Chapter 253 "Treasure Hunt" Want to join us?
The old demons felt that the new demons were ungrateful for their good fortune, while the new demons felt that the old demons were taking advantage of them and acting innocent. The old demons felt wronged, and the new demons also felt wronged. Every time they met, they wished they could turn their eyes into daggers and their gazes into long arrows, wishing they could stab the other with several bloody holes.
On her day off, Shu Xin wandered around the surface as usual before exploring the underground city. Naturally, she also came to the Salt Lake District to see how the new demons were living.
The five-day work week and two-day weekend system has been in place in this land of sin for a long time.
On weekdays, the flower fairies and demons each perform their duties: those who need to learn to read study diligently, and those who need to work work conscientiously.
On their days off, the flower fairies prefer to spend time with family and friends.
The older folks would go out together to collect various materials, leisurely discussing the latest tips and tricks they had discovered in dyeing magical fabrics and weaving techniques. Sometimes they would invite their neighbors to host small parties, share the delicacies they had recently developed, and sing folk songs from their hometown. The children, on the other hand, preferred to gather together, flying around excitedly, tirelessly "exploring" and "treasure hunting" everywhere.
The vast majority of the old demons prefer to work alone.
Some of them would sleep soundly in their caves; others would spend a lot of time meticulously cleaning and grooming their scales or fur; still others would spend a lot of time repairing their caves and taking stock of their supplies; and of course, some would find a place to start fighting and sparring; the remaining few demons were the lucky ones who had flower fairy friends or relatives, and they would be invited to attend flower fairy gatherings or "adventures".
The new demons, however, have not yet gotten used to the rest system of the Land of Sin.
On weekdays, after breakfast, they have to attend classes for half a day. After finally getting through get out of class, they can have lunch, and then they can go to work. The industrial and planting areas in the Salt Lake District are still under construction. The construction department staff will work with the new demons. With the help of the flower fairies and the guidance of the old demons, this job is not too complicated for the new demons.
When night falls, the flower fairies will return to the surface. The new demons will then be able to say goodbye to the old demons they no longer like, finish their work for the day, have dinner, and go back to their residential area to sleep. That will mark the end of the day.
Although learning to read is painful, the flower fairy teachers are very gentle. Even the smallest progress will be praised with utmost sincerity. If you learn exceptionally well, you can even receive delicious desserts made by the teachers themselves as a reward. The new demons both love and hate going to class.
Although the veteran demon colleagues were all very arrogant, the flower fairy colleagues were very friendly. No matter what they didn't understand, they would explain it in detail. Even if they accidentally made a mistake, when the veteran demons were being sarcastic, the flower fairies would always be the first to comfort and encourage them. If the construction went particularly smoothly, the flower fairies would even sing nice songs happily. The new demons all felt that working was much more interesting than going to class!
But when the days off arrive, there's no need to go to class or work, and the new demons have absolutely no idea what they can do.
Flower fairies would still come to the canteen to serve food to the new demons, but the flower fairies who appeared on rest days were all unfamiliar faces, and their magical aura was much sharper than that of the flower fairies they usually saw. It was only after listening to the old demons chatting with these unfamiliar flower fairies that the new demons learned that these flower fairies who would be on duty on rest days were all warriors.
In the Land of Sin, there is a peculiar phenomenon of magical tides. Along with these tides, many phantom monsters appear. These flower fairy warriors do not perform any work; their daily tasks consist of combat training. When the harvest month arrives with the magical tides, the warriors will team up with the old demons to kill large numbers of attacking phantom monsters.
Compared to ordinary flower fairies, the rest days of the flower fairy warriors are somewhat special. Ordinary flower fairies have two full days off, but the warriors only have one day off in a strict sense. On the other day, they need to help take over some of the work of the flower fairies on leave. This work often cannot be suspended or stopped, such as distributing food to the new demons. If this is stopped for two days, the new demons will go hungry for two days.
However, for the soldiers, not needing to train and simply going out to do some simple work is itself a form of rest.
When Shu Xin arrived in the Salt Lake District, the new demons were waiting for lunch in the canteen.
Looking around, Shu Xin was stunned to see the shadowy figures of demons in almost every canteen. The sun had only just risen, and the new demons probably hadn't even digested their breakfast yet, so why were they already waiting for lunch?
Shu Xin randomly picked a hole in the wall that was closest to her and flew to the entrance to peek inside.
She initially thought the demons were hungry, which was why they were waiting in the cafeteria so early. However, there weren't as many demons in the cafeteria as she had imagined. The demons sitting scattered on the bamboo chairs didn't seem to be starving. Instead, they all looked like they had nothing to do. Rather than waiting for lunch, it would be more accurate to say that they were just sitting there in a daze.
