Chapter 232 Barbaria's New Life is Happy and Joyful
Barbaria's condition clearly wasn't normal.
The flower fairy, who was there to coordinate with the wind fairy, didn't dare to disturb her at all and followed her to the surface.
Flying out of the teleportation array, the flower fairy saw Barbaria smiling dreamily in the breeze and sunlight, and her heart grew even more apprehensive.
When Barbaria came to her senses, she found herself not at the alchemy workshop, but in the medical room, where a flower fairy doctor in uniform gently guided her to fly into a healing magic circle.
Barbaria: "...I'm not sick or injured, really."
The news that the wind fairies living in the underground city were behaving strangely was reported immediately. Shu Xin was also very nervous after receiving the news. Could it be that fairies also suffer from acclimatization problems?
As she hurried toward the medical room, she used the Tree of Life to check on the other fairies. Only after confirming that all the alien fairies except Barbaria were in good physical and mental health did she breathe a sigh of relief.
Shu Xin did not go directly to see the Wind Fairy. She was worried that her sudden appearance would put pressure on the other party, so she deliberately concealed her presence.
When Shu Xin arrived at the medical room, Barbaria had already been persuaded to fly into the alternate dimension of the healing magic circle.
A soft magical glow enveloped the wind sprite, signifying that healing magic was in effect.
Barbaria looked very embarrassed.
Once on Earth, she felt much better, so she didn't realize she was sick at all. However, the healing magic was undeniably effective, which made the wind sprite quite embarrassed.
She's been eating and drinking well every day for the past few days. Her accommodations are not only free but also very comfortable. The little work she can do, like watering the fields and tending the land, is so simple that anyone could do it. The Land of Sin has done more than enough for her. And what has she done? Right when they need an alchemist, she's ended up in the medical room!
Shu Xin was unaware of the intense inner turmoil the Wind Fairy was experiencing. After visiting Barbaria and confirming that she was alright, Shu Xin went back to her work.
After asking the Tree of Life for details, Shu Xin quickly figured out why Barbareya had entered the medical room.
The name of the Wind Fairy race contains "wind," and this magical race can be said to be a life born in the wind. However, the dungeon is located in an underground cave, where there is no wind at all!
In truth, it was the flower fairies' behavior that misled Shu Xin. Whether it was the flower fairy who initially moved into the underground mushroom house to escape the raging winds of the Land of Sin, or the flower fairy who later moved to the underground city to resist the continuous high temperatures brought by the drought, they were all lively and energetic, showing no signs of discomfort. So Shu Xin didn't think much of it and directly arranged for Barbaria, who couldn't afford a house, to go to the underground city.
But before Shu Xin took advantage of the outbreak of the new fever to unlock the rune chains in the flower fairies' bodies, they were actually all alchemical beings.
Despite being a mutated alchemical life form, the flower fairy is still fundamentally different from the wind fairy and water fairy, who are magical races.
Flower fairy slaves can survive even in deep underground mines, and the former flower fairy slaves of the Land of Sin could even survive by eating stones and dirt...
This is because alchemical life forms can function normally as long as they have magic support, but magical races are obviously not like that. The wind fairy Barbaria became listless and her magical energy became chaotic after living in an underground cave without sunlight or wind for only a few days.
In this magical world, the sunlight, air, water, and breeze are all filled with magic. But just as humans in the original world of Shuxin need to eat to indirectly obtain the energy and nutrients their bodies need from the outside world, the wind fairies and water fairies in this world probably also need to rely on the wind, water, and sunlight to indirectly obtain the magic necessary for survival.
...Next time a foreign fairy joins the Land of Sin, we can't let them stay in the dungeon forever. Shu Xin silently reflected on her actions.
On the other side, after leaving the medical room full of energy, Barbaria quickly threw herself into her alchemical work with great enthusiasm.
Barbaria had assumed that the Land of Sin had other alchemical items that she needed to craft. Even though she was just a novice alchemist, she was still capable of crafting common alchemical items. She never expected that she would actually be asked to craft a spinning machine.
She figured that these ordinary flower fairies who were only responsible for the work probably didn't know that they couldn't make this kind of spinning machine, so she planned to wait until the butler here had time to explain it to them.
However, when Barbaria arrived at the workplace and heard the job requirements, she was surprised to find that her responsibility was not the specific refining process, but rather a more general supervision and inspection.
