Chapter 366 Joining the Army

Before long, all one hundred or so Japanese soldiers were killed by Chu Wanwan.

Li Jun popped his head out and walked excitedly to Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye.

"Comrades, who are you people? How did you just fly? Do you know the legendary light-body skill?"

Chu Wanwan looked at the boy who looked only seventeen or eighteen years old. Blood was still flowing from his shoulder, but his eyes were sparkling with curiosity.

She smiled slightly, "We are members of the Xuanmen sect who cultivate in the mountains, and we know some martial arts. We did use our lightness skill just now!"

In her previous life, Chu Wanwan was a member of the Xuanmen sect. She knew that top cultivators in the Xuanmen sect could levitate. Although it wasn't as powerful as the lightness skills of ancient people, it was enough to fool a small warrior!

"My God! Is there really such a thing as qinggong (lightness skill) in this world? If only I had your skills, those Japanese devils wouldn't be able to catch me!" Li Jun said enviously.

"Hehe... Why are you all alone in this forest? Where are your troops?" Chu Wanwan asked in confusion!

"My unit was stationed in Ningshui City. I was wounded on the battlefield and left to recuperate at a medical base in Zhaojiagou. However, the Japanese discovered the medical base, and everyone else either died or fled. I escaped by the skin of my teeth. If I hadn't met you, I would be dead by now! Thank you both for saving my life!"

Li Jun's face was full of gratitude.

"Don't mention it, you Eighth Route Army soldiers are all my idols!" Chu Wanwan said with a smile.

Li Jun scratched his head and smiled sheepishly, saying:

"You two are my true idols. With just the two of you, you annihilated more than a hundred enemy soldiers in an hour. Your combat power is truly formidable!"

"By the way, didn't you say the Eighth Route Army is your idol? Why don't you join our Eighth Route Army?"

Li Jun thought that if he could bring these two highly skilled men and women into their camp, wouldn't that make their camp's combat power rise sharply?

"Join the Eighth Route Army? That's a great idea!" Chu Wanwan's eyes lit up. She had always admired the Eighth Route Army soldiers and considered them true heroes. Now that she had the opportunity to join in person, she was naturally very happy.

"Si Mingye, what do you think? How about we join the Eighth Route Army together, fight the Japanese, and protect this land?" Chu Wanwan turned to look at Si Mingye, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Si Mingye smiled slightly and said, "Yes! That's fine!"

As a Chinese, even after becoming a god, he still wanted to protect this land...

Upon hearing their answers, Li Jun's face lit up with a joyful smile. He exclaimed excitedly, "Great! Welcome to the Eighth Route Army! With you joining us, our battalion's combat effectiveness will definitely increase several levels!"

...

Li Jun brought Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye to Ningshui County, a poor and dilapidated small county town.

The scars of war are evident everywhere here. Broken walls and ruins are scattered along the streets, with shattered bricks and collapsed wooden beams strewn about, as if every piece of stone is telling the story of the ruthlessness of war.

The walls are covered with bullet holes and artillery fire marks, like a series of ferocious faces staring at this shattered world.

The charred marks and mottled cracks intertwined to create a series of unsettling scenes, casting a somber and oppressive atmosphere over the entire county.

The streets were sparsely populated, with only a few people hurrying by occasionally. Their faces were etched with weariness and worry, and their eyes revealed confusion and unease about the future.

The war caused them to lose so much: the destruction of their homes and the separation of their loved ones. This left everyone with a heavy psychological burden, as if the whole world was pressing down on their shoulders.

They walked silently with their heads down, as if searching for a glimmer of hope and warmth.

Li Jun led Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye through the narrow alleys, finally arriving at a secluded courtyard. This was a temporary encampment for the Eighth Route Army; several such encampments existed in Ningshui County, all empty houses where no one had returned…

Simple thatched huts and tents were set up in a neat and orderly fashion, with soldiers busily moving among them.

"Battalion Commander Zhang, I've brought back two new comrades!" Li Jun shouted excitedly as he walked into a tent used as a command post.

Battalion Commander Zhang was a burly, resolute-looking middle-aged man. He looked up at the three people who walked in, a hint of curiosity flashing in his eyes.

"Who are these two?" Battalion Commander Zhang asked.

"They saved my life on the road, and they're both martial arts masters! The two of them wiped out more than a hundred enemy soldiers in less than an hour!" Li Jun excitedly introduced. "This is Chu Wanwan, and this is Si Mingye. They're willing to join our Eighth Route Army!"

Upon hearing this, Battalion Commander Zhang stood up and warmly extended his hand: "Oh? That's amazing? Welcome to join our Eighth Route Army! That's wonderful. With your addition, our combat effectiveness will definitely reach a new level."

I am Battalion Commander Zhang, in charge of commanding this temporary encampment.

Battalion Commander Zhang's eyes revealed a sincere welcome and anticipation.

Chu Wanwan smiled and shook Battalion Commander Zhang's hand, replying, "Battalion Commander Zhang, we are very happy to join you. In the future, please feel free to assign me and Si Mingye any tasks you need. We are very capable!"

Upon hearing this, Battalion Commander Zhang nodded: "You two can rest today. We have a mission tomorrow night. You'll be coming with me then."

Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye exchanged a smile and replied in unison, "Yes!"

That evening, Li Jun led the two men to their respective residences.
