Chapter 27. Ji Qingyu listened quietly...

Ji Qingyu listened quietly to her assistant's report.

That fan was a sasaeng fan of Ji Ran, and had even secretly staked out Ji Ran's house several times. It is said that he even tried to sneak into Ji Ran's house to steal things.

He is an absolute social scum.

Ji Ran's encounter with him was a contest between two scoundrels.

Ji Qingyu's wrist was a little sore. He listened to his assistant report on what this fan had done in the past. The other party had not only sent him harassing messages, but also sent them to many other people who had interacted with Ji Ran.

Ji Qingyu glanced at the explicit and sharp words in the document and found it somewhat laughable; the other party could only fill the void of their presence by using this method.

His wrist, gripping the spoon, throbbed with pain again. The knife in the man's hand gleamed coldly before his eyes, threatening to take his life.

“We’re already going through the legal procedures. We’ve made backups of the video footage from the scene, which we can provide to the police later,” the assistant said. “Should we talk to Ji Ran’s side and see what their attitude is?”

"What are we talking about?" Fu Han raised an eyebrow. "His own fans almost hurt someone. How can he stand idly by? Once things have settled down, we'll issue a statement on social media demanding an apology. If they refuse, we'll upload the video."

Ruthless, absolutely ruthless.

Ji Qingyu silently reached out to stop him, but Fu Han glared at her and pushed her away.

"That fan's wrist was broken, and there was varying degrees of bleeding in his internal organs and soft tissues," the assistant continued. "He's still in the hospital."

“You didn’t hit him hard enough,” Fu Han said, resting his head on his hand and smiling leisurely as he looked at Ji Qingyu. “If you hadn’t stopped him, he would be in the ICU right now.”

"If he needs emergency treatment, you'll be in trouble too," Ji Qingyu said softly. "What if he tries to extort money from you?"

Fu Han teased, "So you're saying you're doing this for my own good? You care about me that much?"

These words made Ji Qingyu almost hallucinate the eighteen-year-old Fu Han. His fingers curled slightly, and he turned his head away from looking at the other person.

Pain was all around him, especially in his wrist. Fu Han was always so carefree and irresponsible, but every time he hurt him repeatedly. He said he cared, but back then, when he needed him the most, Fu Han was the one who pushed him into the fire.

He could still flirt with her here nonchalantly, saying ambiguous things. Fu Han was a seasoned player in love, unlike him, always adept at using techniques to seduce people.

He won't fall for it.

“You too,” Fu Han said, flipping through the documents, “you just casually send people of dubious origin to your side, and you always hide things from me when something happens, you never know what’s important.”

I won't hide it from you now that I'm eighteen.

Ji Qingyu thought to herself.

"Your voice was also damaged intentionally, wasn't it?" The assistant handed over another diagnostic report, even analyzing when the injury occurred. Fu Han scoffed, as if some unpleasant memory had been stirred up. He looked down at Ji Qingyu with an air of superiority, as if he could hold onto Ji Qingyu's weakness forever. "Six years ago, you were injured not long after you dropped out of school. What, did you suffer some kind of retribution?"

Ji Qingyu had no reaction to these words; he accepted them all: "Yes, I've been punished. I'm sorry."

Fu Han was taken aback by Ji Qingyu's seemingly gentle yet veiled attitude. He frowned and remained silent for a long time before launching another attack: "What exactly happened?"

"I was forced to drink alcohol while I was working, and the alcohol was laced with something."

Fu Han didn't believe this nonsense at all. He stared into Ji Qingyu's eyes for a few more seconds. "Back then, you ran away without explaining anything, and even dropped out of school to avoid me. How come you didn't get what you wanted? Speaking of which, you ruined my plans and made me miss Grandpa's funeral. You must have gotten a lot of benefits from that, right?"

"I originally thought you were just bewitched and coveted me too much, but I never expected you would go to this extent for money." After saying this long sentence, Fu Han stared intently at Ji Qingyu in the darkness.

Ji Qingyu didn't speak, remaining quietly and eerily silent for a while: "So that's why you didn't answer my calls back then?"

"I should teach you a lesson eventually." Fu Han sneered. "But in the end, you still won't tell me the truth. You better not let me find out that you're still lying to me. I don't think you want to go through another six years."

Yes, who can go through six years like that again?

Fu Han's casual remark almost erased all his suffering.

Ji Qingyu's heart skipped a beat. He didn't know if Fu Han would believe the reason he had just made up. He was just feeling a little sad because of Fu Han's words. He always forgot that Fu Han was a cold and heartless person. In the end, he was the only one who was feeling suffocated and had no one to confide in.

After explaining the situation to the extreme fans, the assistant left. Ji Qingyu was completely exhausted and lay down with his back to Fu Han.

That cool gaze lingered behind him for an unknown amount of time before finally rising and leaving.

Ji Qingyu slowly opened his eyes, half-asleep and half-awake. He struggled to stop himself from thinking about those unpleasant memories, and finally closed his eyes tightly and fell asleep.

During this period, Fu Han's relationship with him improved, and the number of times they slept together while holding each other gradually increased. Ji Qingyu was always worried that Fu Han might suddenly bite his neck, so he could only turn around and snuggle in his arms to sleep each time.

He has been having recurring dreams lately, in which he keeps trying to call Fu Han but can't get through, and later when he tries to visit Fu Han, he is always turned away.

