Chapter 40. Even when leaving...

Chapter 40. Even when leaving...

It was late at night when I left.

Ji Qingyu slowly took his suitcase away. His clothes were all in the closet, and there didn't seem to be many. Fu Han hugged his waist, and Ji Qingyu's gentle movements still caught his attention.

"Where to?"

"Can't sleep? Go get a glass of water."

Fu Han's voice was a little hoarse. He released Ji Qingyu's hand and made room for her next to him: "Come back quickly."

Ji Qingyu packed his suitcase. Besides the clothes he brought, there were many new clothes for him at home. Fu Han always had people send a lot of clothes home.

Apart from that, there is nothing else.

Ji Qingyu felt that this day would inevitably come between him and Fu Han. Whether there were children or misunderstandings, perhaps it was always like this from the very beginning, from the moment he learned of Fu Han's cynical attitude towards relationships.

He once thought that as long as he had a place, anywhere, he could stay, survive, and earn some money, that would be enough.

However, once people obtain something that appears to be happiness, they can't help but want more, only to find that they are about to fall as they move forward.

The alpha breathed with a strong presence, her arms long and her figure beautiful. Ji Qingyu took one last look, then silently left without disturbing anyone.

Ma Yu was already waiting at the agreed-upon corner. There were no security cameras here, and Ji Qingyu had spent a long time scouting the area. They arrived in Jiangcheng noon the following day.

Jiangcheng is a warm water town. A drama and music festival will be held here soon. Compared to Beijing, the cultural atmosphere here is much richer. Yu Yue's new stage play will also be touring here.

Halfway there, Fu Han realized Ji Qingyu wasn't there, and he called. Ji Qingyu hesitated for a few seconds, then, almost as if possessed, answered the phone.

"Where did you go?" Fu Han's voice was somewhat deep. "Why is your luggage missing?"

It must have been difficult for Fu Han, as he somehow had time to pay attention to his things. Ji Qingyu said calmly, "I'm leaving."

"What do you mean? Where are you going? Did the Ji family threaten you?" Fu Han's questions came out in quick succession, his voice tense. "Come back. How many more times do you want to lie to me?"

“Fu Han.” Ji Qingyu looked at the scenery rushing past the window. Ma Yu was quiet as if she didn’t exist. Ji Qingyu clenched her hands tightly and took two deep breaths. “I have never lied to you, and I have never owed you anything.”

"What else do you want?" Fu Han's voice was deeper than ever before, filled with a chilling anger. "Didn't we agree on this yesterday? Why do you always like to do this kind of thing?"

“What kind of things did I do? I didn’t do those things before. I’ve said it so many times, but you just won’t believe me.” For some reason, Ji Qingyu’s eyes reddened when she said these words. “If you say that I lied to you by leaving without saying goodbye this time, then I apologize to you, Fu Han. I did hide a lot of things from you during this time, but I didn’t do it on purpose.”

There was a long silence on the other side, followed by the sound of something breaking. Things were smashed one after another. Ji Qingyu thought, "There were several bottles of champagne left over from yesterday. What a pity."

Ma Yu handed him a pack of tissues, and only then did he realize he was crying.

"...If you want to leave so badly, why did you marry me in the first place? Wasn't this what you've always wanted?" Fu Han's voice trembled.

"I never had any expectations."

"Were all those times you said you loved me a lie?"

Ji Qingyu clenched her fists tightly: "Yes."

"So you planned to leave all along." Fu Han's voice calmed down. "Very well, just don't let me find you."

After a moment of silence, Ji Qingyu was about to hang up when Fu Han suddenly asked, "Since you lied to me, why didn't you keep lying?"

"There's no reason anymore. To tell you the truth, I married you because Ji Ran forced me to, and now that reason for forcing me... has disappeared."

There was no sound from that side.

"So you were lying to me from the beginning?"

"right."

Is there someone else next to you?

"Hmm." Ji Qingyu didn't know why, probably to make Fu Han feel bad, she suddenly blurted out, "It's the alpha I love very much, I was pregnant with his child."

“Originally, it wouldn’t have been a problem to live with you, but then I got pregnant, so I eloped with him.”

"Isn't the alpha you love Ma Yu?"

"...What?" This time it was Ji Qingyu's turn to be surprised.

“He was your childhood sweetheart, and he took great care of you. After you played me in high school, weren’t you always with him?” Fu Han said. “I saw it all. He hugged you, and he stayed at your house from morning till night every day. I had someone check, and Ma Yu’s car is gone. He canceled the lease. Where did you two go?”

“When you were with me, he could come and go from our house. If anything happened, he could find you immediately, even before I could.”

"Fu Han, are you out of your mind?" Ji Qingyu found it extremely absurd. If he wanted to be with Ma Yu, he would have been together long ago. He should have liked her since he was a teenager. What does it have to do with Fu Han?

There was a pause on the other end, followed by, "Your voice was injured intentionally. Tell me, was it done by someone from the Ji family? Come back first and explain everything clearly. Why did you just leave like that? Why didn't you tell me anything?"

"I have the right to decide who I'm with. Our marriage was arranged, and there was never any affection between us. You've had one omega after another by your side. What right do you have to talk about me? Do you think you're the only one who has feelings, the only one who feels pain and sadness? Why is your grievance considered a grievance, while mine is insignificant? Why does whatever you say count? You can get angry, you can decide whether to forgive or not. Do you think you're an emperor granting amnesty to the world? Whoever you like has to worship you and obey your every whim?"

