Chapter 49 It turns out it was a normal phenomenon, Xi is back.

After Shu Xin flew out of the Tree of Life's coverage area, her heart, which had been pounding, calmed down a little. The wind outside had indeed picked up, but it wasn't as strong as she had imagined. The round houses of the flower fairy slaves looked particularly shaky, probably because these little houses were too light.

After carefully sensing the surroundings and using a detection spell, Shu Xin finally determined that the sudden wind in the Land of Sin was not due to the failure of the defensive barrier, but rather because the magical environment within the Land of Sin had changed again—the concentration of magical energy in the air was increasing rapidly!

It was only then that Shu Xin belatedly realized that she had not felt any obvious discomfort after leaving the area covered by the Tree of Life.

The drastically increased concentration of magic disrupted the air, creating unpredictable air currents. While the wind blowing under the Tree of Life remained relatively stable, the winds outside became disorderly and turbulent. The field of bitter wheat planted by the flower fairy slaves was only a small patch, and the wheat was now being blown up and down by the wind. The layers of wheat waves surged northward one moment and rolled southward the next, causing the wheat leaves, along with the round houses hanging on them, to sway and shake back and forth, a sight that was somewhat frightening to behold.

It was still morning, and even the pregnant flower fairy slaves were working. Shu Xin flew over and cast a detection spell again. After confirming that there were no flower fairy slaves in the wheat field, she quickly turned back and flew to the magic workshops that were under construction and those that had already been completed.

After counting the number of flower fairies one by one and confirming that none were missing, Shu Xin breathed a sigh of relief.

At this moment, Shu Xin was very fortunate that the flower fairies were so hardworking. Not a single one of the two hundred slaves was lazy. Otherwise, with such a strong wind, given the tiny size of the flower fairy slaves, Shu Xin was really worried that they would be blown away without a trace...

But what's with this sudden increase in magic concentration? Could it be related to the Harvest Month? As Shu Xin pondered this, she waved her magic wand, using movement magic to transfer all the round houses to the area covered by the Tree of Life.

Thanks to the increased magic in the air, Shu Xin not only moved the little houses of the flower fairy slaves from the bitter wheat field, but also put them back in the flower field of the ground grass exactly as they were. For now, the flower fairy slaves can't wear petal clothes, so let them sleep in the flower bushes for the time being!

After checking several times to make sure there were no omissions, Shu Xin finally relaxed. Having gathered enough petals of the ground-hugging grass, she flew back to the Flower Castle, informed Nonori and Pengpengan, and then continued her research.

After that, the land of sin was often windy, sometimes strong and sometimes weak, and the concentration of magic in the air also fluctuated.

After taking the time to inquire with her two subordinates, Shu Xin learned that this was actually a normal phenomenon that often occurred before the harvest month. In some territories, not only would there be wind and rain, but there would even be fires in some places. There was no pattern to it at all. If the situation was serious, it could even develop into wind disasters, rain disasters, and fires. The flower fairies could only pray for good fortune.

Shu Xin was speechless. Before the harvest month, there would be disasters; during the harvest month, there would be attacks from monsters from other continents; and after the harvest month, taxes had to be paid. This continent also has eighteen months in a year, with one month in the first half, the middle half, and the second half being the harvest month. How come the flower fairies have such a hard life?

Thankfully, female flower fairies are protected by the Flower Goddess when they are pregnant. If they were to suffer from all sorts of negative effects like human women when they become pregnant, flower fairies would probably have gone extinct long ago!

However, only Shu Xin felt that the flower fairies' lives were difficult, while the flower fairies in the Land of Sin felt that their lives were extremely happy.

Especially the flower fairy slaves—

After a day's work, you can fly back to the little house that was moved to the flower field. Above you is no longer a huge, boundless empty sky, but a wooden roof with a rounded curve and delicate texture.

The mournful wind that seemed to cry out was no longer in my ears, but rather the quiet rustling sound of a gentle breeze brushing against soft petals and blades of grass outside the window.

When I lie on the warm, dry wooden bed, my stomach is full, and I no longer feel the excruciating hunger that makes me feel empty and cramped.

When I close my eyes, I can sleep peacefully, instead of worrying about myself and my loved ones, wondering if I will be able to open my eyes before dawn the next day.

All of this is thanks to the kind and compassionate Flower Fairy!

The nobles proclaimed that the sacred and venerable Flower Fairy had come here to purify the curse of the land of sin. Upon seeing the magnificent Flower Fairy, all the flower fairy slaves were willing to believe it, and the Flower Fairy truly transformed the desolate and terrifying land of sin into a vibrant place.

Even though no slave could ever become a commoner again, the slaves deeply believed in the Flower Fairy. They believed that slaves who had lost their magical talents could regain them under the Flower Fairy's blessing, and that even the smallest and most humble slaves would one day become tall and free commoners!

All the flower fairy slaves believed this without a doubt.

When the strongest wind since Shu Xin set up the barrier swept through the land of sin, Xi returned in a carriage.

Even though Shu Xin had cast layers of trigger-based defensive magic on them before they left, the carriage flying towards the Flower Castle against the strong wind still looked somewhat disheveled—the main reason being that the originally snow-white and shiny Pegasus had inexplicably turned grayish.

Xi, still looking annoyed, jumped off the carriage. As soon as he entered the Flower Castle, he flicked his sleeve, and the bright green leaf bundles, clearly made from leaves of the Tree of Life from other territories, fell to the ground with a clatter. He yawned, and without saying a word, he transformed into a little lamb and walked away.

The flower fairy servants who flew into the Flower Castle following Xi all looked shaken. Shu Xin asked them, and sure enough, they had been attacked by monsters from another continent on their way back.

Based solely on the flower fairies' descriptions, the alien beast was gray and black, resembling a thick fog with many legs. Shu Xin found it difficult to imagine what kind of creature it actually was. The pure white Pegasus had turned grayish-brown precisely because it had been pounced upon by that fog-like alien beast.

Shu Xin tried casting a healing spell on the Pegasus, but it had no effect.

Come to think of it, the Pegasus didn't seem injured; it was just looking a bit dejected because its fur had lost its luster. Shu Xin reached out to comfort the listless Pegasus, but before her fingertips even touched its fur, she felt an incredibly cold chill.
