Chapter 126 Harvest Month Nears Its End: Feathered Clan, Armored Monster

Chapter 126 Harvest Month Nears Its End: Feathered Clan, Armored Monster

The half-demon's song lingered in the air; it seemed this undead beast shadow was not easy to deal with. Shu Xin raised her voice and called out, "Daisy—"

"Meow—" A sweet meow came from afar.

Shu Xin looked up in a daze and saw a small black dot appear in the clear sky. The black dot grew rapidly and soon turned into a huge black cat.

Flying over to Daisy's side, Shu Xin noticed that the magical cat had grown even bigger. She said helplessly, "Did you sneak out again?"

Daisy twitched her ears as if she hadn't heard anything, flicked her tail, encircled the flower fairy and placed her on her back, then strode off towards the southwest where billowing black mist was rising.

Shu Xin lay on her back on Daisy's back, completely enveloped in the cat's long, thick fur. Gazing up at the vast, blue sky, Shu Xin's feelings were complicated. It seemed that Daisy was learning the bad things instead of the good ones. Perhaps having witnessed too much of her interactions with Xi, Daisy had now adopted Xi's pretentious mannerisms. Just like Xi, Daisy selectively ignored anything she didn't like, anything unpleasant to hear, or anything she didn't want to hear!

After the harvest month began, wave after wave of attacking magical beasts from the outer continent were all dispersed into mist by the demons. Whether it was gray mist or black mist, Daisy was always responsible for cleaning up the battlefield, devouring all the remaining mist. And so she kept eating, and the magical cat's size swelled up like an inflating balloon. Daisy was soon even bigger than the magical cat Shuxin had seen at the magical cat market.

However, the attacks from the outer continent's magical beasts weren't continuous 24 hours a day; there would be intervals of one or two days. Then, during these lulls when no attacks occurred, Daisy would secretly slip away from the Land of Sin. At first, Shu Xin didn't even notice; she was too busy. It wasn't until Xi asked her if she had arranged for the magical cats to go out and rescue other territories that Shu Xin realized what was happening.

Although Daisy's act of sneaking out of the Land of Sin without a word was highly inadvisable, her purpose in going out was to attack and devour the alien monsters that appeared in other regions. Just as Xi thought, she genuinely helped the flower fairies who were being attacked in other territories. Shuxin only reminded her to be careful after the magical cat returned, and didn't say anything more.

As a result, Daisy started going out even more frequently!

Like today, even though the Land of Sin was attacked, when she called for Daisy, this cat came running down from the sky. Could it be that Daisy thought she fell from the sky instead of flying in from outside, thus fooling her into thinking that Daisy hadn't sneaked out? What a "clever" cat...

After passing through the snow-white high wall, the magical cat gave a perfunctory rub against the flower fairy who flew up from its back, and then excitedly meowed before pouncing on the wisps of black mist not far ahead.

Watching the magical cat rush into the spreading black mist with an extremely excited and joyful demeanor, Shu Xin felt that Daisy's meow meant "Dinner's ready, dinner's ready."

The ethereal song that had been echoing in her ears finally stopped. Shu Xin looked up and saw a demon named Da Shui sitting listlessly on the ground, touching his throat. She quickly flew over and cast a healing spell on Da Shui.

Under the healing magic, Da Shui's full chest, which was missing a large patch of feathers and stained with blood, was quickly covered by newly grown, jet-black feathers. However, the new feathers were noticeably less shiny. Shu Xin was about to say a few words of comfort to her when Da Shui's tail curled up, transforming from a fish tail to a snake tail. She then jumped up on the spot, raised her hand, and ripped off a large patch of newly grown feathers, splattering the dripping blood onto Shu Xin's defensive shield.

Before the magical glow on Shu Xin's raised staff had completely dissipated, the feathers in the big water hand transformed into long, sharp, black arrows in the incantation. She swayed her snake tail and moved forward at such a speed that she left a blur. In the blink of an eye, she rushed into the black mist that was beginning to thin under the bites of the magical cat.

Staring at the streaks of purplish-black blood flowing down her defensive shield amidst the shimmering magical light, Shu Xin was speechless for a moment. After a brief silence, she raised her hand to reinforce her shield. Da Shui's blood was clearly highly poisonous, and in just a short while, her shield had been weakened by one layer.

“My lord,” a clear voice rang out from the side, “I see that you have made the Great Flood’s feathers grow back. Can you make my head grow back?”

Shu Xin: "..."

She turned her head stiffly to look at the demon who had spoken.

A demon with a wheat-colored complexion stood not far from the flower fairy, a wisp of scarlet mist swirling around his neck, while the head that should have been on his neck was held in his hand.

Seemingly sensing that Shu Xin was looking over, he quickly raised the head in his hand. The rather bright red curly hair made Shu Xin recognize him as a demon named Shan, one of Xi's subordinates. However, the red curly hair that Shu Xin had seen before was wriggling as if it were alive, but now all the curled hairs were quiet and motionless. Considering that the head had been separated from the body, this situation should be normal - Shu Xin thought with great difficulty.

