Chapter 93 A Clever Relay of Watering: The True Riverside Spirit...
An invisible breeze gently caressed the Flower Fairy's cheek. The Tree of Life's tender and loving silent response still made Shu Xin intuitively feel that she was extremely weak, but the faint yet incredibly strong sense of fatigue had clearly diminished. Could this be related to the changes that had occurred in the Land of Sin? Shu Xin wasn't sure.
The Tree of Life provided extremely specific and detailed answers to Shu Xin's questions, and countless scenes and images appeared directly in Shu Xin's mind.
Shu Xin saw for the first time what a real riverside fairy looked like—
The first image that appeared in her mind was of three river elves. They looked like a combination of flower fairies and flower nymphs. They had the tall and graceful figures of flower fairies, and they also had the colorful eyes and hair of flower fairies. However, they did not have exaggerated antennae and wings of light, and their eyes and hair were not as bright as those of flower fairies. Sure enough, the flower fairies and flower nymphs now were not the real river elves!
Three river elves, draped in light brown cloaks, knelt on one knee beneath the enormous Tree of Life, whose foliage nearly blotted out the entire sky. The pale golden Sunwell beside them emitted a soft light, illuminating the worried expressions on their faces.
Two emerald green leaves drifted down from the sky. The river elf who was kneeling at the front stood up, reached out and caught the two leaves of the Tree of Life that fell one after the other. The next moment, his light brown cloak turned pale blue, and then his figure slowly became transparent and finally disappeared.
The subsequent scene appears to follow the river elf in the blue cloak. It shows magical cities, groups of humans with similar facial features, and river elves, some haggard, some sorrowful, some desperate, some angry, some in pain. Some are in cages, some in basements, some on large beds, some in arenas, some among piles of corpses. Without exception, a green leaf flies into their hands, transforming into a pale blue cloak. The river elves, now draped in the blue cloak, all vanish from their spots.
As time passed, no more river spirits went to the Tree of Life for help. Then one day, a small river spirit, whose breath was also incredibly weak, appeared at the Tree of Life, which had also shrunk. She lay on a pile of ruins, wailing silently. Tears fell onto the scorched ground, leaving no trace. Suddenly, a slightly yellowed leaf drifted down from the sky and landed in front of the river spirit, transforming into a pale blue cloak.
The tiny, barely breathing sprite grabbed the cloak and draped it over herself. She frantically dug into the scorched earth, eventually unearthing something from the charred soil—it must have contained her family or friends, but the Tree of Life could no longer sense their presence.
The scene then shifts to the perspective of a little elf wearing a blue cloak, but the Tree of Life only shows patches of ravaged land and empty, dug-out pits.
Slowly opening her eyes, Shu Xin gazed at the Tree of Life in front of her, its leaves rustling, and remained silent for a long time.
...As expected, the Tree of Life could not sense the existence of the flower fairy slaves. Her previous guess was correct. The Tree of Life did not divide the river spirits into different classes. Whether they were flower fairies or flower elves, they were all river spirits in the Tree of Life's perception. However, the Tree of Life was very likely to sense the existence of external creatures through magic. The flower fairy slaves, whose magic power was too weak, were difficult for the currently extremely weak Tree of Life to sense.
According to the Tree of Life, the blue cloak He initially gave was to help the river elves save their kind. He naturally believes the same about the blue cloak He is giving now. He should be able to know that the flower fairies are divided into commoners and slaves, but He cannot sense the existence of slaves at all. He probably cannot understand why this blue cloak has become a symbol of slave traders...
All I can say is that the current situation is damn logically consistent!
Shu Xin also noticed a very important point: the river elves that appeared in the images provided by the Tree of Life all possessed a beauty that transcended gender. Judging from their faces alone, it was impossible to tell their gender. Even their figures were all tall and slender, showing no signs of sexuality. Considering that the river elves were conceived by the Tree of Life when it was in good condition, Shu Xin reasonably suspected that the real river elves did not have gender distinctions at all!
As she flew toward the Flower Castle, Shu Xin pondered a crucial question: how did the flower fairy commoners become slaves?
If you lose your house and land, do you immediately become a slave? But the flower fairy commoners who have settled in the Land of Sin do not have land, and the flower fairy servants working in the Flower Castle do not have land either. Before Shu Xin came to the Land of Sin, the servants did not even have houses and slept directly in the wheat fields, but they did not become slaves.
Intuition is crucial to this question, but the answer won't be available in the short term. Shu Xin only wants the slaves in the Land of Sin to return to civilian status, not the other way around. After the harvest month, Shu Xin thinks she can go out and see if she can find the answer to this question outside.
Shu Xin glanced casually at the lush flower fields and green spaces below and suddenly stopped, her eyes widening as she looked down.
One after another, flower fairy slaves hovered low in mid-air, forming two long lines. One end of the lines was above the Sun Spring, and the other end was above the newly cultivated fields. They all carried large wooden bowls. Shu Xin watched carefully for a while and quickly understood what they were doing.
The flower fairy slaves scooped water from the Sun Spring using wooden bowls, then passed it from one to another into the air above the fields, where the waiting flower fairy slaves would carry the water to irrigate the crops!
They not only cleverly devised a relay method for passing the wooden bowls, but they also cleverly divided themselves into two teams: one team was responsible for passing the wooden bowls filled with water, and the other team was responsible for passing the empty wooden bowls. This back-and-forth process was both convenient and fast.
After silently observing for a while, Shu Xin thought to herself, "Let's stop making the grass cloak. We also need to postpone the construction of houses for the new batch of flower fairy slaves. The most important thing now is to dig a water channel!"
Thinking of digging irrigation ditches, Shu Xin suddenly had an idea of how to deal with the increasingly strong winds in the Land of Sin—she could dig tunnels!
