Chapter 123 Have dinner with me on the first day of the harvest month.
Ananna woke up from her sleep and was somewhat surprised to find that her hair had grown longer. In just one night, it had gone from being shoulder-length to waist-length—not only had it grown longer, but its color had also become brighter.
Holding her hair in her hands, Ananna looked at it with a blank expression. After she was able to eat her fill, her hair started to grow little by little. Although it grew a bit slowly, it was a little longer each day than the day before. But this was the first time it had grown so much. And she hadn't eaten anything extra yesterday.
Could it be because she slept exceptionally well last night? She even dreamt about her mother!
The magic in the air became much more active, and when flying from the second floor to the first floor, Ananna had the illusion that she had been given an acceleration spell.
Ananna scooped a bowl of water from the extra water tank she had dug out and prepared to cook bread and mushroom soup. Harvest month had arrived, so they could no longer go to the bakery to get acorn bread. However, the official had asked them to bring home some very large loaves of bread, so big they almost got stuck in the door!
Thinking of the harvest month, Ananna looked down at her long hair hanging down her chest. Could it be because the harvest month has arrived?
Ananna wasn't sure if that was the reason. She was born in the Land of Sin, and this was her first Harvest Month. But she also knew that all crops would grow and mature rapidly after the Harvest Month, and flower fairies loved to conceive before the Harvest Month. Her hair would grow longer during the Harvest Month, which seemed to be a normal phenomenon.
Strike a flint, Ananna flew to open the cupboard, tore off a small piece from the acorn bread that filled the entire cupboard, shredded it into pieces and threw it into the water. Then she flew to the second floor, took some shredded mushrooms from the cupboard she dug out by the bedside, and threw them into the bowl as well.
The bedside table that Lilia had asked her to dig out earlier actually came in handy. Ananna put the mushroom fragments she had dug out while digging the water tank in the wall into it. However, the bedside table wasn't big enough, so Ananna put the larger pieces of mushroom meat in another cabinet.
When she first moved, Ananna was wondering what all those big cabinets in the Mushroom House were for. There were two big cabinets and one small cabinet on the first floor, and another big cabinet and one small cabinet on the second floor. She could only put her magic wand in them at night. Ananna never imagined that these cabinets were for storing food. The Flower Fairy was so thoughtful!
The large cabinets are now filled with acorn bread, and the small cabinets are filled with mushroom meat. An extra large and deep water storage tank has also been dug on the first floor. Lilia said that many flower fairies dug an extra storage tank while digging the extra water storage tank, and also dug an extra storage tank to store mushroom pieces. As a result, there was a lot more mushroom meat in the end.
However, Lilia said that she had already collected all the mushrooms and sent them to the planting area in the dungeon. Next, she would use these mushrooms to make soup for the demons. It felt like they would be eaten up very soon. Ananna thought to herself as she stirred the bubbling soup. She and Lilia would have to work from morning till night, cooking soup all day long, so that each big guy could get a soup ball.
The flint was unusually hot today, and the bread and mushroom soup was cooked quickly. Ananna extinguished the flint and sipped the soup.
The delicious and rich flavor made Ananna squint her eyes in happiness. Lilia was so clever to be able to cook bread and mushroom soup! After asking Lilia, the cook of the Flower Castle, Memeline, also taught the other flower fairies how to make bread and mushroom soup. Now everyone can cook delicious soup at home! Thinking of this, Ananna felt that the soup in her bowl tasted even better.
After finishing a hearty breakfast, Ananna picked up her magic wand and prepared to head out to work in the dungeon.
As soon as she flew out of the mushroom house, Ananna looked up in surprise. There was a rune plate in the small open space in front of the door, which had been specially treated with reinforcement magic. However, the color of the reinforced soil above her head had obviously changed. Thinking of something, Ananna quickly looked down at the rune plate. Sure enough, the soil where the rune plate was located was also different from yesterday.
Looking back at the mushroom house behind her, Ananna tried knocking on it. The sound was indeed much deeper. It seemed that the arrival of the harvest month had caused the delicious mushrooms to grow a lot overnight. It was quite a strange feeling that the house could grow bigger by itself!
Ananna had previously worried that if she dug mushrooms from the wall every day to make soup, she might eventually hollow out the mushroom wall. Now it seems she doesn't need to worry, as her appetite can't keep up with the growth rate of the delicious mushrooms.
As she channeled magic into the runeboard, the slight dizziness vanished in an instant, and Ananna flew out of the dungeon's massive teleportation array, happily heading towards the open-air kitchen located by the underground lake.
