Chapter 144 Linlinte's Mist Disperses: Green Goat Milk, Nut Candy...

Chapter 144 Linlinte's Mist Disperses: Green Goat Milk, Nut Candy...

Linlin bid farewell to her father and brothers, and happily flew to the sheepfold with the neighbor's children.

With a spiritual magic talent inherited from her mother, and both of her older sisters being merchants, Linlinte knew from a young age that she would also become a merchant in the future. However, before becoming a qualified merchant, she needed to live to adulthood. She was five years old this year, and there were still a full twenty years until she turned twenty-five and became an adult.

In Linlinte's memory, her mother and sisters always had stern faces. They would rush home and then rush away again.

Although her mother would show a gentle smile when she saw her or when she saw her, and her older sisters would bring her sweet grass stems and fragrant nectar to eat, Linlinte's exceptional magical talent allowed her to sense their anxiety and unease from a very young age.

That feeling of anxiety was like the mist that spread outside after waking up in the morning. Even if the doors and windows were tightly closed, the cold mist would still seep in quietly and damply through the cracks in the wooden walls and the edges of the straw windows.

Even though Linlinte knew the sun would rise soon and the fog would gradually dissipate, she also knew that by the next morning, the cold, damp fog would quietly touch her ankles again.

Despite Mom and her sisters always working hard outside, and Dad and his brothers always busy in the fields, the food at home was never enough to fill even the small corner of the underground warehouse, and the harvest from the fields was always just enough to barely cover the magic tax.

Linlin really wanted to do something to help her mother and sister, and her father and brother, but she was too young. Even though she could clean all the space stones that her mother and sister were going to take out, and even though she could wash all the fruit that her father and brother were bringing home, she knew very well in her heart that the space stones could be used without cleaning, and the fruit could be eaten without washing. What she did could not be considered helping at all, and she felt like she could do nothing.

Last year, Linlin turned four. She felt like a big girl now, and she thought that when the harvest month came, she would help her father and brothers harvest wheat. So she secretly flew out of the underground warehouse.

Linlinte hadn't expected the fog to be so thick during the harvest month; the house was filled with dense fog, and she couldn't see anything. Even more unexpectedly, when she found the door by memory and flung it open, even thicker fog rushed in from outside.

The thick fog, saturated with moisture, made Linlin feel as if she had fallen into water; it felt heavy, cold, and almost suffocating.

Unable to support herself, Linlin fell directly to the floor. At this moment, she realized that she had done something wrong. She didn't want her father and brother to return home from the fields only to find her dead body. Linlin groped her way to the door, forced herself to close it, and then dragged herself into the underground warehouse, where she lost consciousness.

When Linlinte woke up, she saw her family's smiling faces filled with tears. She later learned that she had fallen ill with a fever that day, and her father had emptied the family's savings to buy her a magic potion that saved her life.

After that, Linlin stopped trying to go out. Instead, her father and brother started taking her out. They flew her into the forest and taught her to identify which fruits were edible and which were poisonous. They flew her to the stream and taught her how to use the wind to fetch water in the most energy-efficient way. They also flew her into the wheat field and peeled unripe but sweet wheat kernels for her to eat.

But whether in the forest, by the water, or in the wheat field, there is always a thick fog everywhere in the early morning. Even though her father and brother would hold Linlinte's hand and lead her to fly forward in the air, the little flower fairy couldn't help but wonder when the fog would finally dissipate.

Even now, when Linlinte is five years old, the thick fog that rises in her hometown in the morning has never dissipated. But Linlinte and her family have moved to a place where there is no fog—the territory of the nobleman her third brother serves, a place called the Land of Sin.

It was also this year that Linlinte met her third brother for the first time. She had known for a long time that it was because of her birth that her third brother left home to become a servant. However, when she had memories, her family had already lost contact with her third brother, and her family members sadly thought that her third brother had passed away.

It's so good that my third brother is still alive!

After reconnecting with her third brother, Linlinte felt that everything that followed would be a good thing.

After arriving in the Land of Sin via a long-distance teleportation array, Linlinte saw the radiant Flower Fairy from afar. She had heard her parents say that the great Flower Fairy was the representative of the Flower Goddess. Linlinte didn't quite understand the meaning of this sentence. The little flower fairy thought that if the Flower Goddess were to appear, she would probably look like the Flower Fairy.

When the harvest month arrives, Linlinte no longer has to hide alone in the dark and cramped underground warehouse, but can live happily with her family in a spacious mushroom house filled with lantern fruits.

Whether it was mushroom soup, acorn soup, or acorn bread, these were all delicious foods that Linlin had never tasted before. Every day when she woke up, she worried that she was daydreaming, but as soon as she thought about it, she realized that she couldn't possibly have such a beautiful dream, and she began to feel happy that her life was even better than a dream.

After the harvest month was over, Linlinte and her family moved into a beautiful and dry wooden house. Her mother and sisters still rushed home and left in a hurry, but their faces were always filled with happy smiles. The anxiety and unease of the past, like the fog of the sinful land, would not appear again.

"Green goat milk is here!"

A loud voice from afar interrupted Linlin's thoughts. She looked up and saw burly demons carrying large wooden buckets, hurrying towards the sheepfold with great speed.

"Let's go, let's go feed the lambs!" Linlin called out to her companions with a smile, increasing the speed of their flight.

Linlin never expected that after moving into the tidy wooden house, they would be able to move into a treehouse as well. Although they moved the wooden house along with it—after all, they couldn't live in a treehouse that was too big for them yet—Linlin had heard her father and brothers discuss this topic, and they all felt that it wouldn't be long before they could live in a treehouse. Linlin thought so too, thinking that the Flower Fairy was so amazing!