Inside the spacious and brightly lit workshop, workbenches were neatly arranged. Magical materials, radiating magical energy, were categorized and placed in front of different workbenches. Five to eight flower fairies were on duty in front of each workbench, each concentrating on processing the magical materials in front of them.
The alchemical techniques used by these flower fairies were very basic, and the refining and processing of magical materials were also very simple. For Barbaria, who was a novice alchemist, every step of the flower fairies' operation was so common that she knew it by heart. If there was any part that was not controlled properly, she could detect the abnormality immediately. This was exactly the job she was assigned to. She only needed to go over and guide and correct the flower fairies' operation.
This job is almost as simple as watering a mushroom field!
Barbareya then began a very regular new life.
I was awakened in the morning by the bloody and violent aura emanating from the passing Darkmoon Elves. After tidying up my clothes, I went out and greeted the field keeper who came to work. We watered the mushroom field together, ate breakfast specially provided by the field keeper, and then went to the teleportation circle with the field keeper to leave the dungeon and go to the surface.
Once on the ground, after enjoying the breeze and sunshine, I used the teleportation array again to go to the alchemy workshop, greeted the workers, and started working.
I worked until lunchtime, ate the workshop-provided lunch with the flower fairies, and took a walk in the sun and breeze during the lunch break. After the lunch break, I returned to the workshop to continue working until dinnertime. After dinner, I left the workshop and returned to the dungeon through the teleportation array.
After returning to the dungeon, I watered the mushroom field again with the field keeper who came to work. After saying goodnight to each other, I went into the mushroom house and fell asleep peacefully.
After working diligently for three months, the combined salary from her part-time job as a field keeper and her main job as an alchemist was enough for Barbaria to buy her own bamboo house. She had originally thought it would take her many years to save enough money!
Barbaria was overjoyed to have bought a new house through her hard work.
Unlike the water sprites who are high-ranking priestesses, or Qinqinlar who is a powerful clan leader, or even Pupusop who is a key member of the caravan, she is just an ordinary caravan member. She joined the caravan to run trade routes simply because she couldn't get enough to eat back home.
As for the big and beautiful new house, Barbaria had only seen those noble lords living in the human territory. The palace where the old king of Phygulk lived was even older than the old king himself!
Even though the royal family has done a great deal of work in repairing and maintaining it, the old palace can only be described as grand because they don't have enough money to buy better building materials.
Unlike her newly purchased house, which was brand new and exuded a fresh and pleasant bamboo fragrance, Barbaria still felt that her own snow-white bamboo was exceptionally beautiful, even though the entire giant bamboo plant had many bamboo tube houses.
Flying into the bamboo house, Barbaria was pleasantly surprised to find that it was much larger than she had imagined. Basic miniature garden magic was painted on the floor and ceiling, and there was even a complete set of bamboo furniture!
She wandered around, touching this and looking at that, extremely satisfied with her new house. Even though the bamboo bed was bare and not as soft as a mushroom bed, she felt she slept wonderfully.
The next morning, Barbaria woke up to the sweet aroma of bread and was astonished to find a steaming, round, and large acorn bread on her table!
After moving out of the mushroom house in the underground city, Barbaria naturally lost her part-time job as a field guard. She could no longer eat the breakfasts that were specially provided for field guards. She thought that she would only be able to eat two meals a day from now on, but she never expected that sweet and delicious bread would appear in her house by itself!
So Barbaria happily ate the whole loaf of bread, and although it got a little dry and she choked a bit towards the end, she was still in a good mood.
As Barbaria flew out of the house to go to work, she met the flower fairies who lived in the same giant bamboo building as her. The flower fairies were very friendly to the wind fairy, their new neighbor, and greeted her with smiles.
Thanks to these friendly and lovely neighbors, Barbaria quickly learned to use the flint in her room to make soup instead of just eating dry bread.
With the help of her neighbors, she bought light and soft straw blankets, cool and comfortable waterbeds and pillows at very cheap prices. Of course, she also used her alchemy skills to make some decorative trinkets and gave them to the kind flower fairies.
When Barbaria first arrived in the Land of Sin, she couldn't understand why every flower fairy she met on the road looked so cheerful and carefree. Now she knows why. Living such a happy and carefree life, she would smile from ear to ear every day!
Shuxin has been having a very happy time lately, with one piece of good news after another.
