Chapter 123 This girl is an evil spirit

Two burly men unlocked the door and walked in.

One of the burly men swung his whip, trying to intimidate them.

"Waaaaah... Uncle, Wanwan's stomach hurts, it hurts so much!"

Upon seeing the two men enter, Sheng Wanwan burst into even more miserable sobs, clutching her stomach and rolling on the ground as she cried.

The two burly men, who had been looking fierce, showed a hint of panic when they saw Sheng Wanwan, such a small child, writhing in pain on the bed.

"Why would I suddenly have a stomachache? Could I be faking it?"

One of the slightly taller, burly men frowned and looked at Sheng Wanwan, asking a question.

Sheng Wanwan didn't answer, she just kept crying, the sound was so loud it hurt people's ears.

"How would such a little kid know how to pretend? Besides, what good would it do? Just because she has a stomachache, we'd let her go? Hehehe... Don't overthink it. Let's take her to see Aunt Wu! All the animals in this house are in good condition and can fetch a high price. If she dies, we'll lose a fortune!"

Another burly man stepped forward and picked up Sheng Wanwan.

Sheng Wanwan was carried out of the house by the burly man. Before leaving, she gave the child inside a victory sign.

Seeing this, the other children didn't dare to expose her, because if they did, they would be beaten to death right now.

"Brother Bai Ze, what should we do? What if our little sister is found out she's faking it? Will she get beaten up? She's so young, she can't take a beating!"

Sheng Wanwan saved Si Ruier's life, and Si Ruier didn't want to see Sheng Wanwan die, so tears immediately rolled down her cheeks like beads from a broken string.

“We can’t save her! But Wanwan is beautiful, so those people probably won’t be willing to kill her. There’s no other way now, we can only wait! Wait for the soldiers from the capital to find us.”

Bai Ze said with a frown.

After hearing this, Si Ruier's tears continued to fall, but she knew that there was really nothing they, as children, could do but wait...

After Sheng Wanwan was carried out of the house by the big man, she discovered that it was an abandoned, dilapidated temple.

There were several side rooms and a dilapidated main hall in the temple, and the room they were in was one of the side rooms.

The burly man carrying her walked towards the main hall. Sheng Wanwan secretly observed and discovered that, in addition to the side room she had come from, there were three other side rooms with slight noises coming from them.

The sound of a child crying softly came from one of the side rooms, while snoring could be heard from the other two.

"Aunt Wu, look what's wrong with this little girl? She suddenly started having stomach cramps and is rolling around on the ground. We mustn't let her die; she could fetch a lot of money looking like this!"

The burly man carried Sheng Wanwan into a side room lit by an oil lamp and spoke to an old woman inside who was packing her medicine box.

Upon hearing this, the old woman looked up at Sheng Wanwan and then gestured for the burly man to put Sheng Wanwan on the bed.

Sheng Wanwan looked over and saw that the old woman was about fifty years old, dressed in a gray cloth dress, with gray hair, a mean face, and a sharp glint in her eyes. She was clearly a shrewd and capable person.

After being placed on the bed, Sheng Wanwan stopped crying and started rolling around on the bed, clutching her stomach, while secretly glancing at the old woman.

This old woman must be a barefoot doctor, specializing in treating these abducted children.

"Little one, why do you suddenly have a stomachache?" the old woman said, reaching out to press on Sheng Wanwan's stomach. "Let me see if you're faking it. If you are, you'll get a scolding!"

The old lady's tone was sinister, like that of a wicked wolf in sheep's clothing.

Sheng Wanwan simply stopped pretending. She sat up, a wicked smile playing on her lips.

"Grandma, how are you going to discipline me?"

The old woman got goosebumps all over from Sheng Wanwan's smile.

How could such a young child have such a smile? That smile instinctively frightened her.

"Biaozi, Huzi, this child is faking it. Take her back and teach her a lesson, but don't hurt that pretty little face!"

The old woman shook her head, trying to shake off the absurd idea in her mind.

What could be so scary about a child that big?

The two burly men were enraged when they heard the old woman say that.

"You little brat, are you trying to keep us brothers up all night? I'll beat you to death!"

A burly man was about to grab Sheng Wanwan.

Sheng Wanwan smiled and quickly formed hand seals. Just before the burly man was about to touch her, she pointed at him and he stopped moving.

The other burly man and the old woman were shocked to see this.

"Where did you get this child? Could he be a mountain spirit?"

The old lady asked, her body trembling. She wanted to run, but found her body seemingly frozen in place, unable to move at all!

This child is clearly no ordinary person!

"I didn't capture this child; I found him in the woods near the mass grave. There was a man in black with him at the time, and that man wanted to kill the child. But somehow, he shouted 'There's a ghost!' and ran away!"

My brothers and I initially thought we'd encountered a madman, but we didn't take it seriously at the time.

Seeing that the child was beautiful and could fetch a high price, they took her in.

Could the ghost that man was talking about be this child?

The big man's voice trembled as he spoke.

"Damn it, you bunch of idiots! How dare you arrest just anyone! Are you stupid?! I didn't even settle scores with you for arresting those richly dressed people, and now you've brought me a little devil. You guys really have no brains at all!"

The old woman was so angry that she started cursing!

Ever since they arrested those kids who clearly weren't from ordinary families, the government troops have been searching for them day and night, forcing them to hide in this godforsaken mountain, where they dare not venture out.

Now look what's happened; they've provoked this evil spirit, and they're probably going to lose their lives here.

"Young master, please forgive us! We were blind and didn't know your identity. If we had known, we would never have dared to arrest you! Please, young master, spare us!"

The old woman pleaded, her voice trembling with tears.

She desperately wanted to shout for her sleeping accomplices, but she knew it would be useless; the little girl in front of her couldn't possibly be human. She'd rather beg this evil spirit; perhaps it would be in a good mood and let them go.

If she dared to shout for help, she might be killed by this strange little child.

She dared not take the risk...

The two burly men also realized what was happening and quickly joined in begging for mercy, "Young masters, we were forced into this line of work. We have elderly parents and young children to support. We had no other choice. Please forgive us! We promise we'll never do it again!"

Sheng Wanwan looked at them coldly, feeling little pity. For money, they had abducted children, breaking up countless families and causing unbearable pain to countless parents.

They don't deserve forgiveness...

She pointed with her little hand, and instantly everything went quiet.