However, because Linlinte was too young, her father and brothers were worried that the large demon might accidentally hurt her, so they didn't let the demon live in their treehouse like the neighbors did.

Linlin was a little upset at first, but when she saw the big guy in the treehouse next door accidentally squash the acorn bread that her neighbor aunt had shared with her, she realized that her father and brothers' concerns were valid. She decided to invite the big guy to live in their treehouse when she was a little older...

The big guys are incredibly strong!

With a series of muffled clangs, the demons placed large wooden barrels on the ice at the edge of the sheepfold. The weight of the barrels caused cracks to appear on the once smooth ice. The barrels were filled with a liquid specially made to replace sheep's milk for the little snow sheep. Because this liquid was greenish in color, the demons simply called it green sheep's milk, and now the flower fairies had also started calling it green sheep's milk.

Linlin and the other underage flower fairies flew into the sheep pen first, waking up the little snow sheep who were huddled together, fast asleep. Having already become familiar with the flower fairies' scent, the little snow sheep obediently followed behind them to the fence, where the green sheep milk was placed nearby.

Smelling the scent of green sheep's milk in the air, the little snow sheep bleated regardless of whether they were hungry or not.

The demons then brought the feeding spoons to the flower fairies.

Linlin held up a large wooden spoon that was taller than three of herself combined, flew to the wooden bucket, circled around it to make sure the green goat milk inside was still warm, and then returned to the top of the bucket. With a "hey!" she scooped up a large spoonful of green goat milk.

Before the spoon could even be lifted off the wooden bucket, a little snow sheep eagerly stretched out its fluffy long snout.

After sensing the little snow sheep's emotions and feelings to confirm that it was indeed hungry, Linlin skillfully brought a full spoonful of green sheep milk to the little snow sheep's open mouth. With a flick of her wrist and a forward arm, the green sheep milk was poured into the little snow sheep's mouth without spilling a drop.

She fed the little snow lamb spoonful after spoonful until it was no longer hungry. Even though it was still bleating and begging for food, Linlin stopped feeding it.

These lambs that haven't been weaned yet may have been starved for a period of time, and now they don't know when they're full. Even when they're full, they'll keep asking for milk.

At first, some underage flower fairies couldn't resist feeding the lambs a little too much milk. As a result, the lambs became uncomfortable due to indigestion, arching their backs and kicking their bellies. Later, they went crazy, rolling around on the ground while throwing wind blades and ice spikes. They not only injured themselves but also accidentally hurt several lambs that couldn't dodge in time.

If the demons hadn't reacted quickly and protected the flower fairies, several more would probably have been injured.

The children, who had meant well but caused more harm than good, were all frightened and cried. Even though the Flower Fairy who arrived didn't blame them, and after casting a healing spell on the little snow sheep, she comforted the young flower fairies. That day, she even sent servants to give each child a large piece of sweet pastry covered with jam. The next day, she gave them magical cloaks covered with defensive runes and with warming properties. The little flower fairies still felt guilty. Now, when they were nursing, they were all highly vigilant. No matter how pitifully the little snow sheep cried, they wouldn't give it a single extra drop of green sheep milk.

While the flower fairies were nursing the little snow lambs, the demons took turns making fireballs to protect the young flower fairies from the chill emanating from the freezing magic in the sheepfold. The reason for taking turns was that the demons still couldn't control the toxicity in their magic very well. Once they sensed that the toxicity in their magic was about to spread, they would dispel the fireballs and let the next one take their place.

Once the flower fairies finished feeding the little snow lamb and put the spoons back on the plate held by the demon, their task was complete. They could then go to the cook in the Flower Castle and collect a fragrant and sweet nut candy.

After the flower fairies left, the demons began their work. Some demons crushed the dizziness fruits while casting wind magic to help them knock all the lambs unconscious. Other demons jumped into the sheepfold and began cleaning up the sheep droppings and tidying up the sheep pen. The remaining demons waved the standard magic wands they had been given and cast cleaning magic on each of the little snow lambs.

The sheep pen was cleaned, the hay was laid out again, and the little snow lambs were all clean. The demons gathered the lambs under the sheep pen, and their work was finished.

These little snow sheep are now divided into two groups. Those still nursing are fed green sheep milk, while those that have been weaned are fed processed green fodder directly. The former is naturally more troublesome, but after completing the work, the demons responsible for nursing the little snow sheep can receive nut candy in addition to fruit wine, while the latter only receive fruit wine.

These nut-shaped candies were recently invented by the cooks, and the flower fairies all loved them. Shu Xin wasn't surprised, since she already knew that all the flower fairies were sweet lovers. What shocked Shu Xin was that the demons' love for sweets was almost fanatical. For just one share of these nut-shaped candies, the demons on the training ground would fight every day, and only the final winner could shovel sheep manure and clean the sheepfold for the nursing little snow lambs.

"You guys didn't seem to like the fruit soup I made earlier very much?" Shu Xin couldn't help but ask Xi.

Xi Yi said righteously, "How can they be the same! Fruit soup tastes like fruit soup, but nut candy is truly sweet! My favorite food in the world is nut candy! Of course, it would be even better if the nuts were removed and it was just candy!"

Shu Xin: "...Just a couple of days ago you said your favorite food was mutton soup."

Xi thought for a moment and said, "Lamb soup is delicious too! I think next time I could try cooking nut candies in the lamb soup—"

"No, you don't want to," Shu Xin interrupted him expressionlessly.