He had no choice but to wait until the last day the students returned to school, as they always had to go back to take graduation photos on that day.

Summers in Beijing that year were always rainy, and the day students returned to school after the college entrance exam was also a gloomy, rainy day. After the exam, students scattered throughout the city to celebrate. Someone recognized him waiting at the school gate, and the one leading the group was none other than the alpha who had once bullied him.

"Ji Qingyu, how dare you come here?" Alpha, holding an umbrella and a coat draped over his shoulders, grabbed Ji Qingyu's collar and looked her up and down several times. "Look at you, how poor you've become?"

Ji Qingyu didn't say anything, pushed the man's hand away and started walking into the campus. The alpha froze on the spot, angry and annoyed, and rushed over to beat him up.

"I'm here to find someone." Ji Qingyu was pushed next to the security booth, her body pressed against the metal wall. "Let me go!"

"Let go of you, come find Fu Han then, do you think he'll even pay attention to you? To be honest, someone like you is fine for a guy to play around with, do you really think he'd even look at you?" The alpha grabbed Ji Qingyu's collar, "Honestly, you'd be better off with me than letting him play with you."

Ji Qingyu couldn't find anyone that day. Fu Han might have left early in the morning, or he might not have come at all. He tried countless ways to contact him but couldn't. Fu Han was too heartless, not even giving him a chance to explain.

All he could see was Fu Han's indifferent face behind the cold electronic screen, noble and arrogant, constantly fighting in a cruel and bloody world. Those school days were getting further and further away, long gone.

He opened his eyes and realized that there was a world of difference between them.

The person in charge of the stage play went over the progress with him online several times, but finally decided to take an afternoon to come to the theater to discuss it with him in person.

Fu Han wasn't there when they arrived. Ji Qingyu ushered everyone in. The person in charge led a few actors, and a familiar figure appeared from behind them.

Ji Qingyu's eyes lit up: "Brother Ma, what brings you here?"

"I was just worried about you, wasn't I?" Ma Yu smiled. He was wearing a white shirt, simple jeans, a jacket, and a gold chain. He put his arm around Ma Yu's shoulder and joked with him. "Don't you like freshly roasted chestnuts? I brought them for you specially."

Ji Qingyu's eyes lit up.

They went over the details on the tatami mat on one side of the living room. Several actors read the script, while Ji Qingyu and Ma Yu peeled chestnuts on the side. When Ma Yu noticed that Ji Qingyu's wrist was still wrapped in gauze and she couldn't peel a single chestnut for a long time, she quickly snatched the chestnut away from her.

"Go away, what's it to you? Do you think you're still a beta? You don't care about anything anymore. You're married now, you've differentiated into an omega and become a wife." Ma Yu didn't want Ji Qingyu to do anything, so she peeled all the chestnuts herself.

The script reading went smoothly. Ji Qingyu followed the plot and worked with them on the rhythm and emotions, repeatedly revising the parts that didn't go smoothly with the director. By dusk, everything was finally settled.

The group collapsed onto the tatami mats, exhausted. Ji Qingyu wrote with a pen while laughing, and the person in charge laughed heartily, saying that he hadn't misjudged her; Ji Qingyu was indeed exceptionally talented in music.

Little Ma stood up and stretched. "Qingyu, I'll cook you two home-style dishes. Haven't had them in a long time, have you?"

It has indeed been a long time since I've eaten this.

Everyone else left, leaving only Ma Yu and him. Ji Qingyu wanted to help him out, but Ma Yu refused. He shredded the green peppers and skillfully made a stir-fried pork with chili peppers, then made shiitake mushrooms and bok choy, and also made fish ball soup.

The food smelled delicious when it was served, and Ji Qingyu's appetite was whetted. She picked up her chopsticks and started eating with gusto. Ma Yu watched from the side and sighed, "Qingyu, you're not exactly a person with great ambitions. How did you end up getting involved with that guy? I saw it online, and there's this whole love triangle thing everywhere. So many people are criticizing you. You've even been threatened by Ji Ran's fans because of this. That's a matter of life and death! Your safety!"

“And, and…” Ma Yu frowned, “Aren’t you and him enemies? I remember you scolded him to me before, saying he was violent and threatened and scared you.”

Ji Qingyu lowered his head and ate the green peppers on his plate. He had already finished the meat, but he didn't want to leave even the green peppers behind: "That was when we first met. Actually, he's a pretty good person now."

"Not bad?" Ma Yu was a little worried. He sighed as he looked at the scars on Ji Qingyu's wrist and the back of her neck. He was really heartbroken. "I haven't told you yet, but I've seen this guy several times. He came to your building and our market looking for you before. The way he acted, I thought he was looking for revenge. Don't think he's a good person."

Ji Qingyu was stunned, frowned, and looked at Ma Yu with some confusion: "He came to see me, when?"

“It was during the time when your family had that accident, a very troubled period. I was worried that something might happen to you, so I often went to bring you food. I ran into him several times, but he never came in. He just stood there like a ghost. I thought he was the one who caused all those things…” Ma Yu wanted to say more, but she noticed that Ji Qingyu’s expression was obviously off.

It seemed like a puzzled expression, or perhaps an incredulous one.

He wanted to say a few more words when a soft laugh suddenly came from behind him.

Fu Han had returned at some point and was leaning against the entrance hall, watching them with a relaxed and languid air, his mood unreadable.
