Chapter 267 Moving in with a cat—truly a flower fairy from the big city.
Shu Xin brought a total of six elven deacons and eight demon deacons with her to Bobomo City this time.
The Tree of Life in front of her consisted of five large, round fruit houses perched on thick branches, thirty-five smaller, round fruit houses hanging among the leaves, six tree houses inside the trunk, and three underground warehouses.
The small fruit houses were naturally prepared for the future flower fairy officials. As for the large fruit houses, one house per elf or demon was obviously not enough, but one house for two people would be more than enough.
Of the five large round fruit houses, one is Shuxin's bedroom and study. Of the remaining four, one round fruit house is used as a butler's bedroom, and the others are used as a meeting room, kitchen, and dining room. The six-story building in the tree trunk is also a butler's bedroom.
Regardless of how the elves and demons assigned rooms, Shu Xin had only one request—the two butlers living in the large round fruit house needed to also serve as cooks.
When Shu Xin asked Mimi Lan which round fruit house she wanted to put her personal belongings in, she learned that Mimi Lan was temporarily staying at the hotel. After giving Mimi Lan a brief introduction to the current structure and functional areas of the Flower Castle, Shu Xin told her that she could choose any small round fruit house to stay in, and that her personal belongings would be temporarily stored in the conference room.
Then Shuxin moved in with her cat.
Because the Tree of Life in Bobomo City grows in the Round Fruit Grove, the surrounding open space is very limited. Even though the Tree of Life has grown tall and large, the large Round Fruit Houses located on its branches can only be described as small houses, and the interior space is naturally not large. They cannot be compared with the Flower Castle in the Land of Sin at all.
But Shu Xin felt there wasn't much of a problem. She packed all her usual bedding and made a simple arrangement for the roundhouse. Looking around, she felt it was quite cozy and comfortable. After all, big houses have their advantages, and small houses have their own charm. It felt like climbing into the closet to play when she was a child. The small space, like a "secret base," gave her a special sense of security.
While Shu Xin was busy expanding the Flower Castle, the elven butlers were busy detoxifying and healing the flower fairies, and the demon butlers were busy hunting. The first day in Bobomo City passed by in such a busy manner.
Waking up to the rising sun the next day, Shu Xin rubbed her eyes and realized she needed a curtain. Yesterday, she had only thought about how nice the view was from higher up, but now she realized that the foliage at the very top was also the sparsest, and the transparent membrane was made of natural plant glass, making it very clear. The direct sunlight woke Shu Xin up abruptly.
As soon as she woke up, Shu Xin got up and even woke up Xi, who was fast asleep next to her. They shared the good times and the bad, and of course, they did the work together!
Shu Xin opened the window and stretched lazily in the refreshing morning breeze: "A new day has begun! A new day of work is about to begin!"
Compared to work, Xi was more interested in breakfast. He leaned over and asked somewhat solicitously, "Honey~ are we having pork soup today?"
The demons who went hunting last night brought back nearly ten wild boars. Shu Xin thought they must have wiped out an entire herd. Because it was getting late, Shu Xin helped to process the boars briefly and then put the meat into the underground warehouse with the ice magic circle drawn on it, without cooking it that day.
The elves and the demons who had returned from hunting discussed and assigned rooms. The two butlers who were good at cooking soup and dishes moved into the Round Fruit House. One of them was an elf and the other was a demon.
Shu Xin never expected that demons could cook. She thought it would be two elves, and this demon was from the newest batch to arrive in the Land of Sin. It's true that the younger generation surpasses the older one!
The breeze carried the aroma of acorn soup, suggesting the butlers had gotten up early to prepare breakfast. It must be acorn soup for breakfast, Shu Xin thought, stroking her chin. "I guess we'll have to wait until tonight. I wonder if wild boar meat is any good..."
In the original world, Shu Xin had only ever eaten domestic pork. Wild boars were protected wild animals, so she had never eaten them. However, many of the older generation had eaten them, with some saying they tasted fishy and tough, while others said they were fresh and delicious. Shu Xin didn't even know what wild boar meat tasted like in the original world, so she had even less to do with what it would taste like in another world.
However, these wild boars are quite potent, so they shouldn't taste too bad. We'll find out by trying them tonight!
After drinking a bowl of acorn soup, eating a moss-covered flatbread and five salted eggs, Shuxin flew out of the Round Fruit House with a full stomach, intending to study how to best deal with the dead insects in the city, only to find that the flower fairies had already begun to work diligently.
With the antidote mushroom and the healing staff working together, the flower fairies recovered from poisoning and injury, and whether they were civilians or warriors.
The wheat outside the city, along with the wheat weevils, was disposed of by the Flower Fairy. The elf deacons said that they would arrange for replanting later. After the flower fairies woke up, they did not go to the wheat field, but instead cleaned up the corpses of fruit weevils in the round fruit grove.
Shu Xin concealed herself and mingled in to observe how the flower fairies dealt with the dead insects scattered everywhere.
Some of the flower fairies were using tools such as twigs, stones, or long-stemmed feathers to neatly knock off and remove the dead insects clinging to the branches and bark.
Another group of flower fairies flew in the air, also holding tools in their hands, and quickly pushed down the dead insects that had not fallen to the ground but were blocked by branches and leaves.
Some of the flower fairies landed on the ground, smashed the dead and stiff insects, and buried them deep in the soil.
Shu Xin was utterly shocked. What were the flower fairies doing?
She asked the Tree of Life directly. It turned out that many of these hard-shelled insects would emerge every year after the harvest month. The flower fairies of Bobomo City were used to it. The reason why this year's situation was so special was because they had encountered an unprecedented drought before, which made the number of hard-shelled insects that emerged even more, to the point of causing an overabundance.
However, the hard-shelled insects did not mutate like the wheat weevils. The flower fairies, who were now free, still handled them in the usual way: they cleaned the hard-shelled insects off the bark and branches, smashed them into pieces, and then turned them into the soil to be used as fertilizer for the round fruit trees.
The only difference is that in previous years, the flower fairies smashed live hard-shelled insects, which would splatter juice everywhere and leave a sticky mess. Not only did their tools get dirty easily, but even the flower fairies with their self-cleaning abilities couldn't stand it, and they had to go to the river to bathe every day. This year, however, they smashed dead hard-shelled insects, which were dry and crisp. They didn't need to wear fruit-membrane masks or take baths, saving them a lot of trouble.
Watching the flower fairies chatting and laughing while smashing insects, Shu Xin couldn't help but feel a deep sense of respect.
She truly is a flower fairy of the big city!
