at the same time.
More than twenty bonfires were lit on the sports field inside the town government building.
Nearly two hundred people were crammed here, making it a bit crowded.
But it also makes this place feel more cozy.
The aroma of the dog meat hot pot has already made everyone's mouth water.
The various snacks and drinks piled up around the campfire dazzled the newly recruited survivors.
"My God, why does the dog meat in this smell so good?"
"A dog that big must smell delicious! You wouldn't believe it, I was stunned when they dragged that dog over! How could there be such a big dog!"
"We're in luck! With this base, we'll never go hungry again."
"Of course, taking over such a large grain depot means there are probably hundreds of tons of grain inside."
"With so much food, we shouldn't have to go hungry anymore..."
Beside another campfire, a very thin woman whispered to her companion, "How can this base be so generous? Apart from dog meat, everything else is unlimited, and we can eat as much as we want?"
Her eyes remained fixed on the dog meat bubbling in the pot.
In her hands, she held a large bowl filled to the brim with rice.
As soon as the person in charge gives the order to start eating, she will grab the meat she wants as quickly as possible.
"I don't know, but compared to Wei Chenghu's place, this place is simply paradise."
Another woman, similarly thin, was also holding a large bowl of rice, her eyes fixed on the dog meat and cured meat in the big pot.
Before the apocalypse, she was a staunch member of the group that refused to eat dog meat.
But at that moment, she wished she could stuff all the fresh dog meat in the pot into her stomach.
It smells so good and looks so tempting.
Another thin woman wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth and said sarcastically, "Yeah, look at those vixens by the campfire across the way. When they were with Wei Chenghu, they weren't hungry, but now they're all drooling over this meat. It's hilarious."
"Damn it! Stop talking, it'll be terrible if they hear us. I heard they've already been forgiven by Zeng Ning. After all, they've been with Zeng Ning for so long, who knows if he'll consider them friends in the future."
“Zeng Ning is really lucky. I’ve always felt that she wasn’t someone who was unlucky. Yesterday, a group of soldiers drove her to her man’s place. It was so impressive.”
"Sigh, there's no use in being envious. In this damned apocalypse, just being able to fill your stomach and survive is enough."
"This wish should be fulfilled soon. I see that our base treats the survivors very well, and there is no shortage of food."
"Haha, I hope so..."
All the survivors were chatting and laughing happily, waiting for the person in charge to tell them that it was time to eat.
Old Hei kept looking at the watch in his hand.
At exactly eight o'clock, he picked up the megaphone and shouted, "The bonfire party officially begins!"
Since it was said that the bonfire party would start at 8 o'clock, Lao Hei would time it perfectly.
He always completes his tasks with such meticulous care.
With Lao Hei's command.
The stadium became a sea of joy.
Looking at the survivors' joyful smiles, even Old Hei's usually expressionless black face broke into a smile.
He enjoyed seeing the survivors' genuine laughter.
Chen Weimin walked over to Lao Hei with two glasses of wine and said with a smile, "Captain Hei, let's have a drink. The leader has given the order that we can drink tonight."
Old Hei shook his head and said, "Captain Chen, you drink. Since the leader put me in charge here, I can't afford to make any mistakes. When we get back to base, I'll have a good drink with you!"
Chen Weimin laughed and said, "Haha, Captain Hei, that's the only thing I admire about you. I'll drink with the others tonight."
Old Hei nodded, then led several team members to continue the patrol.
A beautiful woman with long, wavy hair walked up to Lao Hei with two glasses of red wine and said in a sweet voice, "Sir, my name is Chen Lin. I wonder if I could have a drink with you to thank you for rescuing us from Wei Chenghu?"
Under the interplay of lights and firelight, this curvaceous woman exuded captivating charm.
The officers on duty behind Lao Hei were completely stunned.
Old Hei said sullenly, "I'm on duty tonight, so I won't drink."
Chen Lin glanced at the other field team members, then focused her gaze on Lao Hei, and said affectionately, "Sir, please have just a little bit of a drink. You remind me of an older brother I used to know. Seeing you makes me feel so close to you. I was so happy last night to be rescued by you all."
Old Hei sized up the woman and suddenly asked, "You were with Miss Zeng Ning, weren't you? Have you ever bullied her?"
Chen Lin quickly shook her head and said firmly, "No! I have never bullied her."
Old Hei nodded and said in a low voice, "I won't drink tonight, maybe later."
Chen Lin's eyes lit up, and she quickly said, "Then I'll drink tonight as a sign of respect. Thank you, sir."
After saying that, Chen Lin drank the wine in her glass in one gulp.
Then, she looked at Old Black with a radiant smile.
Old Hei smiled slightly with his usually serious black face, and then led his team to continue their patrol.
Chen Lin gazed at Lao Hei's retreating figure, a resolute glint in her eyes.
Back by the campfire, a woman teased, "Chen Lin, looking for a backer again? How about this time?"
Chen Lin seemed not to hear the sarcasm in the woman's words and laughed, "I didn't seek any backers, I just went to thank my superior."
"Haha, you said the same thing when you were trying to curry favor with Wei Chenghu."
Chen Lin looked up at the woman and smiled, saying, "Tang Li, I know what you want to say. I may be cheap, but I just want to live a good life. I flattered Wei Chenghu, but I never bullied anyone. You bullied Xiao Ning quite a lot. If I go and talk to the superior, what will you do?"
