Chapter 367 Mission

As soon as Chu Wanwan finished speaking, a faint blush crept onto Si Mingye's cheeks again. He coughed lightly, trying to cover his embarrassment, "Ahem... well, let's... clean up first!"

Si Mingye turned and fled the house, going to the house next door to borrow a broom and a rag.

The two of them, like a real young couple, started cleaning the room together.

Chu Wanwan sprinkled water and swept the floor, while Si Mingye was responsible for wiping the dust off the tables and chairs.

The two worked together seamlessly and quickly cleaned the small house.

Soon after, Li Jun brought over a simple wooden bed, along with two pillows and some bedding.

"These are the best beds and bedding in the camp. Please make do with them for now," Li Jun said apologetically, as the conditions here were really limited.

Chu Wanwan smiled and accepted the bedding, expressing her gratitude: "This is already very good, thank you, Li Jun."

Si Mingye nodded in gratitude. They both knew that in times of war, such conditions were already quite good.

After Li Jun and the others left, the two began to make the bed.

Chu Wanwan made the bed, while Si Mingye helped fold the blankets. After everything was settled, Chu Wanwan was surprised to find that she was actually hungry.

"Si Mingye, not only have we lost our magic power, but it seems that our divine bodies have also turned into mortal bodies!"

"Yeah! I'm hungry too! Let's go! There should be something to eat around this time, let's go find some!"

Si Mingye said, taking Chu Wanwan's hand and walking towards the door.

Dinner at the camp consisted of coarse grain pancakes with wild vegetable soup. It didn't taste good and made my throat sore, but if I didn't eat it, I would go hungry.

Si Mingye and Chu Wanwan had no choice but to return to their room and force themselves to swallow the unpalatable food.

"I miss my space so much! I remember I had some spirit rice and spirit plants hidden in it. I didn't think those things were that delicious before, but now I think they are the most delicious food in the world."

After finishing the pancake and taking a sip of wild vegetable soup, Chu Wanwan sighed helplessly.

Si Mingye gently patted the back of her hand, comforting her, "We have to learn to adapt to this situation. Once the mission here is completed, we should be able to leave!"

"We have lost all our divine power now, and we don't know if we can leave this world! Speaking of which, the few times we came to this small world before, apart from having some of our spiritual power sealed in the Elf Realm, there was nowhere else that could seal our magic power!"

What's going on now? Has Heaven lost its mind?

As soon as Chu Wanwan finished speaking, a muffled rumble of thunder suddenly echoed in the clear sky, as if the heavens were displeased that Chu Wanwan had spoken ill of him.

Si Mingye looked up at the sky, his brows furrowed. "It seems we are indeed restricted by the Heavenly Dao. This thunder seems to be a warning to us."

Chu Wanwan pouted, "Hmph, the Heavenly Dao is so petty. You can't even talk to it!"

"Forget about that. Our top priority now is to complete our mission here, and then Heaven should let us leave!"

"Si Mingye, do you even know what the Heavenly Dao is? We are already gods, how can we still be suppressed by the Heavenly Dao?"

Si Mingye shook his head and said, "The Heavenly Dao seems to be a kind of rule of heaven and earth, which controls the operation of all things and the balance of the world."

Even gods like us cannot fully comprehend or control the Heavenly Way. Every world has its own Heavenly Way rules, and we may have triggered some kind of limitation of this world, thus being temporarily stripped of our magical powers.

You needn't worry too much; the laws of Heaven in any place would not strip us of our divine status without a reason!

Chu Wanwan listened thoughtfully, "Hmm! But how do we complete the mission? The 'Connecting the Past and Present' is in the space, and we can't find the Heavenly Stone through it now, so we can't get it!"

"Let's take it one step at a time! Don't you really want to be a member of the Eighth Route Army? Then let's throw ourselves into it wholeheartedly. Maybe in the process, we'll find clues to complete our mission."

Chu Wanwan nodded after hearing this, "Okay!"

...

The following evening, Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye were chatting in the small house when they suddenly heard an urgent assembly call outside.

The two men exchanged a glance and immediately realized that the mission Commander Zhang had mentioned yesterday was about to begin. They quickly put on the uniforms that had been delivered the day before, slung their rifles over their shoulders, and left the small hut, heading towards the assembly point.

At the assembly point, they saw Li Jun and the other Eighth Route Army soldiers already standing in neat rows, their faces filled with seriousness and tension. Upon seeing them arrive, Li Jun quickly walked over.

"Mingye, Wanwan, you've arrived. Quickly take your places; we have a big mission tonight." Li Jun's tone was very serious.

Chu Wanwan and Si Mingye immediately followed Li Jun's instructions and quickly took their places in the ranks.

Standing in the line, they felt an unprecedented tension.

This atmosphere made them realize that the task ahead might be extraordinary.

Battalion Commander Zhang began to explain the mission: "You've probably all heard about today's mission. That's right, our mission today is to launch a night raid on Ningshui County Railway Station."

"According to reliable intelligence, the enemy will transport a batch of important military supplies to Ningshui County Railway Station by train tonight, and then transfer them to the front line. Our objective is to sabotage this batch of supplies and destroy the railway station facilities as much as possible to hinder the enemy's supply to the front line."

"This batch of supplies from the enemy is extremely important, and they will definitely send a large force to escort it. Therefore, we must be fully prepared and act swiftly and decisively, and we must not allow ourselves to be bogged down by the enemy. Remember, our objective is to destroy the supplies and the railway station facilities, not to engage the enemy in direct combat. Do you all understand?"

"Understood!" the soldiers replied in unison, their voices firm and powerful.

"Alright! Let's go!"