Shu Xin went to look through the other holes in the wall. The number of demons sitting in the different canteens varied. Not all the demons were sitting still; some were standing still, and others were wandering around aimlessly.
As for the classrooms, most of them were empty, without a single person in sight, but there were a couple of demons sitting or lying in a few classrooms.
After touring the Salt Lake District, Shu Xin realized the problem: the new demons had indeed been brought to the Land of Sin by the stream, but they had not actually integrated into the community yet.
Shu Xin couldn't help but ponder what measures to take to help the new demons, flower fairies, and old demons get to know each other as quickly as possible. Perhaps she could hold a second fun sports meet? Perhaps she could build a second amusement park? Perhaps she could redistribute the residential areas and work assignments of the new and old demons?
As Shu Xin was preparing to return to the Flower Castle to jot down her thoughts and then convene a meeting with the administrative officers and service staff on a weekday to discuss them in detail, she suddenly heard the flower fairies' soft voices.
She looked up and saw a group of young flower fairies, not yet adults, appearing on the teleportation array. The colorful, chattering little creatures were like flickering candles suddenly lit in the darkness, and the dark underground cave seemed to have been transformed into a magical secret realm from a fairy tale in an instant.
This is clearly a children's adventure game enthusiast "treasure hunt" in the underground Salt Lake District.
The little flower fairies were all very excited, and they were quite well-equipped. Each of them was wearing a sparkling magic cloak and holding a very convincing "magic wand". Several magic cats followed them. At this moment, the magic cats and their little master opened their eyes wide and looked around curiously.
Mixed among the flower fairy children were two shrunken demons: one was Fifis, who had been dragged there by her sister, and the other was Xiaoshui, who had come to see the children on her own initiative. Neither of them looked very happy.
Phifis was still trying to persuade her sister to go back: "Cecilia, we can play hide-and-seek among the clouds. Didn't you like it yesterday? There's no sun here, it's gloomy and cold. How about we go to the ground, bask in the sun, and eat dried fruit?"
Xiao Shui, who wasn't good with words, quickly chimed in, "Yes, there's no sun, Papawei, let's go back and sunbathe!"
However, none of the flower fairy cubs listened. Papawi shook her head vigorously: "No, no, we won't go back! We'll sunbathe again tomorrow, and play hide-and-seek on the clouds again tomorrow. Today, we're looking for treasure!"
Cecily's face hardened, and she raised her "magic wand" high, taking the lead as she flew out, her voice filled with fervor: "We are warriors who have accepted the Flower Goddess's test, and we will not fear the darkness! Working together, we will surely find the legendary treasure hidden in the deepest part of the darkness! Once we find the treasure, we will receive the Flower Goddess's blessing! Charge! By the Flower Goddess—"
"Charge! By the Goddess of Flora!"
The children followed suit, raising their "magic wands" and striking a majestic pose before bravely rushing out of the teleportation array.
Phifis felt utterly overwhelmed: "Slow down, slow down—"
The little warriors, charging forward, soon encountered their first test on their adventure—new demons heard the commotion and curiously came over.
Upon seeing that they were a group of tiny flower fairies, she immediately froze, not daring to move. The faint magical fluctuations emanating from these little creatures made her feel that even a slightly louder breath could blow them away.
Cecily was also startled by the sudden appearance of the big guy, and almost dropped her "magic wand". The magical aura emanating from him was even stronger and more violent than that of the guards' warriors. She flinched and was about to lead her friends to quickly get around the big guy when he immediately stopped and stood still, looking even more nervous than she was.
Suddenly, Cecily stopped being afraid, especially when she noticed her friends panicking. Papave even clutched the corner of her cloak and trembled slightly. The little flower fairy mustered her courage and raised her voice, shouting:
"Hello! Want to join our treasure hunt? We're searching for a precious treasure hidden deep in the darkness! If you come with us, we'll share the treasure we find!"
Phifis and Xiaoshui naturally noticed the new demon approaching, but seeing that he immediately stopped, they remained silent.
Seeing the new demon making the children tremble with fear, Phifis was about to fly over and drive the guy away when she heard Cecily invite him. She raised her eyebrows and glared at him.
The new demon clan member was originally planning to leave, but she never expected that the little flower fairy in charge would take the initiative to invite her to join.
Although she still didn't understand what kind of treasure the "treasure hunt" was about, let alone what the "precious treasure hidden in the depths of darkness" was, she had already searched the place from top to bottom and inside to outside several times out of boredom. There was absolutely nothing in this place that could be called a "treasure," but under the angry glares of the two old demons opposite her, she straightened her neck and loudly agreed as well:
"Okay! I'll join!"
