After hearing Jiang Wu's introduction, everyone was stunned.
Even Mi Qingying was moved at this moment, staring blankly at Jiang Wu.
The air seemed to freeze instantly, with only a gentle breeze blowing, stirring up dust that swirled around everyone's feet.
The men beside him stared blankly at Jiang Wu, then looked at each other, their eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
They struggled desperately in this copper city, fighting to the death against zombies every day for a bite to eat and a safe place to live, never imagining that there were such powerful beings outside.
Zhu Lin's eyes widened, his mouth slightly agape, unable to close for a long time.
He had been roaming Tongcheng for almost a year and a half, and considered himself to have seen his share of ups and downs. He led over a hundred brothers and was considered a big shot in this apocalypse.
Compared to Jiang Wu, he's nothing but a small fry.
500,000 survivors, nearly 30,000 fully armed soldiers, and tanks and armored vehicles were all present.
What an enormous force this is!
He couldn't even imagine that such a powerful army could exist in the apocalypse!
I can't believe that the leader of such a powerful force is standing right in front of me!
Even Mi Qingying, who was usually calm and composed, was stunned; her usually cool eyes were now filled with astonishment.
A dozen seconds later, Zhu Lin came to his senses and chuckled dryly, "Brother, you must be joking. 500,000 survivors and tens of thousands of soldiers, how is that possible?"
Jiang Wu was too lazy to explain and said indifferently, "My army is outside the city, preparing to retake this copper city. However, we stopped the attack because we noticed something strange. I also came in here specifically to ask you survivors for clarification."
Zhu Lin stared blankly at Jiang Wu, then cautiously asked, "Brother Jiang, do you mean your army will soon recapture this copper city?"
Jiang Wu nodded and asked, "Could you help me contact other forces? I just want to find out what exactly happened in this copper city. After that, you just need to hide and wait for us to reclaim the copper city."
Zhu Lin and his men all looked at each other or whispered among themselves, discussing whether what Jiang Wu said was true or false.
This left Jiang Wu speechless.
But he couldn't blame them. Anyone who had been trapped in this zombie-infested city for nearly a year and a half would suddenly learn that they were about to be rescued.
The first reaction is probably curiosity about whether it's true or false.
Just then, Mi Qingying, who was standing next to her, suddenly said, "If we're talking about strange things, I might have some clues."
Jiang Wu was taken aback and asked curiously, "What clue?"
Mi Qingying said calmly, "I once went to a complex mine, wondering where those mines led. Deep inside, I heard a very strange howl from a monster. The sound was very loud and deep, unlike anything an ordinary creature could make."
"I originally wanted to follow the sound to take a look, but in a huge mine, I found a large number of advanced evolved zombies, densely packed together."
"If it weren't for my speed and the fact that my clothes were covered in zombie blood, which could interfere with the sense of smell of high-speed zombies to some extent, I would have been eaten by them back then."
"I wonder if this counts as the strange thing you mentioned?"
At this point, Mi Qingying's eyes had returned to their usual calm and serene state.
Jiang Wu asked with great interest, "Where is that mine? Can you take me to see it?"
Zhu Lin and the other survivors were all stunned.
I've already said there are a lot of advanced evolved zombies inside, why would we go there?
Isn't this just suicide?
Mi Qingying remained silent for several seconds before asking calmly, "Is what you just said true? Are your men really going to come and retake Tongcheng?"
Jiang Wu nodded and said, "I don't like to lie, trust me. Also, if you take me to that mine, I can protect your safety."
Mi Qingying said calmly, "I'll take you there. Let's go."
After saying that, Mi Qingying looked at Zhu Lin and said coldly, "Zhu Lin, for the sake of knowing each other for a year, if I die, please help take care of the people I'm protecting."
Zhu Lin licked his lips and said honestly, "Don't count on me. I'm only interested in you. I don't care about anyone else. They'll only be a burden. In this city, only a few people like you are willing to take care of these burdens."
Mi Qingying glared coldly at Zhu Lin.
Jiang Wu glanced at Mi Qingying thoughtfully and smiled, "Don't worry, let them hide well. Once we figure out the source of the strangeness here, my warriors will begin the siege."
Mi Qingying glanced at Jiang Wu's clothes and said indifferently, "You'd better smear zombie blood on your clothes. Also, we're going to crawl through the sewers later."
Jiang Wu asked, "Is it far?"
Mi Qingying's face was devoid of any emotion as she coldly replied, "It's more than ten kilometers."
Jiang Wu nodded, tilted his head slightly, and whistled a clear, crisp tune.
The sound pierced the silence and echoed in everyone's ears.
Zhu Lin and the other survivors looked at each other, their faces full of confusion, not understanding what this meant.
Just moments later, they were speechless with astonishment at the sight before them.
A gigantic, golden bird, seemingly straight out of mythology, appeared, its wingspan estimated to be at least 30 meters. With a whooshing sound, it suddenly landed not far away.
The gale it brought with it was like a miniature tornado, swirling sand and gravel into the air. People lost their footing, instinctively raising their hands to shield themselves, and staggering as they tried to escape, thinking it was another apocalyptic disaster.
But just as they were still in shock, they saw Jiang Wu move nimbly, taking a few steps as if walking on flat ground to reach the giant bird's side, and then lightly leaping onto its back.
Only then did they realize that this giant golden bird, which looked like something out of a myth, was actually Jiang Wu's mount!
This is outrageous!
Jiang Wu looked down at Mi Qingying and smiled, "Come on up, we'll fly directly there, you tell me the direction."
Mi Qingying's eyes, which had been calm and still, were now filled with astonishment, and she stared blankly at the giant golden bird and Jiang Wu on its back.
In the long years of struggling to survive in this apocalypse, she has witnessed all kinds of terrifying and bloody scenes, the death of her relatives, the ferocity of zombies, and the cruelty of death, which have long since built a hard defense line in her heart.
But what she saw before her eyes far exceeded her expectations.
Seeing Mi Qingying standing there in a daze, Jiang Wu called out again, "Don't worry, it's very docile and safe."
Mi Qingying snapped out of her daze, glanced at Jiang Wu with a complicated expression, then took a deep breath, sprinted forward, and used the momentum to leap onto the bird's back.
