refute him?
She spoke so logically that Hao Nan couldn't find a way to refute her for a moment.
Finally, he took a step back, creating some distance between them, maintaining a distance that was neither too close nor too far.
His actions felt like a wall blocking Qi Xu's heart, one that he couldn't break through or open.
The two remained silent and walked in their own directions.
Without saying goodbye, they went their separate ways and returned to their respective homes.
When Qi Xu got home, he casually threw his bag aside, sat paralyzed on the edge of the bed, looked down at the ground, and looked particularly depressed. There was a hurdle in his heart that he couldn't get over.
But this hurdle is stuck in the middle, neither going up nor down, causing people to feel frustrated and uneasy.
"I'm speechless! What gives you the right?!" Qi Xu tossed and turned on the bed. "Why do you have to be in the middle of this, making things so difficult for me?"
She sat cross-legged on the bed and started acting out a story to herself.
A moment later, standing on the left, he said, "This is your fault. You hurt your friend with your careless words. Go apologize."
A moment later, he stood on the right and said, "What's there to apologize for? It's just a small scuffle, is it worth it? Absolutely not! You are the most important person."
Finally, Qi Xu stood on the right, preferring death to surrender, refusing to compromise himself.
Those who achieve great things do not concern themselves with trifles. How can I let such trivial matters disturb my mind? Absolutely not, Qi Xu kept reminding himself.
At this moment, her career is her primary goal.
After comforting herself, she lay back down in bed and fell soundly asleep.
Meanwhile, Hao Nan returned to his dormitory with a resentful look on his face. His roommates tried to talk to him, but were shut down by his gloomy and numb eyes.
Everyone immediately shut up and went about their own business.
He went back to bed, turned on his phone screen, and stared at it intently.
The screen went off and then on again several times, but he still didn't receive the message he wanted.
Afterwards, he even had the urge to impulsively throw his phone down and smash it, but he managed to restrain himself and control his anger.
Despite his deep dissatisfaction, he had no choice but to draw the curtains.
I pulled the covers over myself, wrapped myself in them, and tried to force myself to forget what had happened that afternoon and fall asleep.
Xu Sheng glanced at him furtively, then immediately huddled together with his other roommates to discuss academic matters.
It was very late when everyone went to bed.
Xu Sheng opened his phone and sent a message to Hao Nan.
"What's wrong? Are you throwing a tantrum again?"
He posted another message: "Be more tolerant of her, that's just her personality, she's very strong-willed."
"It's just my personality; there's nothing I can do about it."
"If you are really tired, take a few days off."
Hao Nan tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. The words spoken around 7 p.m. that afternoon kept echoing in his mind, refusing to leave.
The phone screen lit up, and Hao Nan immediately picked it up to look. It turned out to be a message from Xu Sheng.
He replied with an "Mm" and then turned off his phone.
He lay flat on his back, staring at the ceiling, and even he felt that something was wrong with him, that something was wrong with him.
Suddenly, those words echoed in my ears again: "Besides, if other people have problems with their thinking, it's because dirty people see everything as dirty, because they themselves are like that. Birds of a feather flock together."
“If it were someone else, someone else…” he murmured.
He suddenly realized something, sat up, and exclaimed with a mixture of surprise and delight: "So she was talking about other people, other people, other people!"
“She wasn’t talking about me; what she meant was that if other people had this kind of thinking, then they would have a problem with their thinking.”
"She listened to what I said."
At this moment, Hao Nan finally understood the meaning hidden in Qi Xu's words.