"I don't want this head anymore. Can you help me grow a new one?" A clear, youthful voice came from the crimson mist.

This fact, to be honest, brought a subtle sense of relief to Shu Xin. If Shan Ti's head could talk, her thought process would probably have been even more difficult...

Thinking of this, Shu Xin couldn't help but glance at the head that Shan was holding in his hand, and then she discovered that the head was also talking—its eyes were wide open and its mouth was opening and closing as if it were shouting, but it couldn't make a sound.

Shu Xin silently withdrew her gaze and heard herself say calmly, "I can try, but I think it's a bit difficult."

Shu Xin then cast a healing spell on the mountain.

When the magical light faded, nothing happened.

A sigh came from the red mist, which then twisted and transformed into a head with a full head of red curly hair. Shan looked down at the head he was holding and couldn't help but sigh again: "It really didn't work..."

With a bright smile, the handsome young man's eyes crinkled into crescents: "Thank you for your help! I'll get to work right away!"

He tossed the extra head he was holding toward the dissipating black mist in the distance and strode over.

With the addition of the magical cat, this wave of alien monsters was quickly dispersed by the demons. Shu Xin did not linger and returned to the fields to continue picking with the flower fairies. It wasn't until she returned to the Flower Castle for dinner that evening that Shu Xin realized she hadn't been able to clearly see what the undead beast that attacked her earlier looked like.

In the end, Shu Xin went to the Tree of Life. After being told that it was the obsession of the Feather Clan, Shu Xin also watched the special version of the "video replay" of the Tree of Life.

In the image reappearing on the Tree of Life, Shu Xin noticed that the black mist was spreading exceptionally fast this time. It was only thanks to Da Shui's song that its advance was greatly slowed. When Shu Xin arrived with the magical cat, Da Shui's song stopped. In that instant, the black mist spread at an astonishing speed; had it not been for the magical cat's whirlwind inhalation, it would likely have engulfed Shu Xin, who was standing beneath the defensive barrier.

This is probably because the Winged Race is naturally skilled at flying. Legend has it that this race is the servant of the Wind God and is born with extremely high talent in wind magic. The first wave of wind fairies and water fairies who arrived were genuinely there to help the River Elves. As for the orcs and goblins, who are not moving very fast, they will arrive in the second wave to investigate the situation. They are likely to have lived near the River Elves' territory. So what about the third wave of Winged Race?

Judging from the scale of the black mist, the number of people sent by the Feather Clan was not small, but in Shu Shuxin's memory, her impression of the Feather Clan was quite bad.

This race loves to build sky cities on the clouds above the Sky Sea to live in. In the magic scroll that Shushuxin saw, the sky city is called "Calamity City" because the construction of the sky city will hinder the normal flow of the Sky Sea. Therefore, after the sky city is completed, the areas that rely on the Sky Sea for rainfall will suffer from drought, while the ground below the Sky Sea will be plunged into long-term torrential rain.

What particularly bothered Shu Xin was the description of the Feathered Clan in the magic scroll in the library: "traitors from the sky."

Putting aside the Winged Race's less-than-environmentally friendly lifestyle, this assessment alone reveals its strong bias. The undead phantoms modeled after the Winged Race, like the Great Horned Deer, are shrouded in black mist, meaning their initial intention was to rescue the River Elves, but they will be recorded as "traitors from the sky." It seems the Winged Race not only failed to help but also betrayed the River Elves.

"Then what will probably appear next is a humanoid monster," Shu Xin speculated.

Shu Xin's guess was correct. From then until the twenty-fifth day of the harvest month, all that appeared were humanoid monsters.

The number of Big-Headed Dress Monsters has become very small, while the number of Multi-Eyed Mage Monsters has increased. Later, a new type of humanoid monster appeared, namely the Armored Monsters with the strongest attack power and the largest number. Shu Xin simply and bluntly calls them Armored Monsters because these humanoid monsters are pairs of humanoid armors carrying various weapons. Their prototypes are obviously the human soldiers who attacked the territory of the River Elves.

Even with over two thousand demons guarding the four directions, a considerable number of armored monsters still infiltrated the Land of Sin. Their numbers were as numerous as the sands of the Land of Sin! The only saving grace was that these armored monsters had a time limit. Even if they couldn't be completely dispersed, they would dissipate on their own. From their appearance to their disappearance, their longest existence would not exceed half an hour.

Shu Xin racked her brains but still couldn't figure out what this would mean in history. She asked the Tree of Life, who replied that it was because the Harvest Month was nearing its end and the magic power was insufficient, making it difficult for past obsessions to persist for long. As for what actually happened in history, the Tree of Life was severely damaged and could not rewind.

Shu Xin had a feeling that it wasn't simply due to the magic of the Harvest Month; she vaguely sensed there was another reason, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it right now. However, that wasn't important. What mattered was that the Harvest Month was almost over!
