The only one who remained relatively calm was Li Zecheng. Apart from the admiration in his eyes when he looked at Jiang Wu, he spoke in a neither humble nor arrogant tone.
Soon, Li Zecheng personally led four team members, driving a truck loaded with rice and snacks slowly towards the camp outside the tunnel.
The truck eventually stopped ten meters from the camp entrance.
Then the rear of the vehicle was turned towards the campsite, revealing the rice and snacks inside.
With everything ready, Li Zecheng grabbed a megaphone and shouted, "Is anyone in the tunnel? We're here on orders from our superiors to collect steel bars, and we've prepared a truckload of food in exchange for it."
The sound traveled very far.
A few moments later, several burly men emerged from the tunnel.
When they saw Li Zecheng and several team members dressed as officers and soldiers, they were all taken aback.
When they saw the food and candy on the military trucks, their eyes widened in surprise.
Two of the burly men immediately ran into the tunnel.
Another burly man shouted, "Are you government soldiers? Didn't you say all the government soldiers were gone?"
Li Zecheng stood straight and said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "You can call us officers and soldiers, or you can call us survivors. We have no ill intentions. We are just here on orders from our superiors to exchange for steel bars. Otherwise, we could have just stormed into your camp."
The burly man looked at the food on the truck, swallowed hard, and said, "Wait a moment, our boss will be here soon."
Li Zecheng nodded, took a bag of sausages from the truck and tossed it to the burly man without saying anything more.
Even after receiving the sausage, the burly man dared not eat it directly.
However, his eyes were full of gratitude when he looked at Li Zecheng.
Not long after.
A middle-aged man wearing a stab-proof vest walked out of the tunnel.
He looked somewhat handsome, but he was at least 40 years old, which was considered old in this post-apocalyptic world.
He was followed by more than a dozen burly men in engineering uniforms.
Aside from looking a bit disheveled, they seemed to be in good spirits, suggesting that there was a good amount of food in the tunnel.
As they approached the steel fence entrance, the middle-aged man carefully examined Li Zecheng and the other four team members.
He said slowly, "Where did you come from? As far as I know, there are no military camps within dozens of kilometers of this area."
The middle-aged man had a serious expression, exuding an air of authority without being angry.
Li Zecheng smiled slightly and said, "We are from Huaxi Valley Base. You don't need to worry about us. We are just here on orders to obtain steel bars. There are more than 100 soldiers with us. If we have any ill intentions towards you, we can just break into your camp."
After speaking, Li Zecheng gestured to the team members behind him to hand several binoculars to the middle-aged man.
“You can look behind me at the 10 o’clock position, about 200 meters away. Our main force is waiting there. We didn’t approach because we were worried about causing any misunderstanding.”
The middle-aged man and several burly men took the binoculars and looked in the direction Li Zecheng indicated.
They were all taken aback.
Sure enough, there were more than a dozen large trucks and hundreds of fully armed soldiers standing there quietly.
"As far as I know, the truck needs to pass through a small town to get here. Have you already cleared out all the zombies in that town?"
The middle-aged man suppressed his inner joy and asked with a serious expression.
Li Zecheng nodded and said calmly, "Our Huaxi Valley base has already recaptured several towns and more than a dozen villages. The small town we passed through only had 3,000 zombies, which is nothing."
Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man and the dozen or so burly men all gasped in shock.
They knew perfectly well that there were very powerful evolved zombies among the zombies.
Those zombie hordes, numbering in the thousands, would certainly include many powerful evolved zombies.
As a result, they were all cleared away by these officers and soldiers.
If things continue like this, the so-called Huaxi Valley base definitely has great potential.
