Chapter 763 The Only Survivor

Jiang Wu and Su Ziyu continued down the sloping stairs.

Thick dust covered the metal steps, each step kicking up a cloud of dust that swirled into tiny eddies in the sunlight streaming through the small boat.

The corridor floor was littered with various odds and ends and was still covered in dust.

Jiang Wu squatted down, wiping the thin layer of dust off the ground with his fingertips, and said softly, "Judging from the amount of dust, no one has been here for at least a few months."

He stood up, his gaze sweeping over the open hatches on both sides.

Those rooms were like dark, gaping mouths, giving the impression that something terrifying might burst out at any moment.

Jiang Wu said, somewhat puzzled, "Logically, with dozens of survivors living together, there should be more traces. How come we can't find any here?"

Su Ziyu said softly, "Brother Wu, even if we can't find Xiao Xia's boyfriend, we can just take her back to the base. Once we get there, she'll naturally behave."

Jiang Wu smiled slightly and said calmly, "It's not about Xiao Xia's boyfriend anymore. I just feel there's something strange about this cabin. Let's take a look."

Then, he smiled and said, "But one thing is certain: starting from the upper level, all the food has disappeared. It must have been taken by the survivors here."

Just then, Jiang Wu's ears twitched slightly.

He heard a very faint sound, like someone moving around.

However, the other party was clearly walking very carefully and very quietly.

But Jiang Wu's senses were so sharp that he still managed to detect it.

"Someone's here!" Jiang Wu said softly, then transformed into a blur and rushed toward the direction from which the sound came.

He was incredibly fast, disappearing at the end of the corridor.

Su Ziyu also chased after Jiang Wu.

Soon, Jiang Wu suddenly pushed open the door to a room, and the sound came from inside!

This appears to be an equipment room, with a lot of pipes.

In addition, there were countless food items and water buckets piled up.

Found it!

Just as Jiang Wu was about to continue walking inside, a petite figure suddenly darted out from under a pile of canvas in the corner and disappeared into a ventilation duct behind her.

However, she was too slow.

She only had time to squeeze her head and upper body inside before Jiang Wu appeared behind her, grabbed the man's ankle, and pulled her out.

The other person was very small; their ankles were even thinner than Su Ziyu's wrists.

But the next second, Jiang Wu was slightly taken aback.

Only then did he realize that the girl he had pulled out was a blonde little girl.

She looks to be at most twelve or thirteen years old.

She was wearing clothes that were obviously too big, which made her look somewhat comical.

The little girl struggled desperately, like a frightened little animal.

Jiang Wu released his grip, took a step back, and tried to soften his voice: "Don't be afraid, I'm not a bad person."

The little girl immediately curled up in the corner, her brown eyes filled with wariness.

She was like a rabbit ready to run away at any moment, her eyes darting around.

His lips were pressed tightly together, and he didn't say a word.

Jiang Wu assumed she didn't understand Mandarin, so he cleared his throat and said in broken English, "Hi, Mom..."

What's the English word for "good person"?

Jiang Wu was a little embarrassed.

Just then, Su Ziyu walked in.

Upon seeing the little girl, Su Ziyu looked her over curiously.

Jiang Wu looked at Su Ziyu and asked, "Xiaoyu, do you speak English? She doesn't understand Chinese."

Just as Su Ziyu was about to answer, the blonde little girl suddenly spoke up: "I...can...understand."

Her Chinese pronunciation was standard, but a little awkward, as if she hadn't spoken in a long time.

Jiang Wu's lips twitched. This little girl looked at him as if she had seen a ghost.

As a result, once the little fish arrived, it stared intently at the little fish and became willing to talk.

Is this one of the advantages of being beautiful?

Jiang Wu understood, and simply said to Su Ziyu, "You ask her."

Su Ziyu nodded obediently, then looked at the little girl and asked, "What's your name? Where are the others?"

The blonde girl had been staring at Su Ziyu ever since she came in.

At this moment, her gaze remained fixed on Su Ziyu's face, and after a few seconds she answered, "Lillian... they're all dead, only I'm left."

Upon hearing this answer, both Jiang Wu and Su Ziyu were slightly taken aback.

Su Ziyu continued, "How long have they been dead?"

Lillian turned to look at the wall, and Jiang Wu then noticed that it was covered with tally marks.

After a dozen seconds, Lillian calmly said, "It's been 394 days."

Jiang Wu gasped.

This means that the little girl survived alone in this ghost ship-like place for more than a year!

A year ago, she was only about ten years old, right?

He couldn't help but ask, "Have you been living alone for over a year?"

As soon as he said it, Jiang Wu realized he had said something pointless.

They're all dead, but wasn't she the only one left?

Lillian looked up, glanced at him with her big brown eyes, and rolled her eyes very lightly, as if to say, "Isn't it obvious?"

Jiang Wu's lips twitched. This brat actually dared to roll his eyes at him?

But considering the other party's young age, Jiang Wu didn't get angry.

Just as he was about to say something, he heard Su Ziyu say in a cold tone, "Answer the question! Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Jiang Wu was taken aback and looked at Su Ziyu.

Only then did I realize that she was looking at the blonde little girl with a cold expression.

Jiang Wu was completely stunned.