Fu Han was very annoyed, and his tone became urgent: "I can change it, you come back first."

Ji Qingyu sighed: "Many people like you, and many people are willing to have your children. Go find them."

“My child is mine alone, don’t even think about touching him.”

Fu Han paused, then suddenly asked abruptly, "Ji Qingyu, whose child is this?"

Ji Qingyu paused, realizing that if she continued, Fu Han might notice something was wrong, so she quickly hung up the phone.

Ma Yu handed Ji Qingyu another tissue, then turned into the nearest rest stop. Ji Qingyu washed her face, tied her hair up, and bought a glass of ice water to reduce the swelling around her eyes.

As Ma Yu walked out, she stood by the car, lost in thought. When she saw Ji Qingyu come out, she said somewhat awkwardly, "Qingyu, I suddenly remembered something. Back then, I ran into Fu Han several times, and I thought he was there for revenge. He was so scary, so I once tried to chase him away."

Ma Yu scratched her head: "He asked me what our relationship was, and I said I was his boyfriend. I didn't mean to, I just wanted to scare him away..."

Ji Qingyu paused for a moment: "It's not your fault. Brother Ma, you got involved in this, so I should be the one apologizing."

The pickup truck wobbled along, and after a night's journey, it finally arrived in Jiangcheng in the afternoon. Beijing and Jiangcheng were worlds apart. Ji Qingyu broke the SIM card and threw it into the stream in Jiangcheng.

Jiangcheng is a beautiful place with green bricks and tiles. The wind feels warm on your face. Even in winter, you don't need to wear a cotton coat; just a thin jacket is enough.

After they arrived, they first ate the local specialty noodles. Ma Yu had already found a place to stay. The guesthouse she rented for Ji Qingyu was right next to the theater. It was clean and beautiful. Ji Qingyu put away her few belongings, went out to buy some daily necessities, and then contacted Yu Yue.

They had arrived long ago, and the new script had been sent to Ji Qingyu. He had received many script offers, but he still preferred the one Yu Yue had invited him to. The workload wasn't heavy, and the time was flexible, making it perfect for him.

Jiangcheng is different from Beijing. It is a water town with a mild climate, where people eat soup noodles, and the pastries are exquisite and beautiful. The local customs are also gentle. Beijing's climate is not good. Dust storms and dryness often occur. Ji Qingyu remembers that once when he was working, his bicycle was covered with yellow sand.

"Qingyu, I've gone to talk to the boss about buying land. I know this boss well; he's the one who leased land in Beijing before. If you'd like to lease land in the future, just contact me. We'll get together again later."

Ji Qingyu nodded: "Brother Ma, thank you. I'll treat you to dinner later."

Ma Yu helped Ji Qingyu carry the newly bought bedding and plants into the house, waved goodbye and left. The house also had a small courtyard, and if there was another opportunity in the future, Ji Qingyu even thought about contacting Luo Sheng to come and visit him.

He moved a chair, lay down on it, slowly closed his eyes, and quietly spaced out. He rarely felt so calm, not thinking about anything. He didn't know how much time had passed until he got hungry, at which point he stood up, intending to walk along the cobblestone path and go out to buy some food.

He found a noodle shop with many customers. While eating, he opened his phone, intending to cancel his WeChat account and switch to a new one, but saw many messages popping up.

Luo Sheng and Nannan were both asking him if he was alright, so it seemed that Fu Han had come looking for them.

Ji Qingyu replied to each of them that everything was fine and there was no need to worry, then left them the new number and repeatedly instructed them not to tell Fu Han.

Then he looked at the account that had sent him the most messages and was a little surprised. How could it have sent so many messages? Ji Qingyu didn't click on the red dot. After a moment's hesitation, she simply deleted the account.

The owner brought the noodles to the table, and he lowered his head to eat them.

Fortunately, everything is going well, not as difficult as I had imagined.

The surrounding diners were talking: "Is he crazy? I heard he's sued for assault again."

"What will be hurt?"

"His wife's voice, they say Ji Ran poisoned her, and those songs too, they were all written by his wife."

"How could that be?"

"Why not? Go and see for yourself. The authorities have released all the evidence."

Luo Sheng called: "Xiaoyu, where's your mother? What will happen to her now that you're gone? Do you need me to help take care of her? And what about your child..."

Ji Qingyu finished the last noodle and said, "Uncle, don't worry, I'm fine now, and the child is fine too. My mother... she has passed away."

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, followed by the sound of a cup being knocked over. After a long while, Luo Sheng said, "Xiao Yu, do you want me to come over and keep you company?"

"No need, Uncle, it's great here, and I'm great too. Everything is going well for me right now. Come visit me whenever you have time; I'll miss you."

He doesn't ask for much, and he's not very greedy; a bowl of delicious noodles is enough to fill him up.

He put down his chopsticks and walked out. On the way back, he chatted with Luo Sheng all the way. As the evening breeze blew, he suddenly realized that there had always been someone who cared about him. Did this mean that he wasn't as bad as those people said? Perhaps he had done enough, or perhaps he wasn't so bad after all?