Along the way, Ananna didn't see any of the large demons that she usually saw everywhere. Just as she was wondering about this, she heard a rumbling sound coming from afar. Curious, Ananna sped up and flew over.
Lilia had arrived, and steam was rising from the enormous stove that seemed enormous compared to the size of the flower fairies. To Ananna's great surprise, she also saw Memeline from the Flower Castle next to Lilia—no, not just Memeline, the thick steam obscured the figures of many flower fairies. As Ananna flew closer, she discovered that almost all the servants of the Flower Castle had appeared there.
"Anna, you're here! Come and help!" Lilia called out loudly.
Ananna responded and flew over. She then discovered that several enormous stoves had appeared in the open-air kitchen, and a long row of shelves had been erected. Not only were acorn breads piled up like small mountains, but large chunks of meat covered in frost were also piled up to the brim.
Many flower fairies were carrying meat over and throwing it into the large pot, while others were holding spice jars and tossing spices into the pot. Still others were placing acorn bread on top of several soup pots—Anna didn't even know when a wooden board full of holes had appeared on those pots. The remaining flower fairies were working together in twos and threes to lift large wooden ladles with long handles and scoop out the boiling, reddish-brown foam from the pots and throw it onto the ground to the side.
A gust of wind blew in her face, carrying with it a jar full of salt powder. Just as Ananna caught the salt jar flying towards her, she heard Lilia shout, "Third pot! Add three handfuls of salt!"
Ananna hurriedly flew towards the third pot, where a rumbling sound was still echoing from the swirling steam. After sprinkling three large handfuls of salt into the pot, she couldn't help but look around in the direction of the sound, and unexpectedly saw the Flower Fairy!
The Flower Fairy was waving her magic wand, and the rumbling sound was actually caused by the shifting of the soil, the crushing of stones, and the shaping of the earth and rocks. Under the gentle magical light, a stove automatically and spontaneously assembled and took shape.
"Anna! Sixth pot! Add a can of acorn powder!" Lilia's voice rang out again, raised.
Ananna quickly looked away, flew to the shelf, put the salt powder container back, picked up the acorn powder container, and flew towards the sixth pot.
After building several stoves, even though she wasn't sweating, Shu Xin was so tired she wanted to wipe her sweat. She turned around and counted them, confirming that there were now a total of fifteen large stoves before she could finally take a breath.
Without resting for long, Shu Xin returned to Flower Castle without stopping, retrieved the withered branches of the Tree of Life from her inventory, and began to forge flint. After forging the flint, she delivered it to the underground city, ensuring that all the stoves were simmering with meat broth. Then, Shu Xin returned to the surface, went to the southeast to find Xi, and told him about the food arrangements for the demons, reminding him to have the demons take turns eating. She also mentioned her speculation about the frequency of attacks by magical beasts from the outer continent.
After listening attentively to the flower fairy's explanation, the demon, who had regained his black hair and golden eyes, nodded, indicating that he understood.
Just as Shu Xin was about to leave, her wrist was grabbed. She turned around and saw Xi looking at her with dissatisfaction: "This isn't the first time you've done this, Shu Xin!"
"Huh?" Shu Xin looked confused. "What's wrong?"
The black-haired demon looked furious: "You've taken care of feeding these idiots, and you must have planned the diet for your people too. But what about yourself? It's already noon, you must have woken up in the middle of the night. I ask you, have you eaten a single thing by now? You even came here specifically to remind me to feed these fools, they won't let themselves go hungry! As for you, you're driving me crazy! If you had even had a sip of water, I wouldn't be bothering you now!"
Shu Xin felt a little guilty: "Ah... isn't this the first day of the harvest month... there's so much to do, really so much, I haven't even felt hungry... haha! I'll go eat as soon as I'm done! Really!"
Xi, however, still gripped her wrist tightly, her tone aggressive: "You know this is only the first day of the harvest month, Shushuxin! I don't think you're just busy today; you have so much to do every day! And you go to eat right after you're done? I really doubt whether you can stay sane after all that—your magic is already a bit overused!"
"Do you think I can take your place if you fall? By then, I'll only be spared from devouring all the flower fairies because you're still alive! Or do you think those blockheads under you are reliable? Do you think Nonori can take your place? Huh?" Xi rolled her eyes. "I think your guess makes a lot of sense. There shouldn't be any more monsters from the outer continent coming today. Even if they do, these idle guys under me can handle it."
"Now, come eat with me, Shushuxin!"
